Nice game and graphics but I figured out that the enemy needs to be a certain range to be attacked.
First things first, the game was really hard for me to play for me.. I think it might be a skill issue from my side but I would like to ask you to tone it down a little bit. But leaving that aside, the game was good and had a very smooth gameplay experience. The game could use a bit of a feedback and effects while hitting. But once we get going in the game it is very much fun. And also good work with the art.
And a small suggestion, you could have added some doors which spawn allies to help us defeat the enemies which could make the game more in line with the theme as right now it is more like to fight and survive kinda game.
Once again really great work with the jam and you have wonderful game to show for your effort.
Have a great day! :
i think there are 2 invisible plataforms in arcade mode? and when there's too many enemies on screen they start pilling up. I actually managed to get to the limbo by doing that lol. Also the soundtrack could loop
The theme implementation is really bad. You should not just put the theme into the story and call it a day; that's not how game jam themes work.
The sword system feels really unresponsive and there were multiple instances where my attacks didn't register. I couldn't managed to complete even the first level because of that. Also the enemies like to jump under you and launch you upwards which is not ideal.
Here are some ways you could improve the game overall:
- Add knockback to both the player and the enemy when hit, so the getting stuck thing you mentioned doesn't happen anymore.
- Make the UI less cluttered. I literally have no idea why there's so much random text on screen.
- If you make a pixel art game, make sure everything is pixel consistent. Because you used third party assets, this made your job much harder as you scaled up certain sprites. You could hide the issue with a pixelation effect.
- The enemies should either move slower or faster than the player, never at the same speed. Idk why but it just feels wrong like that.
- You can add a ton of juice to this game, like screen shake, hitstop, more flashes, a bunch of particles etc.
- Static camera follow makes the game feel like it was made by a beginner as it's a low effort solution to a very important aspect of the game.
There's probably a bunch of other things but I already said enough. Get to work because this game needs it.
Good work on this, could use more polish and testing. Found it very difficult, great work overall! c:
I really enjoyed the game but I will admit I found it very difficult and unfortunately couldn't finish level 3. The art is very well done. Great work on the jam!
Wonderful graphics. The gameplay can use some help to be a bit less funky, but overall the idea comes across and i love the style. I hope you continue to work on this honestly, I think you can do great with more time!
Hey man! Concept is good but the art takes the price!
Really well done.
I really love the art! I felt like I was always stunlocked, and when I jumped I kept getting stuck on enemies. Has loads of potential I would love to see it gets updates!
Starting with good - art is really great, animations are cool (though sometimes buggy? idle animation looked like blocking), and also the music and sounds fit quite well. Different enemies looked interesting, especially the dark red knights.
About gameplay I'm mixed. It's really repetitive and one way'd - you hit enemy, jump behind it while they're stunned, repeat, repeat. Either that, or you get repeatedly stunlocked and die. Though it was cool to grasp how it works and kill multiple enemies without getting hit.
Also I suppose that "You win?" is the end? It doesn't seem to progress further
