Always love when Game Jam games take the time to add the tutorial in to smooth out the learning curve. Yeeting your own body parts will never not be fun and I liked how the skull itself sort of acted like the rings death from Sonic the Hedgehog at the same time.

Really cool game. I love that attacking also makes you vulnerable and that you can only die once you've already lost your head once.
I do wish that the music wouldn't restart every time you died though.
Difficult but really fun! Really glad there was a checkpoint system. At times I did feel I got hit really quickly in succession so a slightly longer invincibility after being hit would ease up the difficulty just a bit.
Fun game mechanics! It's got a great arcade platformer feel to it.
The only problem was how unforgiving the attacks were. I didn't know there was a checkpoint system, and the deaths were so sudden they barely had a chance to sink in, so unfortunately I didn't get very far. Still, I enjoyed what I was able to reach!
The color scheme and pixel art are on point. I like the simple in-game control tutorials and the head throwing mechanic is a lot of fun!! However, I didn't even realize there was a checkpoint system until I read some of the other peoples comments. Why not a similar visual cue like the controls at the checkpoint? Also, the instant death if you're hit without your head got old really fast and flatlined the fun for me.
Better telegraphing to the player what's happening and maybe less of a "get good" difficulty would have motivated me to keep playing. I'm down for a hard game but when it kills the fun it's over for me ☹️
I'll probably go back at some point to play again because I see a good game there. Really great job! 😃
It looks like a demake of the game Skul: The Hero Slayer.
It’s well done, but I felt it lacked some more original elements. Also, something that would allow me to recover the head more safely, as there was a moment when the head stopped on top of the spikes. Congratulations.
A gem from this jam for sure, one of the most fun action mechanics I've gotten to play
Love everything about this, especially the boss at the end, but the only thing that bothers me, is that the checkpoint sfx is way too loud in comparison to every other sfx as well as the music, but that's really minor in comparison to everything else. great entry!
Excellent, merciless game! I appreciate the choice of the core mechanic with projectile motion, requiring precision launching and positioning. Restless skeleton indeed.
That was cool! The skull is quite fun to use. The art is proficient, and the concept is quite charming!
The dogs tend to blend in with the dark backgrounds.
The checkpoint reload sound is a bit loud. Also, the skeleton death noise plays repeatedly while the body is still in contact with the thing that killed it (such as spikes).
All-in-all, good work!
Just finished playing through it, honestly I love the project as a concept, there were a few issues with the camera not panning down enough, but honestly that just added to the gameboy soul (the limited screen size and etc).
Also the use of your head as a weapon AND as HP is a really good idea, if this were released back during the gameboy era, this could potentially be a "souls-like" game of that era simply due to how strategic you have to be in regards to enemies as well as making sure you don't die.
All in all, really good submission, almost lost my head ;)
