Ranked from 29 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your game fit the theme?
It takes place during a highly tense period of rest (calm) right before a major decisive battle (the storm).

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I used some code made by others in the form of plugins (Full credits in the game and itch page). Other wise I did everything from scratch.

Incredible work. That was a wonderful little experience! I like how you took a galactic-level conflict and framed  it all around one physical struggle taking place inside one ship!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the lovely words! It feels great when a player grasps another layer of the work and comments on it <3!

Really fantastic game. The story line is perfect and I also love the art style. Very well done.

Developer

Thanks for playing. Glad you enjoyed it.

Beautifull pixel art style, the history is interesting, and the game is inmersive

Developer

Thanks for playing :D

Very Cool!

Developer

thanks!

Wow this was a very refreshing experience! A super well polished story driven game, with really cool graphics. The commentary on the different forms of political rule was super interesting and made me pause a bit. It really echoed many ideas from Aristotle. Loved the message at the end also!

Really hoped the experience would be longer, definitely something that deserves part 2! ;)

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! I also wish i can make it longer. Someone gave me the idea to use these 2 characters in every game jam I do from now on, and slowly continue to build their story bit by bit. It's an interesting thought and i might do it :)

Submitted(+1)

That sounds super cool! A long term story over multiple game jams sounds like a fun way to tell the complete story. I'll drop you a follow to see the progress if you end up doing it. Best of luck!

Submitted(+1)

Really cute! I enjoyed this. Just wish it were longer and had other gameplay mechanics. Pretty impressive with rpg maker though

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it and appreciate the input. I wish it was longer too. Unfortunately that was all i was able to do with the time given. Hopefully next jam i'll be faster and able to make longer games :)

really nice story! liked the simple tension of the window breaking combined with the correct/incorrect dialogue. felt like it was a fairly synergistic combo. by the way, i feel obligated to plug Axelay, a shmup for the snes. judging by your visual/musical taste you'd probably really like/draw from it. or any snes shmup really. thanks for entering!

ps- i also experienced the copied dude thing, i think it has to do with getting thrown away while an animation is still playing. not sure though

Developer(+1)

Oh i used to love Axelay! Haven't thought of it in ages. I guess it must be ingrained deep inside my aesthetic core. Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for pointing out the double dude; i'll try to recreate what you described to see if he shows up and how i can fix that.

Also, looks like you pushed me to 20 ratings too! Much appreciated <3

That was a super lovely story, and I absolutely loved the art style and music. The ending was really sweet, but sadly the moment was kinda soiled because there was a glitch that caused a copy of the second person to show up. It was an amazing little game, good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and i'm so glad you liked it <3

If you have a moment, could you please give me a little more details about how and when the copy of the character showed up? Did it stay on screen or come and go quickly?  At what point during the game did it appear? I am play testing a lot but am unable to make that happened, so i am curious about  the details so i can fix it for future versions after the jam is done. Thank you again so much

Submitted(+1)

It appeared after I chose the wrong choice and he knocked me back, but I don't remember which choice. Afterwards it stayed there for the rest of the game, until the credits.

Developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this. It's very helpful <3

What a lovely little experience. I haven't played multiple times to experiment with different endings and such (I'm sure something happens if you let the second character break the glass...), but in general it left me with a sense of... peace. Like the calm before the storm, indeed.

I was expecting to see the actual "storm" at some point, and that took me by surprise when it didn't happen, but then it hit me: this is a moment frozen in time, a little chance to capture an interaction in the middle of a crisis, and to see how two people find their lingering hope together.

Loved it, in all its graceful simplicity.

What wonderful words. Thank you for such a lovely review <3 I'm so happy you enjoyed it

i hope you got to see what happens when the second character breaks the glass :)

Submitted(+1)

Loved the presentation. The art and atmosphere were great. I had an issue where another copy of the second guy spawned in while I was talking to him.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed some parts fo it. And thanks for pointing out the issue; I will look into fixing it for the post-jam version.

Great art, wow. Sound design and just the aesthetic overall is well done.

Font is a bit blurry, would be nice if it were crisper.

Loved that failing a dialogue did not mean instant failure.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing! And for your comments. I will see what i can do about the font for an update after the Jam is done.

I hope you got to Game Over at least once, though. It's my favorite thing about the whole game :D

Submitted(+1)

This is really great. Loved the dialogue, it looks and sounds amazing and really feels like a complete, finished experienced.

Really liked how the calm itself created the tension, and we never even had to see the "storm".

Developer

Thanks for playing and i so glad you enjoyed it :)

Beautiful game, never heard of this game engine.

The animations are stunning, and I liked the story as well. Good, good stuff!

Developer(+1)

It's one of the oldest engines out there. 1997 was the first version i think. It is mainly used to make JRPG with minimal programming ability required. I force it to make different types of game.

Thanks for playing and so happy you enjoyed :)

Submitted(+1)

Wow, cool stuff! Sounds like a challenge!

Submitted(+1)

Beautiful game and awesome sound!!  While there wasn't much content, the polish on what was in the game was very well done. Would have loved to see more!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm happy you enjoyed. There will be more in the future!

Submitted(+1)

What a cool idea. It's really the calm before the storm. Well done!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Your game looks supercool, love the pixel arrt in the screen shots but unfortunately I don't have a windos machine to play it :_(

Submitted(+1)

Well done for this game! It's well polished and looks like a finished game!

You were able to convey a lot of emotion in a short time, well done for that too.

Developer(+1)

Thank a lot! I'm happy you enjoyed it! I did my best :)

Submitted(+1)

I loved everything about this. Awesome work!

Developer

Thanks for playing! And for your kind words :)

I liked this, short and sweet. A meaningful take on the theme as well. Nice job!

Hee-ho. Cool art. But I can't stop man from making extra ventilation in ship (I can only move near him and watch, any other button nothing do)

Developer

Thanks for trying!

Did you try pressing Z or Spacebar, as the instruction suggests, near the man and nothing happened?

Are you playing Mac or Windows version?

Submitted

Hee-ho. Thanks for help. I played on Windows. I will try tomorrow and write

Submitted(+1)

Hee-ho. Spacebar was helped me, thank you. I finished game, thanks for nice experience

(Several time have issue, when appears second man with axe)

Submitted(+1)

I really loved the visuals of the game, the animations were very nice. The controls felt smooth too. Overall a very good game, well done!

Developer

Thank you! I wish I can play your game too, but I have a Mac. It seems yours is Windows only :_(
