Good use of theme as well as implementation. The art style is simple and pleasant.

The only not very convenient thing that I noticed is that I had to run around the location from one corner to another many times by different characters.

But overall I liked the game. Good job!

Very fun game and nice art, good interpretation of the theme.

A very interesting game! I liked the concept of different characters having different abilities.

I would suggest more intuitive controls, because having right shift to attack and space to switch had me a bit confused at times, but thats an easy fix so don't worry about that.

One other thing is the dwarf sprites were much less detailed than the rest of them so they felt a bit out of place.

Other than that, a very well put together and unique game!

Developer(+2)

We'd definitely work on controls a bit (I found clicking was more usable than right shift to attack, which we forgot to mention). Oddly enough, I agree about the dwarves, but after a while, I kind of liked the contrast, so I ended up never coming back to it. Thank you for the suggestions and checking out our game!

Developer(+2)

Hehe yeah, As ATTX said, the dwarf sprites were the first ones created, and we kinda got attached to them as development advanced :)

I think this idea is awesome and executed very well. Good job!

Really enjoyed my experience with the game. The puzzles were top notch, I was surprised at how many levels you got done in limited time. Only criticism is that there was quite a bit of pointless walking back to the goal on a couple of the puzzles, a sprint button would have helped wonders there.

Audio was nice (music was a little repetitive though, but a nice style), graphics were nice and cohesive.

My biggest feedback I want to give about the game is that (specifically on the first level) the game doesn't present it's objective the best. I spent 10 minutes changing browsers on the first level trying to switch to the civilian, and  had almost decided I had encountered a game breaking bug until I saw your comment in the ratings that that was an NPC character and that I could just leave. After that issue, I proceeded to finish the game, as you can see from that screenshot!

All in all though, a brilliant effort of a gamejam entry and a puzzle game that I would happily return to should it continue being developed. Well done to all involved.

Developer(+2)

Thanks a bunch for the feedback. I agree we definitely need more of an indication that the citizen dwarves were not playable, and just there to be saved. I tried to cover it in the tutorial, but yeah a que or prompt during game play would have been nice. :)

Thanks alot for giving our game a try!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for your persistence through the ambiguity between civilians and usable characters and thoughtful feedback! Glad you enjoyed it!

Very nice small dungeon crawler! Cute graphics and well made levels design and puzzles.

Great job! Congratulations!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for checking it out and for the nice remarks!

Submitted(+3)

Wow! You did a great job =) I loved the way each characters are different. I think the game can be even better by having more difficulty because it's easy to "not die". And the music is great but too repetitive. In general, this a great game and I think little upgrades can improve it a lot =)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the comment. We ran out of time to add more enemies and traps/spikes, so I definitely agree with you. And the music was just one small loop that was made; neither of us are very skilled in music yet. Thanks for playing!

Great game! Actually i am inloved with those graphics. Don't know why but i loved those graphics. Really great aproach with the theme and even more having in mind that everything was from scratch.

Amazing!

Developer(+1)

I really appreciate your comments about the graphics. I am certainly not confident in my art skills, so to hear that someone else liked the art means a ton!

Pretty cool game with good visuals and concept.  It was pretty fun to wack and break the dirt, stone and doors.  It does get a little tedious as you have to move everyone to the door even if they are on the farside of the map but that is a small thing.  I personally think it needs a small thing like a timer to make it a little more frantic but maybe not.  The graphics and music works together just needs some more animations I think (would need to add in the ability to wack stuff in 4 directions) and it would be more fluid and fun.  Very nice job!

Developer(+2)

I agree. We wanted to make sure all playable dwarves were alive at the end of each level, however, we didnt get to add any spikes or things that could harm you other than the goblins, so it certainly made the trip to the door a bit unnecessary. Thanks for playing!

Wasn't able to switch the dwarfs but it looks like a nice game :)

Developer(+1)

*Slight Spoilers* I would like to hear more about this if you would reply. Did you make it to level 3? The dwarves from level 1 and 2 are only citizen dwarves who you can't switch to. The first dwarf you can switch to is in Level 3. Switching is Spacebar. If this resolves it, awesome! If not, you might have uncovered a bug.

(+1)

Ah, ok! I thought that I need to get the redhead one from level first to the door too ^^'

Developer(+2)

Ok, cool. Yeah, if we were to continue development on this, we would definitely provide more indication and probably tweak the civilian dwarf sprite to be more obvious, and/or have them disappear after a certain amount of time. Thanks for checking out the game!

Submitted(+3)

The art and music were really good, and I really liked the retro style. I think that the biggest issue is just a few quality of life issues, such as maybe making it so that only one dwarf must be at a door to finish the level.

Submitted(+3)

I really enjoyed this game! The puzzles were good and I thought the gameplay was unique. I think that maybe with 4 directional movement, some of the actions would be less awkward. Overall, good job guys!

Good game. Good length, didn't feel too long or too short, and the puzzle mechanic was simple but allows for a decent variety of levels. I liked the audio too! At the end of levels, it did feel a bit boring bringing all of the players back to the door once everything was gone, but it also was a bit satisfying too (seeing the whole level cleared and all switches activated). Tutorials are definitely SUPER hard to get right in a game jam game, so I would recommend reminding the player what keys to press in-game as well, like when approaching the door for the first time, or approaching an enemy for the first time. The enemies are a good idea, but it's kind of hard to die to them when they are so easy to kill.  Nonetheless, overall I would be proud of this submission! Good job guys!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the great comment and feedback. If we were to continue developing this, we'd definitely add pop up indicators that would tell you what button to press. We ran out of time for more enemies and other things that could make the game more difficult (spikes or traps ect). Glad you enjoyed it!

Pretty fun game!
Your levels and puzzles were fairly well done but I suggest a couple things. I understand the need to make each dwarf a key before leaving the dungeon but I suggest then, putting the door near the end of the puzzle level rather than back at the beginning. For the last level all three dwarves were on the far right side and then I had to travel with each dwarf individually to the door just to reach the "Game End". So either make the door closer to the end or just allow the dwarves to "follow" the current leader.

The only other thing I could mention is the bgm. While it did have that retro 8 bit feel it was too repetitive and was very noticeable. Some variation would have been nice, though I know not everyone can make music I think something longer than 5 seconds would have been preferable.

Also the swing animations were just left and right even though up and down feels like it should be viable.  the hitboxes or collision for the swings was a bit clunky.

Still, overall great work!

Developer(+2)

Yup thank you for the feedback. There was a weird thing with attack animation starting a few frames late I was trying to figure out. Unfortunately we ran out of time and just had to ship it as is hehe. Same for the music, we planned to try and come up with something longer.

Thank you playing and thanks for the comment!

I was a bit confused at the first level because I thought that all dwarfs I collect would need to go to the exit with me by switching and I missed the instruction on hitting "enter" to move on to the next level when you are at the door. So I restarted the game thinking it was a but that I could not switch or end the level - lol. Then I understood how to play it and start progressing along just fine. Good job making this game.

Submitted(+1)

I also didn't realize we had to hit enter to get through the door at first and did the same thing haha

Hey cute game, characters are cute, it's just a tad awkward to to kill the goblins

Fun little game. So cute and adorable. Great job and my congratulations <3
If you will have some time, check it out my game for the jam.

Was fun! The controls felt weird to me, but I got the hang of it. Liked the dynamic of controlling the different characters, it fit the theme well! I see a lot of potential in this game, keep working on it!
