       Fun to play 😄

Wow, so simple, yet so much fun to play. I loved how you played with multiple different door oriented mechanics, loved the momentum preserving jumps, and the fact you could just pick up and place the door. i wish there were more levels cause I think the potential is great, but honestly great job for a jam!

Do check out our game!

Really fun! I liked the mechanics and the levels are well designed. Although the controls could be a bit improved and it needs coyote jump.

i somehow cannot open the door on the first level

So many doorssss.
I really enjoy the experience of doors in this game.

I enjoyed playing this game! The puzzles and teleportation door mechanic added a fun twist to the gameplay. However, the controls felt a bit clunky. Overall, it was a good experience!

👏 Nice game! I really like the fact that you use doors to create teleporters. The concept is easy to catch and you created interesting levels using it.

I just got issue to identify doors that required a key and the others.

The concept of preserving the velocity when entering the door was interseting, and it is introduced in a very good way. Grabbing the door also has a lot of potential, I wish there were more levels using that mechanic. Level 4 was somewhat a difficulty spike, but pretty nice game nonetheless :)

Aweosome game, the visuals, the audio and the gameplay are all awesome. That door moving mechanic was very creative.

I'm also in the jam, and I know with more time everyone has a list of things they'd like to add or wanted to add. I try to provide the listed feedback in a constructive form to highlight different perspective as a player, and to show that I indeed did play the game.

  • Very solid polish. A tutorial built into the first levels of progression is a very strong way to introduce players to more concepts.
  • I did try to jump in the air when going into the doors; Thought it was a cool height increasing mechanism sort of like portal where you can increase height of the player on the output door to unlock other mechanisms.
  • Around level 4 I felt like there wasn't enough flow to the game. Lot to hold within memory, especially when I died by mistake. I wasn't sure if I respawned from the start, a checkpoint, and then I got confused about the ordering of which way to go to complete the level.
  • Wish the name had not been the theme. Something like, "Traveller Fox" and having it in the thumbnail bottom emptiness or the very top would have worked well.
  • Just noticed the game's actual name is Somewhere Door, but itch page has it as "What's Behind The Door"
  • Other mechanisms to consider in the future would be grappling hook

Solid game!

The biggest problem with the game in my opinion is that the controls feel really clunky and needing to start the level over because you failed a blind jump is pretty frustrating. Puzzle's are pretty easy, but the clunky controls make them feel pretty annoying.

If you want to make the game better I would advice looking at the https://gmtk.itch.io/platformer-toolkit and adding coyote time. I would also recommend leaning more to the puzzle elements and less to the platformer elements

Developer

thank you for the feedbacks and the suggestions:D
