Played a few minutes and sold some fish. Calming and relaxed gameplay from what I played.
The art has a lovely charm to it and the voice effects and typing sounds lent themselves well to the style of the game. Great submission!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for your time playing our game, it's really amazing ! I'm really glad you had a calm and relaxing time.

Super cool game! Liked the card mechanic, although it took me a while to figure out that stuff I was fishing could also be equipped as an item.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot ! Oh yes indeed now that you mention it it's not really clear that you can.

We'll definitely look after that during our next jam, thanks for the feedback and your time 🙏

The dialogue text is a bit buggy when you spam the spacebar xd, but the art style is cool. On most days, I couldn’t find any fish, which made the gameplay feel a bit slow at times, but overall, great job!

Developer

Ahah Indeed It is buggy. Thanks a lot, we are really glad you took some time to test our game !

Regarding your feedback about not finding any fish, you mean that you could only see card fishing spot instead of fish fishing spot ?

Anyways, thanks again for your time.

veryyy polished ,almost like a full real game, and damn this pixel art... I strive to achieve this level! :))

Developer

Ow that's really sweat thanks a lot 💙 Our artist is just one of the best, we're proud to be working with him !

The idea is cool, a very fun game!

For a while, I didn't understand that you have to drag and drop the item you just caught, and I often found myself on consecutive days having to return to the dock to sleep just because there were no fishing spots I could reach with the remaining fuel. "Storm" was not found.

Developer(+1)

Oh my ! Really sorry to hear about your issue.. indeed you're not the only one that told us about that, we wondered the night before the jam's submission if we should change it but didn't in the end cause we were running out of time already. Well that's exactly why we should have playtested the game with friends and family during the week !

Anyways, thanks a lot for your time. It means a lot.

By the way, the storm is at the right end of the map in the oceanic biome but indeed, not really there ahah. We mostly focused on the "calm before" part of the theme rather than "the storm".

I completely understand. You all did a very great job!

Relaxing vibes. Nice implementation of Dredge-like mechanics! Excellent artwork.

I found it really easy to run out of fuel which made the beginning feel very slow.

Great submission!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Wow thanks a lot for you review, indeed Dredge was one of the main inspiration we took ! About the fuel, youre totally right. To be honest it can really depend of the RNG, on my side I had playthroughs were I manage to finish the game without having to sleep at all, and also some unfortunate times I had really slow runs where not a lot of fishs / cards spawns and these cases are indeed really slow... We'll definitely look into this if we rework on this game.

Thanks a lot for your precious feedback, it means a lot !

Really fun game! i got hypnotized by this game is quite impressive how much polished it is for just a 1 week game, good job!

Developer

Thanks a lot, we're really glad you enjoyed it that much !

Wow! This is really cool, impressive to be done in just 1 week! The art is amazing, really well done. I like the concept and atmosphere of the game it is great and the art and audio tie it all together.  I wish there was more to do at the town, you have a really cool dialogue system but unless I missed it you can't interact with the npcs that much, it felt like this game could have a Stardew valley style character system with quests to get certain fish for people. I liked the fishing mechanic but I would make the hook go down by itself all the time to make it a bit more difficult or maybe have a difficulty setting. The boat movement on the waves was cool but it sometimes felt a bit unnatural.  Also if there is free inventory space I wish when you fished an item it was automatically placed in the first free spot.

Overall really impressive. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your review full of insights, indeed the stardew valley vibe with the characters might be a great aspect of the game if more developed ! We will definitely think about that in the upcoming days/week of development ! And 100% agree with boat movements, we'll rewrite it this week using shaders and noise based algorithm with a real buoyancy system because the actual one is just a collider slightly under the visible wave line so not the most accurate and flexible system and is also quite cost heavy on the player's computer. And the fishing will also be reviewed to be more user-friendly.

Once again, thanks for your in depth review :)

Impressive, the best game I've tried so far.  Really fun.  I've got no negatives.

Developer

Wow, that's a really nice review that puts me out of words ! Thanks a lot, it really motivates us to continue working on it.

Really well done! I can tell you like Dredge lol. Of note, the background sprites in the town are just great looking. The water effects were nice as well. Cheers!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Ahah Indeed that was one of the main inspirations ! Like "What would it be if dredge was a 2D side scroller ?" 😂 Thanks for your awesome review anyway !

Submitted(+1)

Lovely game ! Definitely one i'll come back to try to finish !
Really liked the pixel art and the fishing mechanic is easy to understand and use !
The audio settings almost gave me an heart attack when i tried to turn up the music to the max because i thought they were bugged at first hahahaha

Nice work !

Developer(+1)

Thanks for taking some of your time to review our game ! Sorry for the heart attack 😂 We added the sound menu just before submitting and didn't test it as much as we should have, we'll definitly fix that later though
