Ranked from 54 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
Midnight special not only literally has a rewind interaction within the game, you will find that the entire premise of the story revolves around a spirits own past and a groundhog day style time loop. Spoilers, but that's probably important!

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, the majority of it save for the sounds.
All images were photomanipulations I did with Adobe Stock licensed images and Pexels stock images, as well.
No code was taken from the asset store, although I did look at dialogue system tutorials along with unity documentation.
Finally, sound assets are not mine, all sounds are from the Unity Asset Store.

That's genuinely scare. Probably not a good idea to play it at midnight after playing all those colorful jam games and expecting something similar.
I loved the atmosphere, I was so afraid of a possible jump scare that I had to reduce the volume and quit full screen mode. :D

Great game!

This is so good!! the spooky vibe is on point, I felt totally immersed!

I'm so happy you played mine! Very flattering considering your games are super immersive themselves :)

Really cool game! Playing this at 1am in my dark room maybe wasnt the best idea cuz it really scared me! Great work!

I didn't expected that you could make that atmosphere with only clicking one button, awesome

The game is awesome, really got me scared at some point. The sound is 5 out of 5, but it is not yours right? What a shame... But anyway I had some great moments playing, it is not a diamond of course, I would say is not for every kind of player but I loved it. I can definitely imagine this game on VR, why don't you try this idea out?I would be amazing!

Nice job on the game, keep up with the good work! Have you tried mine?Check if you want, thx!

Developer

Thank you! I would love to make this a vr game actually, that's a good idea! Also yeah, I sadly didn't but to toot my own horn I spent ages pairing layering them together for the right feel. I'm happy you liked it, will be playing your game now!

Nice atmosphere. overall cool experience. Nice work!

The creepy atmosphere makes me anticipate a jumpscare the entire time. The audio does add to the creepiness. One thing I found is that the very last subtitle was a little off. Other than that, a neat short horror experience. Good job! Rated!

Developer

Ah do you mean the sentence itself or the timing of it? I remember replaying it after submission and thinking "wow that doesn't make much sense without the line before.." lol

Submitted

I think it was the sentence itself and one of the letters got carried over to the end scene

Very nice atmosphere thanks to the amazing sound design and the distortion effects. I was anxious anticipating a jumscare, but even though there was one, it wasn't that bad.

A memorable experience, good job!

This game is just oozing with atmosphere, and sticks out from the crowd in a great way. Honestly, there's little I can say that hasn't already been said by previous comments; it's just a really nicely crafted horror-like experience.

I was desperately mashing the rewind button when all that "Turn back" stuff appeared. God this got me good. Wow

Small note: This probably needs a photosensitive epilepsy warning. It got me a bit nauseous in a dark room. i know it's on your game page, but here too.

*Love* this project. I think it was so aesthetically cohesive, both with visuals and sounds. I wasn't afraid but I never lost interest. I think the ending also fit very well with the theme!

Very cool! It's a nice little spooky experience. Very much worth playing through. I found it a bit slow at first, but I'm glad I stuck through it to the end!

Spooky

Hi, I played your game. I found it a tad slow, and it felt like I had no input with what was happening . The concept is very cool though and the atmosphere is very good. You might want to add an epilepsy warning, btw.

Developer

I totally forgot to add that warning, thank you for the reminder! Also I really appreciate that feedback. I wanted to really focus on the narrative bit and allow more player agency at the end, but sadly I had to downscale it a lot on the last day of the jam.

Submitted

Well man I played this through. It is I would say an intresting work :) The theme and the art fits quite well with the sounds. It's much like a film. Anyway nice job!

Submitted

Very, very scary! I was not expecting this genre in this jam and you made a GREAT job!

Much spooks, very scary!
