Really fun mechanic! I really like the dashing attack, althought a lot of times I dash and then I get hurt witch feels a little weird (maybe having a timer when the enemys get hurt so they aren't moving and cant harm you?), but when got the hang of it is really fun to use it. It could be further explored since it allows for higher jumps, getting arround spikes and other kinds of obstacles... (there may be this stuff further in the game).

I love how you used the theme. Making each attack get weaker as you use them but buff the other attack is a great idea to encourage the player to vary their playstyle. The game also has great art.

Unfortunately, there is a bit of chunkiness to the game. Having to use up to jump is annoying. Spacebar is much more of a standard jump button. Additionally, the audio balance isn't great. The music is very quiet compared to the sound effects unfortunately. Additionally, it's too easy to sit back and use the lightning bolts against some enemies, even at 10% effectiveness.

I don't want this to make it sound like I disliked the game though. It's quite amazing for being made in 7 days. I've only seen this kind of mechanic present in the game Salt and Sanctuary before. In there, there are fire and electric spells. Using spells of one kind will "imbalance" you. Continuing to use the same element will eventually cause you to explode unless you wait or use the other element. IA similar mechanic is used to great effect here and I like that taking damage also boosts you damage. It make getting hit feel way less bad. It helps the player fail forward so they stick with their mistake and move forward.

Overall, the game has some amazing ideas and I'd love to see where it can go with some polish.

Wow, for this being your fist game jam this is an hell of a masterpiece!! The game is smooth, polished and the pixel arts and the music are great!! This title definitively is a full 5 stars to me!! Congrats, Really!!  (and Thank You for submitting your game!!)

Ok, Now is Feedback time:

  • I know I've already said that, but the music and the pixel arts are great!! (Especially the monsters, they are super cute!!)
  • I would had preferred if you have jumped with Space instead of W, imo the jump key and the movement keys should be separated (idk why really, i just feel more "in control" that way), but is ok like this too
  • The wall sliding and wall jumping feels soo smooth to do
  • Actually, everything about the movement feels smooth and great to do
  • Also, i know platforming isn't really the (main) focus of this game, but the jump could borrow some Koyote Time and Jump Buffer from platformers
  • Also you can't drop down of platforms with S :C
  • The game feels very polished!! Good Job!!
  • I would personally separate the text in the Attack banner, as it might be too much in one small space imo :3
  • Also, some images in the banners would feels way nicer imo =D
  • "U" for respawning... Why not "R" tho?? I'd make much sence and it would be more intuitive... 
  • The ability that you do more damage with less health is cool, but barely noticeable...
  • ...And because of that the ability to hurt yourself is never used by the players, and feels pretty useless
  • Found the easter egg. Yay!!!
  • The SFX should have a random pitch each time, or some other form of variation. Bonus points if you manage to make two different SFX for when you hit an enemy or not
  • The melee attack is super cool...
  • ...The lighting bolt, on other hand, meh not so much :/
  • The melee attack can lead to some creative moment. That's a plus for me
  • The melee attack is more useful to moving than to attack (PS. every time I'll use it, i feel like Pikachu while doing it... xD)
  • The melee attack it kinda suck at attacking: it feels like his attack duration is smaller than his animation duration (even tho i suspect they are exactly the same). I would give the player a bit of invincibility after they used it
  • There is not enough feedback when you hit an enemy, so attacks (especially the ranged one) feels a bit cheap
  • Normal enemies are too easy to kill
  • The bosses need an health bar in my opinion. They don't feel like boss at all (Just like some buffed enemies)
  • Also, the bosses are way too hard, considering what you encountered before
  • No easter egg on the credits scene back. I'm sad now :C
  • I shouldn't even say that, but no bugs found on your game!! Good Job!!
  • The game has no extrinsic rewards for killing all enemies, so a player could go, at least until the boss room(s), on a pacifist route. Up to you to decide if you like the feature or no (but, if you like it or not, be sure to motivate your player to do as you please)
  • Also, this could be a great game to try to speedrun it
  • Sign me in on the "I love this game" train... Choo choo... (Again, 5 stars)
  • Also, now i'm following you, because if all of your games are like this one, you have quite the talent, and i want to see your next work!!

I really like the visuals and atmosphere of the game! The enemies are really cute, I don't want to hurt them- haha! I like the use of the player's and the enemies' attack strength being tied to your health. Cool game!

Daaamn the control is very very good, I love it. I haven't played katana zero but if the control is good as this game's I understand why is so popular. The visuals are really good too as the use of the theme for balance between the two attacks. When I finished the game I was left wanting more, and this is a fantastic signal. Great game, contoles took a few minutes to grow on me (space for jump would be cool), a invincible frame or 2 at the end of the dash would be a good addition. Some effects when the enemy get hit woud have been nice, because the few first times I melee attacked I didn't knew if I dealt damage or if is bugged.

Really cool game...I liked the visuals and the "easter egg" in the tutorial area gave me a chuckle...sometimes tough I would get hurt at the end of the dash...I think this happened because the dash would end when I was still on top of the enemy...If you ever consider using this mechanic again I'd recommend giving a 0.5 second invencibility frame or something to the end of the dash so we wouldn't get hit in an unfair way...other than that it was really cool =)

Slash is so good, wall slide is good to, but who needs wall slide when he has that slash. I flight through all stages before big dude. Ghosts after big boss is just unbeatable for me. 

Very good character design and animation. Nice music and sounds. Well done!

The mechanics took me a little bit to master, but once I got it, it felt amazing to slash around everything! The animation on the player was really good too! Glad I managed to beat it, well done!

THIS IS PERFECT! it's one of the few games I kept playing for longer than what I expect, the controls are butter smooth, art is great, the application of the theme is good too. This game has potential to be a commercial game! good work <3

Even though I loved the cute pixel art style and the dash mechanism, i do feel like there's some room for improvement when it comes to the vfx and the effects. Was fun playing it and i enjoyed the final fight a lot, I would love to see more levels in the future. Great game 10/10

For starters - the game is fun, intresting, and so on and so on. I realy do fill that way, but lots of people already told you that, so there's no real need for me to do so. Lets better go to criticizm.  So, I've beaten the last boss by using only mouse. The mele atack gives you nearly infinity mobility, especialy if you-re near walls, and both it and th range one allows you to stay in the air for as long as you'd like. So I just flew from one wall to another using meles, climbed up the same way, and shot the incoming ghosts, moving back over them when they came too close. It kinda wasn't that interesting. I think the game should either have more ballanced moveset, or levels that make use of the already existing imbalance. But all of this is mostly relevant in case you are going to develop this game further. What you have for now is still realy cool for a game-jam. Thanks a lot for a fun game!

I had so much fun playing this game. The mechanics are really well made, and that last part while hard, gave me the sastifaction to finally beat it. Would love to see more levels of this kind and the game being expanded. Also, if you have time, can you rate my game? Thanks!

Neat take on the theme i like the forcing the player to switch up between melee and range. This game gave me Mark of the Ninja vibes and i loved the player animations. I did find the melee attack a  bit difficult having to aim it on the person even tho it looked like a slash that would hit a bunch of enemies. Other than that a really fun game!

really like the visuals, however, it would have been nice to haver more visual feedback on if the enemies were getting damaged, and it was hard to attack enemies without damaging yourself. outside of that, the character movement is very good. A+ for fluidity
