The art and music are incredible, and make for a great polished experience. I particularly liked how cohesive everything felt. The restriction of the palette to a few intentionally chosen colors, combined with the well designed music and sound effect, makes the game look and feel beautiful. My only feedback is that the hitboxes and movement did feel a little too restrictive, which may have been intentional for this retro-styled game.
A puzzle platformer somewhat reminding me of Mario VS Donkey Kong.
Very polished short experience, also a visual treat.
Really strong 4 levels that scale well in difficulty and are overall well designed.
Hats off to you!
Finally played with wine and I must say this game is amazing. I rly got captured by nostalgia by the retro style of the game and I rly like the creativity of the game mechanics like the tile that spawn a box to atack flying enemies or the jumping on barrels mechanic. I do got soft-locked in the first level though, idk if was intentional, but a button that can reset levels when this happens would be good. I also miss some more monkey animations, like a victory pose when you finish the level and a death sprite. Good Job
Fun to complete! Took me back to when I had a Game Boy Color. This would definitely have been one of the games I used to play. Love the minimalistic style and level design. Great job on the audio as well!
Great art and sounds. The gameplay is almost great besides the soft lock issue which i was aware of before playing the game. The one thing that u might want to improve on is the player progression. U might want to start the level by making it super easy for the player to learn the controls. As the player progresses, slowly introduce each enemy one by one as well as the mechanics like the climbing and the power ups. That way the game feels more natural and smooth to play.
Keep up the good work tho!
Loved the aesthetic of the game, the idea was great as well, and was easy to understand. However, I did find a soft lock in the first level where if you smash the breakable blocks from the left side the smash will not go through both blocks so the right most block will be unbroken and you cannot move to the next area.
Thanks for playing! Yeah I think that soft lock got a lot of people. When I first started working on this, the monkey could travel across single tile gaps so it was never a problem. Eventually I reduced his width to make navigating the tight levels easier, but completely forgot about that scenario in level 1...
One of my favorite submissions I've played so far! Love the incredibly clean pixel art, animations and music. It got a little frustrating at times with the slightly finicky vine climbing and tight timing with the barrels, but that's also just a part of the retro aesthetic :) Awesome work.
I'd be seismic slamming too if somebody put my bananas in a bunch of cubes. Great idea for a mechanic and super well implemented! I did have some trouble sometimes climbing a vine going next to a block which would stop me if I was off centre. Nonetheless, the level design was great, each one felt like it had an intended an interesting path to follow and the challenge increased satisfyingly. The art and effects make for an extremely polished game, well done!

god this game is BEAUTIFUL! i love the color palette and style so much!!
So sick. 10/10 aesthetics.
Fun little puzzles and jumping on barrels was inspired. It was frustrating with the clunky hitboxes and strict timings but satisfying to pull off and was actually fun to play. Great job despite the budgetary restrictions.
