It might sound a little bit like Gerudo Valley? Thanks for listening!

Banger.

I don't know how to mix or master either :D

It does feel a little bit muddy in the sections where everything comes together - feels like there should be one element that really punches out or something. But it's groovy, sounds nice, and feels like it would really fit the game! Really cool stuff!

Also why's he looking at me like that  : {

Neat stuff! Lacking a little bit in punch with how quiet the kick and electric guitar are, but it's still really fun. Reminds me a bit of something you'd find on Newgrounds back in the day, or in Flash games - not sure exactly why though

(1 edit)

This is so good!

Can really feel the Signalis influence, but it's not to the point where it becomes derivative and not its own creative thing. The last track especially was beautiful, and the sound quality throughout was spectacular. Only real criticism I have is that it ends a little bit abruptly.

Remember our promise

Really pretty soundtrack! You make some really nice vibes throughout this - the last song in particular reminds me a bit of wind waker (or any zelda lol) with the string rhythm. I do agree that there could have been more dynamic variation, as it did feel a little...I guess static is the right word?

Either way, fantastic tunes!

gorgeous orchestration

Nice soundtrack! I do think it would have benefitted from more variety, but for a snapshot for a jam this is really nice!

This is a really wonderful little OST. You should  advertise it and get it out there, this deserves a lot more listens!

shoutouts to Dave Brubeck !!

Really beautiful piece! I loved the tempo increase near the end. It felt really organic, and I actually really liked the artistic choice to not build with it, but just commit to the atmosphere.

Powerful work, fantastic job~

OH MY GOSH IB MENTIONED???!!!

Love this - you really capture the sort of "really charming music but something feels off" vibe that makes the soundtracks of a lot of indie horror feel so memorable. And then when you get into really unsettling stuff like Light's Off it HITS.

Could absolutely see this as the soundtrack for a weird indie game that would become my entire personality for 2 months. I want only the best for the little bean in the thumbnail.

Fantastic!~

Thanks for the listen! The bells are the swirling bells preset from hybrid keys with a phaser and copious amounts of reverb. Hybrid keys is a godsend - got it for free with massive and used it for like 5 different sounds on the ost... lol

The Landscape 2-1 has got to be one of my favorite things I've heard in the jam so far, the piano had me making jazz faces. The basswork and drums throughout the whole ost were really well done. Would agree that the mixing could use some work, especially - might be my headphones adding to it, but there's a really high pitched noise in it that hurts a little. The rest of the tracks are amazing though, great work!

Cool stuff! I agree that it gets a little repetitive, especially in the basslines. I liked Bitter Cold a lot especially!

Really loved the first track - the plucked strings, percussion and bells all combined to make a really nice atmosphere that I could really get lost in. Do agree with the last comment that the water sounds are a bit loud in the second track.

Great work!

Cool stuff! You create a good atmosphere with these, but I'm not a huge fan of the drums. They're a bit loud and very bassy, and it takes a bit away from the dark and creepy atmosphere the rest of your instruments do very well at making.

I also do agree with some of the previous commenters that it feels a little stagnant. Really it's up to you with stylistic choices, but I think it could have benefitted from some quieter moments and some more intense ones. Even changing up a drum pattern is a good way of accomplishing this - you're 003 track does this quite nicely, and I would've liked to hear more of that.

Again, good work!

Loved the main theme! Like others have said, the others are really a little short to get a feel on, but I think they would work well for your proposed game.

So cool! Really creative soundscapes, it does such a great job of creating an atmosphere, and I can really envision playing a game with this as the soundtrack.

Such a pretty composition! :D ! I can hear the Mario Galaxy influence, and it feels like it would work really well in a similar type of game! Agree that it is very concentrated in the high end - which does help to give it a bit of an airy feel - but it's a bit much to me.

Fantastic job!!!

Cool stuff! Glad you were able to join the jam and make music for the first time! Just have fun, experiment with things, and keep making neat things like this :D

Beautiful soundtrack! It fits with the cover image so well, and I can really hear the FFX influence. I want this as background music in my life!

