In what way does your game fit the theme?
You need to rewind a cassette by plattforming on it.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
We did everything ourselves, exept the character. (THX Brackeys for that)

It's fun! I liked it. It's got a unique aesthetic and I really enjoyed the style you went for.

The control of the main character is a bit cumbersome. His movement is a bit too rigid, so sometimes it seems that the jump height is not consistent. In the first time you need to jump over a mushroom and then over a set of boxes I had some trouble because of that.

Otherwise it's fun! Good job :)

Fun game, I liked the rewinding cassette and solid platforming. I even found the secret!

The game is short but fun, and the visuals are really inspired and captivating.  I also liked a lot the fact that you carefully guide the player so he doesn't feel lost, and, let me tell you, the ending was trippy

As for the feedback:
the controls, especially the jump, fells a bit sluggish. It becomes very evident when you are trying to reach an elevated platform
you can get soft-locked: to me, it happened right after the castle, since i used the key to open the door back (I thought I'd find some sort of secret)
moving objects, like cannonballs and balloons seem to be parented to the player, so they then to follow/get away from you. I don't know if this is intended, but it doesn't look right

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, you were the first one to bring it up, but now that I think about it, you're right, being able to open the door from the back, while promising secrets at the beginning, feels a bit irritating if nothing is hidden there (might include something there in the post jam version (: ). Also the thing with balloons and cannon balls was intended to break up the game a little bit, I think it worked pretty well, but I totally get your point, we're the developers after all, so we might have a different feeling about that.

so the idea behind this was that the character is walking on the cassette like on a treadmill, so the player itself does not actually move and the objects pop up along the tape. But the bullets and balloons spawn in the "real world", the world the cassette is in, they are not affected by the tape. Thx for your feedback though!

really cool and fun little game!

can you please check out and rate my game too?

Developer

Sure, thank you for your feedback, although it wasn't really specific (;

I liked the idea of rewinding the tape to move

This is a great stylized game. Its super unique and its a great concept. Something super unique that really makes me smile when i play it.  Thank you for this one

Very nice game design you have. the only issue i have is the player where i feel a little bit not in control. the music could do some singleton as well :) great job you guys!

Developer(+1)

THX for your feedback, I just wanted to know what you ment with the singleton with the music. Not sure what you are trying to say here, but maybe its just me ;)

Submitted(+2)

your BGM restarted everytime i go from main menu to game scene. it would be good if the BGM just continue playing when new scene loads :)

Very nice game, you can definitely feel the passion of the creators in this one.  From the transitions, the music, the aesthetic, it's all very nice.  The ending is pretty funny too.  However, I got soft-locked once in the area with the balloons and the trees, in between the large tree and the door you can get there without a key and be trapped since you can't phase past the tree.  Also the controls seem kind of slow to register unless that's only an issue with the Web version.  That aside, the models and lighting were great, along with the concept, I can see with game ranking highly in the jam or maybe even winning, who knows.

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thank you so much for the feedback, as we know by now, there are a few soft locks in the game :/ maybe we fix them in a later version. Really hope that we win ;) But I dont think so,  there are so many good games out there! (Really optimistic right there)

Absolutely love this game! Super creative story and lovely ending

Love it, absolutely fun to play ! Secrets are so worthy to find  and give quite a lot of satisfaction when finding. Fit the theme as you rewind tape as you go. One of my favorite games in this jam so far.

One thing id like to be added is more length to the level because completing the game felt sad as i loved it so much i wanted it to continue endlessly. Keep me updated for any future of this project id definitely love to play it  and also if you need any help hit me up im always up to help everyone !

If possible give my game a shot as well and tell me how you like it. Thanks for making this masterpiece.

Thank you for your feedback,

It makes me really happy to see (or read) that people enjoyed this game, and that the levels are to short may be a popular game jam problem ;) we as the developer team thought about continuing, or remaking the game, without the hesitation of the time limit, for example for more and longer levels.

Loved the game! I think you just nailed it, the aesthetic is very minimalist but has a great potential. It's a great tiny game!

Really nice use of the theme and interesting ending. Nice job!

Yo’ Templar here,

  • The art fits the game well.
  • The music is great.
  • The main mechanic is fun and lends itself for some interesting puzzles and platforming, if expanded upon.

Somethings to note would be:

  • It feels like there’s a slight input lag
  • Controls are overall a little bit unresponsive, or just not fluid enough
  • I got stuck in the castle section, there are 2 platforms, 3 boxes, and a door, didn’t jump past the door but fall right before it, and then I couldn’t return to the platform as the boxes didn’t let me pass.
  • You can also do some mad hops when you chain jumps, like from one box to the other right above it almost as soon as you do the first jump.

Thank you for your detailed feedback, it's always great to get something like that as it really helps to get better! Also I would agree with all you said.

Super cool idea and it worked really well! I wish the background music had played based on the tape but that might have got annoying after a while too so hard to say :D

Submitted(+2)

Nice game. Liked the mechanics of rewinding.

Submitted(+2)

wow nice game with amazing music and by the art side game looks so good

Submitted(+2)

Loved the audio, loved the mini story. Enviorment was great. Good job!

Great relaxing game, I wish I could finish it, but unfortunately I was stuck with a door to my right, a platform above me, and three boxes to my right. Well done though

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thats frustrating I guess. As we did the last changes on the project, we changed the position of the platform to make the jump easier, unfortunatly it semms to have created a trap ;) hope you enjoyed it, although you missed the balloons :)

Submitted(+2)

Very nice cute little game :) well implemented concept for the rewind system. It was fun to play it over!

Submitted(+2)

The ending was really good and also rewinding the scene to complete the obstacle at the next scene was really cool

Submitted(+2)

This is awesome! What a clever idea for the theme! platforming on a cassette tape, genius! Hope you learned a lot this jam and keep it up~ please check out my simple game if you haven't :D
