I really liked the atmosphere the music and visuals created. Though the controls were a bit difficult and twitchy. I maybe would have helped if the camera angle could be controlled with your mouse, instead of the controls itself. I was also a bit confused where to go and what to do, but I just kinda went everywhere and I still had much fun. Very well done, congrats! And if you have some spare time, feel free to check out my game as well ;))

In what way does your game fit the theme?
It is taking the rewind theme into a personal note. How people want to turn back choices. In this case in the absurd situation.
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all code myself. Designed the level and game myself. I used assets I bought and am licensed to use.

The visuals and music are very relaxing in this game. Is like a real life walk in the park.
The character movement feels very slow, rotating with A,D feels very unatural when most games use WASD to strafe. Not saying is bad to try new things but in this case really breaks the inmersion when you get stuck between a corner or something like that.
The overall look of the level is gorgeous but the level design could use a bit more polish to help guide the player towards the goal.
I couldnt reach any part of the story that told me how the game fits into the "rewind" theme since I never did any gameplay other than moving around.
Good job and congrats on finishing the jam.

Nice atmosphere. I liked the design!
Could you please play and rate my game as well?
I liked a lot the style the game has and the music feels nice. If only the controls were a bit different it would have been way better. Controlling the camera with the mouse would have helped a lot. Still, really good game, well done! Would appreciate if you could rate mine :)
The controls and camera are both weird in this game. It doesn't feel satisfying when moving around, especially when you find walls and places you can't pass through. And I think the footsteps so annoying I'd rather have them turned off. It's a sound put on repeat when you walk that doesn't even sync with footsteps.
That being said, the low poly style is pretty neat and the music is nice. It seems to have an interesting world too. Nice game
I LOVE the low poly art style, and the music fits in perfectly with everything else. The only thing that I found needed improving was the player controller; the movement felt really wonky. Also, the white text can sometimes be hard to read. But other than that, the game is so much fun. Well done!
I love the atmoshpere of the game and very nice modelling, music fits well too. I 'd love to play in a world like this! Well ye some key bindings are intresting but thats ok and for me the movement was a bit wierd and hard. Nice job though :)
I like how you made an open world game for a game jam and it is an interesting take on the theme. But, for the player movement, I'd really like the player to not stop when turning.
The other thing I'd like to point out was I was confused on where should I go and what to do and all. Maybe something broke when I was trying to play it or I missed something?
And would prefer if you made the text darker. I couldn't read the dialogues and before I could make up what's written the dialogue ends. Maybe add a option where we need to press a key to bring up the next dalogue?
The visuals, audio and art styles are stunning. Its a pretty innovative game. Great Job!
The concept is innovative, and the 3D visuals are fantastic! There are a few things to mention though:
1) The music would stutter when switching scenes (since I was playing the HTML5 build. So you should've loaded scenes asynchronously.
2) Whilst the 3D visuals are great, the UI of the dialogs were very eye-straining for me and I could barely read the white text on a bright screen.
3) The movement felt kind of weird. I wish the player wouldn't stop when turning around. I feel like it can be improved in many ways.
Other than that, you did a good job!
Hi Danial, thank you for the precise and honest review. A quick reply:
1. The scenes ARE loaded asynchronous, but I am afraid the music file was too big.
2. I created a Narrative UI object with black text, but for some reason the white one mostly loads first (causing the second to die :( )
3. Yes, the movement isn't on par. This because I created my own blendtree and movement script. It was a trade off, but as you say, it can (and will) be improved.
After the jam rating ends, I will update the game with all the remarks below (and some I got through other channels). I am very grateful for the constructive feedback.
I like the concept, but I don't know if it just me, but the game keeps on breaking on me.
I don't know where the invisible walls are and I keep on going in places I can't go back from.
The art style and sound are nice, but sometimes I have flickering effects. Also one time the main character talked. I don't know if it was intentional or if he should always talk. This feels odd to me.
Also I have no idea what to do after the campfire. Maybe it broke more than I thought. Or I'm just stupid. That can be a possibility.
But I do like the concept and I wish to properly play it. Hopefully it's just me that can't enjoy it.
I think you have a point that the invisible walls could have been done better (like with the hedges or fences. I will do that in the update. The issue with 'not knowing what to do', yeah you are stupid...NO OF COURSE NOT. It means that I didn't make some of the required points clear enough. Thanks for pointing that out. I have tried to improve it, but that doesn't mean it is good. I will look into it.
The breaking by the way, might be regarding to your pc. Have you tried the download?
Thank you for your review and giving me pointers!
(Hint: After the campfire (in the winter scene), you walk to the skeleton and the story evolves further.)
"Don't underestimate the stupidity of the users" - a very wise man.
I tried the downloaded version but the visual glitches are still there. Idk, maybe my graphic card is fried after all.
Plus I can't find the skeleton. Is it in a dark shadow because I can't see anything in those.
Oh, and don't worry, I have a diploma in stupidity so I know how idiotic I can be sometimes.
This game has lots of potential, but the movement was a bit strange. Very good overall still!
i like the graphics and design. My only suggestion is that to kinda fix the player movement and i think it would be better if the camera is above the player because its really hard to see if the camera is behind the player. i really hope you also try out my game https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/724417
Great Going I enjoyed playing this, I like the environment design and attention to detail,
Maybe you can check out my game its also a thirdperson adventure I think you would like.
Really nice modelling style and the story was pretty compelling :)
I like games with Low Poly graphics, I really enjoyed the theme. The music is soothing and relaxing. I found the move a little hard, nothing to get in the way. Congratulations on the work.