Thanks for listening! It's been super nice getting feedback on mixing and mastering from this jam - I'll definitely have a lot to look into!

So good! Both pieces sound great! Second one especially grabbed me at how well it would fit in the game you described. Admire having the guts to go for a 9 minute track in a jam setting and having it work out so well!

Like people have said, a little quiet, but that's a super minor nitpick for something like this!

Great work!

Wonderful soundscape you created! Enjoyed the different elements and how they worked together. Only real criticism is that I'm not sure how well it would really work in the context of a video game (as people generally aren't sitting on a menu for 8 minutes).

Really neat sounds!

Absolutely blew my mind :0

Incredibly soundscapes, incredible composition. First track gave me chills when it swelled and then the entire ost maintained that same quality.

Can't honestly say much more, but this is amazing.

Amazing stuff. The ability to transition so well between ambiance and more intense sections like in Amidst is something I admire a lot. (and like a lot of others pointed out, very reminiscent of risk of rain lol).

Love the percussion, especially in the second track. Weird comparison, but some of it reminded me a little of a marching band's drum section. Impressive ability to have a lot going on in the drums but still make it very chill.

Also so impressed with how the mix sounds. Does NOT sound like it was put together in a week!

i didn't know you can make stuff like this in garageband :0 !! I'm really curious what you could achieve if you keep it up.

Good work!

So good! Agree with the Hades vibes. The guitars sound great, vocal performance on the last song is fantastic. Epic work!

Incredible range on this! Very creative OST that sounded consistently great throughout! Only minor criticism would be the sometimes the levels of instruments feel a little off - for example on Captain's Orders, it felt like some of the strings were a little bit loud compared to others.

Amazing work!

Such a cute soundtrack! Don't have too much to say other than that it made me feel happy, and the composition was great! Also thought the third song was gonna be One Summer's Day from Spirited Away from the first few notes!

This is incredible, and so creative. I loved the drums you used, both the patterns and the samples themselves (esp the addition of the rhythmic glitches near the end, and the ride that comes in around 2:24 sounds NICE)

Great use of odd time signatures, really feel like they add a lot to the ideas you were going for while not keeping it from driving forward in the heavier parts. Plus, love the title and cover art. Super creative vibes.

The presentation and story on this are amazing! Soundtrack was super cute! I especially loved the credits theme and nonstop unpopped. Only real criticism I'd have is that I'm not huge on the bass you used. It feels like it sits a little far forward in the mix, and is a bit loud.

Compositionally this was amazing! Loved the melody writing and how well all the parts worked together. Highlight in that regard would probably be The H2Zone.

Great work!!!!

thank you so much for the feedback! definitely agreed on what you said about the drums and the muddy feeling on some of the tracks. The lead in the climax of plummet is actually mostly the inferno electric guitar sample from sytrus, alongside a saw with a ton of distortion on it lol. bass is mostly massive presets bc I don't hear low frequencies well enough to make my own, so I'm pleasantly surprised that it sounded good!
Thanks again for the review!

Love this! It sounds like it would work so well as something like the background ost to a visual novel or something to that effect. Super vibey, relaxing, but still constantly interesting throughout. Great job!

Amazing stuff! My personal favorites were Stay Afloat and Resurface, but the entire soundtrack was great! It would be a treat to hear any of these pieces played live by an orchestra.

Hope you do well! :D

The distortion was on purpose, it just unfortunately didn't work as well as I'd have liked! I'll definitely look into a better way of implementing it in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

AAAA this is so good!!

This is so beautiful! I agree with what others have said about it giving studio-ghibli vibes. This would work so well as the background for a long, emotional cutscene, or for a story trailer. So impressive, especially for someone new to learning music theory! Hope you do well :)

This is so good :0

Love the atmosphere you were able to create. Certain parts sort of remind me of the Sable OST (which is a huge plus lol).

Awesome work!!
