Is this a Remix/Remake?

Yes

If so, please share a link or add details about the previous project.
"Lots of love" https://jsmonzani.itch.io/lots-of-love-2 was my first platformer but it wasn't very easy to play. I've started over with a fresh approach and changed all the game mechanics.

I really like this game, it's just fun and cute. The controls are a bit clunky but still easy to control.

Thank you!!

Loved this. Fun and very cute! Thank goodness for those star powerups, and I liked the secret key room. I beat the game with 2930 points!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Yeah I kept the lucky stars for when I thought the level would become too long and difficult, glad you like it! 😊

Its really sweet that the enemys are at the same time the lost friends, that you need to turn back.

Developer

Thank you! I confess I wasn't ok to create a game where you would kill anyone, so I thought of a way to change that  😅

So cute and very fun!
I like all the different bonuses you can get from different items and being able to loop from the edges of the screen (even if it took me till the last level to figure that out)

Only improvements, I could suggest are the background.

Really great work!!! well done!!

Thank you very much for the positive feedback!

Good game, the only thing I didn’t like is that the game freezes when the monsters turn into foxes. I would prefer to keep running while this animation plays.

Thank you! I was quite hesitating for this pause too, it's good to get feedback!

This is a cute and addictive game.  That I played through a couple rounds (frustration-free) just to complete the whole game is proof for me that this was fun game to play.  This game could totally go for a few more difficult rounds! :)

Notes:

  • Fast load time.  I like that.
  • No way to pause the game?
  • Countdown goes down on powerups while the screen tells you you have one.  Maybe this only needs to apply to the first time a powerup is picked up? (Curse potion need not apply, obviously).
  • Got a LOT of those jewel falls during the 3rd round.  Is that normal?
  • Cursed potion is cute; reversing controls, slowdowns and stuff.  I wonder if it could have other random effect on the screen, like randomly jumping around the screen?
  • Cannot cancel a partial jump (Makes it feel like you could unintentionally collide into an acursed one).
  • Music doubles up when starting a new game after losing one.
  • The arrow in the corner of the screen when checking Instructions / Credits is sitting right under the "full screen" button, making it difficult to click on.
  • I like that collecting the wrong ingredients does not change, alter or restart the current spell the player is working on.
  • I noticed when not collecting the right ingredients (round 5, I believe) that a spell was still created and a friend was freed from the curse.  Then I collected the one ingredient I was looking for and another curse was broken.
  • After opening the round 4 door, I was taken to round 5 after collecting all the jewels.

Thank you very much for the play and detailed feedback!

Not a problem!  I imagine that other devs (like me) want their project to be as perfect as possible.  That's why I say something if I notice something.

Love the style and background music! This is a really fun idea. Love the concept and pixel art - transforming them back into foxes is really cute. Music was really catchy too and I found myself humming along with it after a few levels haha. Great work!

Thank you very much for playing it and for organizing the cozy jam! I like that it wasn't stressful :)

It took a few tries, but I finished with a high score of 8250 here. Fun concept and gameplay—free all the foxes!

I'd be curious to see how the game would play differently if there were fewer pauses when picking up power ups or completing spells. I think these would be great for a tutorial or when picking up a new item or completing a spell for the first time, but I wanted to keep the action going as I progressed through each stage.

Developer

Thank you for playing it! I was wondering if pauses would alter the "arcade" experience, it's interesting to get your feedback. In videogames from the late 80s that inspired me, tutorials were uncommon and you would try and die most of the time 🤣 I wasn't sure which direction to go!

Nice; reminds me of the Donkey Kong 2D game.

Thank you very much!
