Ranked from 21 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your game fit the theme?
In the game, the player has a sword that can't defeat any enemy with normal attacks. However, pressing a button causes every enemy hit by the sword to explode, but it can only be done once. Gameplay is based around avoiding attacks until you hit every target in the level with an attack (the calm) then defeating every foe in an instant (the storm).

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I made all the assets and wrote the code myself. Most was made specifically for this game. Some assets and scripts were reused from my previous projects.

Nice job on this! Once you get that perfect run and destroy everything at once, you feel like a bamf. Definitely deserves more ratings. ^-^

Developer

Thank you!

Cool game! I like the combo of it being action as well as combo!

Game is a bit unforgiving but maybe I just need to git gud :) I like the art style, simple and effective!

Developer

Nah, you're right, there are some sections that are too difficult, and the water is just awful to dash through. I think I made it a bit better in the patch, but I'm not sure as I played these levels a lot so I got used to it working the way it does.

Developer (2 edits)

I will be updating the game with a pretty big patch once the jam ends (probably no new levels though, unless I decide to make some last-minute), so if you liked it, you can play again later to see all the improvements.

EDIT: The update has been released!

Really cool game,  I like the take on the theme!

Developer

Thank you, glad to see that people seem to like the theme's implementation, because I always think that I might've interpreted it too loosely.

congrats on the submission! some of thoses levels are difficult hahaha, well done :P

Could be nice to have some "pre-attack" visuals to know when an enemy is about to strike, I think it would help out a bit and be less frustrating when you die. I think it's a  project with a potential future,  eager to see more ^^

Developer(+1)

I agree with the idea of attack startup animations. I added one for the skeletons mages in the patch. (But I don't know how to make one for the tiny skeleton warrior sprites, and the boss has them, but there is only one, so you can predict that an attack is coming, but not which one.)

Awesome idea! Some of the bigger levels were extremely stressful! Could've used some music, and more sound effects.

Developer

I'd love to have music in the game, but every time I try making some, it ends up sounding horrible. :/

Submitted

It's alright to use public domain music and sounds from online sources, for example: OpenGameArt, FreeSound. I don't want to post external links here, but both sites end in .org

What a creative idea! The game was a blast. I love these puzzle-solving games which also require execution.

Developer

Thanks!

Mechanics are easy to grasp, but challenging. Nice aesthetics as well

Thank you!

An addictive and challenging game! It doesn't give any gifts though, I couldn't pass the level with more than 10 guards ^^ A little more visual feedback would be welcome, for example to show if we hit an enemy or not

Well done for this entry!

Developer(+1)

That was already suggested and I added it to the game! It will be in the post-jam patch I'm making, alongside other features.

Submitted

Cool! I'll play it again after the jam then ;)

The update is out!

Submitted

Yay! I'll try this asap!

It doesn't work on my web browser (it doesn't stop loading), do you have a Windows version by any chance ? ^^'

Developer(+1)

Added a windows build.

I really liked the art and sound on display here, felt simple yet classic! The main mechanic was also very cool and creative! Good job!

Thank you!

Nice Game! I liked the graphics and the movement

Thanks!

Great game! Everything worked perfectly. The one thing I would change though, is that you die if you land in the water after your dash. Even if just one pixel of your shoulder is over the edge of the water, you die. I think the dying is fine, but would be better if it decided if you died based off of the center of the player.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I'm trying to make the water less annoying but I haven't come up with a better implementation yet.

Submitted(+1)

Awesome game! The art design was great and the gameplay loop was very satisfying. I wish that there was some indicator that things were hit so I would be sure that I'd cleared everything. Well done on the submission

Developer

It's a very good feature suggestion.

Finished the whole game, was a bit hard but fun. The water was a bit frustrating to dash over, smaller hitboxes would be nice there.
Otherwise very fun and good looking game, polished. I like this implementation of the theme a lot! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'm aware of the water mechanic being kind of unpleasant to interact with, but smaller hitboxes probably wouldn't help. The way it is implemented is just rough, and I didn't really have time to come up with a more elegant solution.

I totaly understand. It was enjoyable either way! :D
