Great game! Has a few interesting boss mechanics that you need to learn

Submitted

Probably on of my favorite games this jam despite its few quirks. Especially the third boss was really well made and fun. The second boss music choice was fantastic. My only gripe would be that the bosses (except the third one) are a bit bullet sponge-y and the shield recharges a bit too slowly, getting to parry only 2-3 attacks every 10-15 seconds can get pretty tedious if the boss attacks don't change (this is mainly towards the second boss). Also, I noticed that on an xbox controller, I had to press bumpers instead of triggers for some of the actions, and it made it really awkward. Nonetheless, I had loads of fun in this game, really great job!

this game is fuunnnnnnnnn i love the 3d art imitating 2.5d it's so cool. the gameplay itself is really fun and addicting :)

some things took too long like recharging the shield (it'd be nice to have a meter or something showing how much more you need to char it to get one shield thing back), but it didn't take away from the experience

very fun and addictive game, I just couldn't stop playing

the music is great and the bosses are hard but not to hard

I love the humor and the use of the concept is very nice, actually a lot like our game in the sense of using your trophies from the earlier boss to your advantage in the next boss

Cool game man, simple and nice tho the second boss is a bit to fast with makes really annoying to charge the shield

Good concept. Bosses are a bit random but they are well-made. In the final boss, I would love it if the player could jump sooner after attacking. The delay has killed me so many times T-T. I also think it should be more clear that you can briefly tap the recharge key during the 2nd boss to partially recharge a block. Overall, solid execution of a pretty makeshift game :)

Looks great, the second boss doesn't really give you much time to charge your shield and I felt like the difficulty scale went up a lot right after the first one

In the first chapter (which after several tries I managed to finish) the boss shouldn't be able to change direction when he's jumping to lounge at the player. Apparently onle when he does and he lands there comes a new crate to throw at him which makes the battle purely evading him instead of being active against him, which I found somewhat tedious.

When he starts the rotation attack it goes on for quite a while and he's not even slowed down a lot from doing the rotation, so keeping away from him is really difficult.

I would think he should stop the rotation attack (or continue rotating without pursuit of the player) once he had landed a hit.

For the second chapter I really quite didn't get how to avoid getting hammred. With a bit of luck -I managed to reflect a few of the missiles, but not for long...

Also, at least with my PC gamepad the button assignment isn't correct. the circle button is on the right which is correct, but the cross should be on the bottom but it's the top button (which would be triangle).

Bosses were fun to fight against and I enjoyed the mechanics! The only issue I had was that the shield recharge rate was a touch slow. Great job!

Dash is a little bit uncomfortable, we loved the idea, we loved the game design and we loved this game, I really hope you win!

I came across a few bugs but overall good game.

Great pixel art, and the 2.5D perspective is so cool, though the shield recharge speed could be faster as the windows for using it are quite small, maybe to compensate the bullets themselves could be faster as well.

It was sort of very difficult, I didn't get that you could throw the items backwards or in any direction for a long time.

a lot of fun and nice mechanic. Great made game. Every new scenario is more difficult and there are no real issues i could found

Pretty nice game! Art is well polished and consistent. Good use of the theme too!

By far the best looking game i have seen. I came across a bug before i was about to fight the second boss and it i was unable to play it until i restarted.

Love the 2.5D aspect. I agree with others that charging your shield, while a cool mechanic, takes too long. I was unable to beat the 2nd boss with a few attempts. Looks great though! You should be proud.

The Game looks super fun and really good, the music and sound effect works great with the art style, the controls feel good and it was nice to see a game that it was playable with controls.

The second boss doesn't give you enough time to charge your card medal, I couldn't beat him, a shame because I really wanted to finish the game without using the chapter selection menu

The controls are not that great, at least with a gamepad, I died in the 3rd boss a lot of times because the jump button refused to work when needed.

The Chad boss lines were a nice detail, but that extra thing didnt returned for the other 2 bosses

It was cool to see that to defeat the Eye boss you need to use the environment, the aesthetic /graphics were great!

I only wish the game had better controls

Ok! This is definitely one of the best ones I've played so far. I remembered this one from the discord channel, because of 2.5 graphics. So, lets get to my random thoughts!

Loved the art style, loved the music! No notes here :)

Bosses were great! Every single one was distinct, every one had readable attacks. It took me several tries to beat them, so difficulty felt perfect for me.

Hey! We both had bodubuilder bosses with spinny attacks! Cool!

If I had to nitpick- just three things:

I guess you could've went harder on the theme- makeshiftness (real word, you don't need to check) is more thematic than gameplay based.

The game ended too suddenly- some "You won" screen would be nice!

The first bosses' lines were funny enough for me to chuckle loud enough to wake my daughter up, so I had to stop playing and go to her.

Over all, again, one of my favorites so far.

Keep up the good work!

Appreciate the detailed feedback! Thank you for the kudos! You know I'm a programmer by trade, and I've received a lot of appreciation for the art, so I'm really happy about that :D

I agree, with you on your points! Fun fact, one of the things I wanted to add is the player being more obvious in terms of 'makeshift' and it'll be a funny moment where you think the player is losing, but he'll end up just going 'full makeshift' and just using the environment around him:

Carry PILLARS, carry TREES, carry the environment :D But had to trim down the scope!
I agree with the You Won screen :) Wish I could have added some sort of story as well. Glad you liked the lines from the first boss - that was a last minute addition :D

Full makeshift sounds awesome. In fact- one of the first things I did during the first fight was trying to pick up the furniture!

nice art ! like 3d !
