How does your game fit the theme?
The monk takes a moment to meditate and be calm between waves. If one is to beat this game they need to be strategic about when they meditate and are calm. If not, they will surely be swept up by a strom of dishes and cutlery.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes

It's challenging right away being started out with just a basic attack that can be used once every few seconds and has very limited range and duration. Interesting! On the wave right after I unlocked magic, then using two heals, it said press P to continue, but even when focused on the game, no buttons would work anymore, so there may be some bugs to consider fixing. Other than that though I think the game was really fun, and liked the music that plays a lot it's very unique!

Great execution of a simple concept - loved the minimalist art style!

very cool!

Nice concept. Didn't know there was a limit to meditation until it was too late lol

I like that the shooting dishes try to run away from you. It adds a lot to the combat because you don't just run away, but also have to chase the enemies sometimes. I had some problems with the controls though, the dash button is not on shift but on another button. The attack also sometimes does not work when clicking just once.

Developer

The dash was working just fine before I uploaded the game to itch. Not sure why it decided to stop. That’s just the nature of bugs though :P. Thanks for playing! Thanks for the feedback!

i liked the idea , the game is so fun and i liked enemies variety but there was a delay in attack with mouse button it made the game hard i hope u fix it

anyway good job i had fun playing the game :D

Thanks for playing. I’m glad you enjoyed it! The attack in its current state works best if you hold down the mouse button. Thanks for the feedback.

I like the idea, but i got soft locked on wave three because p wasn't working

Developer

Thanks for playing! Sorry about the bug. Something to do with animations getting locked. I tried to iron all of those out before the deadline but a few still snuck through.

Simple but fun

Nice game! Like the concept a lot. Some of the actions feel a bit weird, like having to hold click to attack, it feels weird not to be able to attack if you just press once. For the fireball too, not sure I understood what was going on: I pressed once, it worked, and then it never worked again. Lastly, pressing P didn't work so I couldn't finish the game.
Overall some nice work there still!

Fun game. Quite difficult. I liked the use of theme with alternating between meditation and fighting. It's pretty funny to have the monk fighting dishes :D

Hee-ho. Interesting idea. Good gameplay

Cool use of the concept! pretty similar to mine as well. Everything was great about the game, the sounds, the enemy AIs, the meditation mechanical choice, everything. Except for one, the tutorial in the menu. It took me a bunch of tries until i figured out that i had to hold the LMB to attack properly instead of spanning it. And i never got to dash... I didn't figure it out but overall Great Game!

Also it would be a bit better if you got an extra meditation before the final boss if you were out of meditations but you only had 7 days.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I hadn't even thought about restoring one meditation before the boss. Neat idea!

This was a fun challenge! I had to restart a few times to get used to the combat, but I eventually got the hang of it. Overall, well done!

An interesting concept, but it was very hard to actually hit anything.  It seems like I have to stand completely still and lead my attack by at least a second, but it was very unpredictable and wouldn't always fire.

Unique overall theme of your game as well as the take on the game jam's theme. The attack mechanics felt a bit odd at first, but after a bit I got used to the recoil of sorts. Well done!

Absolutely loved the unique take on the theme! The pixel art is charming, and I appreciate how meditation serves as the calm before the storm. The gameplay felt challenging yet rewarding. It took me a little while to get used to the attack mechanics, but once I did, it was a lot of fun. Great job overall!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I'll make sure to play yours too when I can.

Love the theme interpretation, who doesn't love some ramen noodles! It was a bit tough initially especially before the fireball unlock but I really like your different enemies (and how they are plates and pots). Maybe the swing being a bit farther would be easier for a noob like me :D Keep on jammin!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll try to get around to playing yours too.

really liked the pixel art assets! the idea of meditating acting as the calm for the theme is pretty creative too. attacking took me a little bit to get used to, but i still found the game fun whilst being a little difficult still! some aspects seemed a bit small on my screen but still a solid project nonetheless!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll try to get around to playing yours too. And about the size, by the time I thought about changing the size of the objects, it was a bit too late to have it work out

Love the concept and music! was hard to get the hang of attacking especially since it was so zoomed out, but nice job!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! I'll try to play yours too when I can. About the size of the objects, once I realized they were too small it was a little late in the project to change it. Hopefully you had fun regardless!
