How does your game fit the theme?
When I heard Calm before the storm, I thought of bullet hells. This is because at the start, bullet hells are simple and easy but as time progresses, they slowly increase in difficult.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I made some assets myself and some I got online. I made sure to credit the assets I got online. I mostly wrote the code myself but I used YouTube videos for things like knockback and player movement etc and also other sites like Godot documentation.

fun game wish there would be more chaos to show the storm it just felt like constant waves with no calm also enemies seemed to spawn so far away at the beginning of the game. another small thing you might want to change is ammo counting down instead of up
Very nice art and music! Enjoyed the game very much! Especially like the main character and animation of it. Simple and effective.
Some feedback:
- Art inconsistency is very noticeble in this entry... I wish background was stylish as player and enemy sprites. Reminds me ToeJam and Earl in some ways.
- More about art inconsistency. DIfferent pixel art styles and pixel sizes work not great togeter. Also, some background sprites were on top of enemy sprites.
- Ammo counter was confusing. It was going up and not down as usual in games
- Enemies can hurt you while dying which was unexpected
- Player "hurt" effect wasn't clear enough for me. Maybe a little sound effect or more visual elements to show "hey, you was hurt by something"
- Didn't understand the difference between blue and red hearts
- The "tutorial dude" required you to be at some specific point which I still don't understand was a little bit strange for me. Maybe just allowing show tutorial text when close enough could work better. Also, it might be not need to have this guy for the whole game as if player started to play for some time it's unluckly player needs to check him again.
Overall very cool, stylish and dynamic top down shooter. Liked it a lot, thanks!
Nice art, nice mechanics. Liked the recharging animation, making the character spin the gun. A bit confusing the fact that when you shoot a counter goes up (instead of down, like traditional games, for ammos), I think it was intended for some sort of "overload". Would have been nice an interactive tutorial instead of a text wall, other than this nice arcade style game :)
another reminder that having a week long game jam creates absolute gems. loved it
Cool!! I like the art and it's like juicy movement when i right click if it's right description lol
nice work godot mate!
Nice bullet hell/rougelike, i like how the weapon feels to shoot. but if I'll be honest I found the graphics to be somewhat sloppy. I would maybe see if removing all the smaller trees/mushrooms scattered around the map will do anything. It also seems like there's supposed to be grass because trees are there in the first place? it's weird lol. The music and sound effects in general also seem to be very quiet. But still, this was pretty fun to play!
Pretty cool and polished. Cool 2D shooter with a nice style. I would like more variety in the enemies, but I understand that there was not much time. Good job
Nice, I felt the dashing to reload was a nice touch, it eventually had me dashing all over the place.
Cute game, I absolutely love the art style for the enemies and their animations! 5/5 on graphics. Final score was 1460, but i realized that the score didnt reset on death :( It was nice having some slightly different enemy types, but some that shot at you might be fun, and awarding varying points would be good too. My hand is also very tired from all the clicking, maybe some kind of hold-down firing would be a nice respite for my wrist :)
For arcade games like this, i like to recommend what our team did, and use the LootLocker SDK that lets you easily host leaderboards online for games like this. Super simple to use, just need an API key, and then call an endpoint with score and username/id. Would love to see how I compared against others!
Nice little game!
It was fun! Great job! Cool visuals, simple controls. Really enjoyed playing it!
A bullet hell genre also was our first choice =) We just mixed it with adventure for extra calmness in the begining XD
The visuals and audio are so satisfying!
This game is a lot of fun! The gameplay is smooth, and I loved the balance between action and the dash mechanic. Solid submission with great visuals and audio!
This one is a LOT of fun. I would have liked to see some progression or have the games difficulty get higher a little bit quicker, but I was hooked none the less. Great submission thank you for posting in the thread!
Really nice take on theme, with skill upgrades this could be a really fun mini project!
Gameplay was fluid and fun and the dashing and reload mechanic felt really nice. Visuals and sounds are great. Good job!
Yes as the theme suggests the visuals are really calming, the glow of the sprites is just amazing.
Well Done.
NGL, game is fun through and through. Though it lacks in weapons, enemy variation and upgrades. Personally, I would like to have some kind of your own twist in it. And I appreciate, the reload animation don't think I didnt notice haha. Nice submission ^^
Really fun game! Love the visuals and sounds! Do you have to do something to actually unlock the blazer? I got my score over 500 but didn't get the new weapon.
