Fun little cooking game, love how it connects to the theme! I feel like 8 directional movement would be nice to have, but it's very well made! Would love to see more levels in the future!
very great game! nobody would've thought of a cooking game while still taking on the theme! and the game is very well made! i would love to see more levels and more gameplay in the future!
I like the take on the theme! I think having the timer as the first 'challenge' is frustrating because I had no control over if the right ingredient came out, so I wasted valuable time just going between cabinets without the right ingredient. Great work putting this together!
Interesting interpretation of the theme!
Felt like my luck matter more then my skills, otherwise that, was a really fun game to play!
Super neat idea for the theme! This my first cooking game I find here so very original! Nice sounds and music!
As what I experienced is that I kinda didn't need all the doors cause I just kept going to the same it respawned quicker. As for visuals the art wasn't the same it felt off! And with the last level the sounds where a bit janged it seemed like it plays more than once (it was louder than other levels)
Overall really great game and I love to see more improved version of it!
I completed the artwork just before the deadline, so it may look unfinished. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to add the cool-down timer. Thank you for your feedback.
Nice take on the theme =)! The graphics are cute and the sound integration is a nice touch, I love the atmosphere!
I don't know how you thought about a cooking game when reading the theme, but I'm glad you did ^^! The idea is really interesting, and honestly, now I cannot stop thinking about the chaos of an "overcooked" clone, but with random ingredients xD.
Game-design wise, the concept is solid and I would love to see it expanded after the jam=)! However, the doors should have a timer to respawn an ingredient instead of just doing so when the player uses it. In that state, I can stay in front of a door, pick the ingredient, discard it, pick again, discard it, etc., until I find the ingredient I need, defeating the base idea of random ingredients ^^'.
The controls were fine, the character is responsive, but arrow keys support to move would have been a plus ^^'. I don't use a QWERTY keyboard so the controls where a bit weird by default xD. Not being able to move diagonally was also a bit frustrating, but otherwise, moving and doing actions felt good!
Overall, I enjoyed playing this! The little nitpicks I mentioned are completely acceptable for a 7 days game jam, but what struck me the most is the very good concept. It's the kind of game that brought me a lot of ideas while playing, like "hey, there should be more recipes, so you could always do something depsite the randomness, but you should find what", "there should be a timer for the doors", which means that I feel like this idea has some potential. That's a very nice idea with a good execution... Congrats!
"The idea was inspired by the game Overcooked. I added a cooldown feature for the door, but it caused a lot of bugs, so I ended up removing it. The game was originally meant to have 10 levels, 20 ingredients, power-ups, and environmental hazards, but due to time constraints, I wasn't able to add all of them. I never considered adding diagonal movement before. Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it."
This seems like chill game!
I've some feedback:
- Might be neat to be able to store ingredients that might be needed for later
- Maybe some recipes need ingredients in a particular order
- Knowing how much of what ingredient for a recipe would help (I got stuck on the pancake one)
- More movement / interactions options could make it a bit more fun. Like a dash or a run or a throw ingredient to pot.
Overall I think it's pretty unique and just want to say great work overall. I like the use of the theme in here.
you just gave me a lot of ideas eg the throw mecha nic the storing
thanks for the great feed back
This is a fun little cooking game! I wish there were more levels. I did find myself sitting at one door and just throwing away and grabbing without moving until I had what I needed and I don't know if that's what you intended. Either way, as a fellow gdevelop user, bravo
I added the cooldown for the door late which resulted in a lot of bugs so I just removed the cooldown
the sound for your game, I love it 😍
Why are the footsteps so loud haha
Sorry for the loud footsteps. Can you give me tips on how to choose the appropriate volume for a footstep?
The best imo way is to set the volume to a number variable that is equal to a slider that the player gets to choose
Very cool concept. And look at that begin menu!
But unfortunately the randomness made the level impossible to complete within the timeframe.
"I didn't have enough time to playtest it. 😭"
Recognisable
Interesting I love cooking games so it's nice but I would say that, let us put the food we don't need somewhere, just to avoid the feeling of " I don't need that ingredient so I'll just throw it away ^^". But I am probably being too emotive here sorry haha. Well done otherwise :)
"I never thought of that idea. Thanks for the great feedback."kSorry, it's just because I worked in the food industry ^^
Keep on working on it, cooking games are cool :)
8 directional movement would be appreciated
8 directional movement instead of 4 would make the game nicer to play
"Can you provide more information about the idea? I haven't tried it before."
Not the other guy, and I've never worked with the engine you've used. I use Unity though, and for Unity, you basically add the "Vertical" and "Horizontal" inputs from the player into the player's movement. I suggest watching some youtube videos on the matter, as you would want to normalize the movement as well.
