beats me how this kind of game is so addictive haha
I love the color choice!
I really like original ideas like this one! Also gameplay feels nice (could be longer tho) and I really like the dithering. Could you perhaps share the source for the shader, if it is a shader? :)
Hey, thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed the gameplay, I'll be improving that soon when I work on the full version of this concept.
The shader I used was from here: https://github.com/samuelbigos/godot_dither_shader, I forgot to credit this repo on my itch page! I'll change that now. The shader required some tweaks to fit my use-case, and I think I needed to change a couple things for it to work with Godot 4.3. Hope that helps!
this so unique and fun, i give you perfect score for that 👍👍
Hey thanks! I appreciate that!
Very fun! I survived 9 nights and got up to 7 floors before my tower got destroyed in less than a minute bc of a giant horde ;; gotta rebuild!
If I were to give some feedback, I’d say it’s a bit difficult to find the nearest shop, maybe some marker on the screen would be nice
Keep up the great work!
Glad to hear you made it far! Thanks for the feedback, I agree that something like that would be helpful.
Thanks again!
Wonderful, and fun to play!
I like your choice to use Blue Noise dithering for the dark screen and Bayers for the light.
Thanks so much!
I was wondering if someone would pick up on that -- good eye!
Really satisfying gameplay, with some post-jam extra balancing and some more upgrade types this would be a nice standalone game! I like the mechanic of upgrades acting as armor that increase your overall health too.
Thanks for saying that! As you may have read elsewhere, I am indeed going to make this a standalone game -- so that is very encouraging to hear!
As someone who 100%'s Vampire Survivors' achievements everytime a new update comes out, I loved this
I appreciate that! I'm a big fan of Vampire Survivors myself -- glad you enjoyed my game!
Who would have guessed that the first time I would play Vampire survivors, it would not be the og Vampire Survivors but Tenacious Tower!
Loved the music and the art style is very interesting. Is it a shader over 3D models? Or are they actually sprites (they kind of remind me of age of empires buildings)?
Really enjoyed it! :)
I can really recommend getting vampire survivors if you liked this
Haha hey I'm glad you had fun!
Thank you for your kind words. It's actually a shader over 2d sprites!
Genuinely really addictive. Super cool and unique game. I love how ludicrous some of the stacked modifiers can get. Nice work!
Thanks so much!
I love the art so much! Really nice game.
Thank you!
Very fun, but the enemies just get to fast to deal with, and spawn in walls, wich is kind of unfair
Yeah it's a tricky balance! When I re-release this game, I'll spend more time trying to even-out the difficulty, or give the player some options. Thanks for playing!
Really fun take on the Survivors genre! Every time I thought I had a broken build, the game caught up with me in a neverending arms race. I did sometimes have trouble figuring out the limitations of the game’s rules: it was clear that I can 2x a 2x floor, and only once, but sometimes I was still surprised at the result when I rearranged the floors.
Anyway, I closed the game before it sucked up my entire evening, I still have to cook dinner ;)
Came back to play another round and managed to get an attack speed of over 20000% which somehow caused the entire viewport to shake uncontrollably 10/10
Haha I'm glad you enjoyed it! I appreciate you taking the time to leave some thoughts.
That's a good callout about the modifiers, I should aim to provide more visibility into how those apply (currently they should always apply, but that's not always clear)!
And yes, you found my (least) favourite bug -- I _want_ folks like yourself to find those game-breaking modifier combos, and should fix those so that the player isn't punished for it!
Very cool. The game feels nice once your build starts working. I would love to see an animation of how
Thanks for your feedback! I agree, some sort of animation for building/reordering the tower would be great. I cut it from scope, but when I re-release this game I'll have something for that!
Haha I didnt think that the tower will move. Very nice. The switch betwen day and night is short. I would like to stay longer to kill more. Its quite quick for me and cut off the fun in the middle.
I would like to there's some mechanic along with the tower floor cut off on losing health, such like if there's more floors we got slow move speed but higher damage. And faster but less damage if there's less floors. Thought it will balance out the game instead of feeling being punished so hard (losing health, losing damage and all buffs)
Ps: The art is stunning xD
Those are great ideas! Thanks for taking the time to share those.
I like your idea about balancing when you lose floors, I'll have to experiment with that!
Some of the best art I've seen so far!
For some reason, I didn't manage to upgrade in a way that got me more projectiles or higher range.
Overall, great concept, I'd play more of this :)
Thank you for your kind words! Yeah depending on what stock each shop has, and how you're able to order them, you'll get varying results. Do you think it would be an improvement to allow players to "re-roll" the inventory when in a shop for a fee? Either way, I'll let you know when I release the full version of this game on Steam!
The graphics are gorgeous! The lighting on the floor around towns is super pretty! And yeah, this reminded me a ton of a tower defense game too. Very clever, and the upgrade system with the multipliers for floors above/below is very smart too! Great job!
Thank you for your very kind review! It was a lot of fun to make! With more time, I'd like to take the art much further to try and squeeze much more out of the dithering effect.
Cool game, the only bad think is thath enemies behind the tower are not visible.
Thanks for the feedback! I agree, when I make a more full-version of this game I'll find a way to provide indicators or silhouettes somehow.
It's a nice twist on "tower defense", had fun running around as a tower
Thanks for playing! I wanted to flip things around, more tower offence than defence!
