In what way does your game fit the theme?
It's a chaotic bullet hell with loads of explosions, lasers and dynamic camera shake

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Minus the pixel font and some heavily modified by me explosions, cube buttons and gun shot sounds (oh, and one meme,) everything else was completely made from scratch by myself and no assets made before the start of the jam were used (except one easter egg.) Oh, and all of that was made live on stream!

Wonderful puzzle game! I really enjoyed playing! What an interesting menu!

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it! :D

Definitely one of my favorite games of this jam!

Not only are the graphics, sound effects, and music fantastic, but so is the idea of the game itself, the level design, and the polish! Aside from a few minor things (for example, aiming was confusing at times), this is a true masterpiece that I can definitely see myself playing as a complete release someday!

Very good work!

Developer

Thanks for playing and really glad you loved it! I really do think the idea of the game is great and I plan to come back to it later to  improve on things and make more for this game! (once I clear up some of my projects in my looooooong list of things xP)

Insane game!!!!!!!!!!!

the idea is absolutely amazing XD also crazy enough with all the bullets and explosions, however two things have striked me:

1- i like the idea of how you tried to make the menu, but i think this has been mentioned here already and i kinda agree that it takes a bit of time to choose between the options

2-i was absolutely destroyed when trying to control red and blue simultaneously XD definitely need to play this coop!!

but seriously consider polishing a bit after the jam, the idea is great, and it can be made into something really nice and solid, but i think you did a pretty good job already, well done !

please be sure to try out and rate our game too <3

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it! I do want to come back and upgrade my movement system (to be more stable) and I have an idea of how to do it, for which would probably make the game a tiny bit faster too. And yes, multitasking is not something everyone can manage, even I have trouble in some situations xD (even if it was designed to be beatable solo, nothing stops players from playing coop, input layout is already set up for two hands :D)

I really like the idea of this game (the music too xD) and will probably come back to it later down the line when I'll have cleared up some of my projects in my looooooooong list of things xP

Thanks for the feedback!

Nice, that was a really satisfying combination of a bullet hell and a platformer. I'm not sure if the "don't stop moving or you'll explode" mechanic works well when you need to hold down buttons, at least for one player on a controller. It is probably different when playing co-op. Even so, it was quite satisfying, the game feel was spot-on.

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it! That mechanic of needing to keep moving was kind of a last minute thought, even though it wasn't added late in the development. I wanted to add a "rush" factor to the game to make it feel more chaotic and I did want to add a level timer too (where if you take too much time overall, you die,) but ran out of time for that final feature. The game was designed to be completable by one player (even though level 10 might say otherwise) but could be ran in coop if the player really wanted. I do see the point with the buttons and I am taking notes for future games of mine, so thanks for the feedback!

I like the game. It can be very confusing, but overall is great! Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you liked my entry! And yep, even I get confused sometimes controlling with both hands separate units, but it's probably due to the fact that I am definitely not the best at multitasking xD

I thought I would only get to play this on the weekends, but somehow I managed to have access to my laptop today. Impressive game, everything is very well made, from the music to the gameplay to the visuals. I especially liked how the menu incorporated the gameplay itself. Two points though:

1. I felt the player movement in the menu was a bit slow, I feel like navigating through the options shouldn't take so much time.

2. The controls were a bit hard to get used to, there were times I pressed the buttons controlling the blue player when I meant to control the red player and vice versa, and I can't count how many times I pressed my Caps Lock key when I meant to shoot with my red player. I think that's just the nature of multitasking though, and I probably just need time. I however think you could have placed the shoot buttons somewhere better, right now I have to use my pinky to press the button to shoot, which isn't very intuitive. I think if my thumbs were used to press the button to shoot it would be a lot better.

(Also how do you pass Level 8? I got stuck at the consecutive lasers part.)

Overall very well-made game, thanks for playing my game on stream.

Thanks for playing! Really glad you liked it! I am currently rethinking my movement code and want to attempt an improvement after the jam. Should make the movement more consistent and less buggy and might make everything a tad faster.

Indeed, even I sometimes get confused on which one I am controlling, but it's probably a multitasking thing as you said (I am not the best at that xD).

Figuring out the best control scheme for keyboard was a really tough one tho. Since both hands need to control directional inputs and I don't want to use numpad (some people don't have one,) I stuck with the current control scheme. I did think about thumbs for shooting, but spacebar wouldn't work (both shoot separately) and alt keys are in weird spots (and some keyboards have different alt keys layouts.) Keys right above the spacebar are not comfortable to use either (at least for me). Still thinking about it tho. I feel happy to also have mapped controller inputs, which do feel more intuitive for people that have and want to use controller.

Level 8, the laser wave (as I call it) is timed so you have to hold right the whole way through it (laser activations are moving at the same speed as the players.) Just be sure to reach the end in time to save yourself from the laser wall activated by the bullet timer at the top of the screen.

Whew! Well that's a wall of text I just made, sorry about that xP
Glad you enjoyed my game and yours was fun too!

Amazingly polished game! I'm always amazed to see how much polish people manage to fit into their games in such a short amount of time! Loved the visual effects, music and sfx, and the gameplay was fun and challenging.

Probably only feedback is I didn't get as much of a chaos theme from this as some other submissions I've tried. Still doesn't take away from the game being awesome itself though!

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it! I do have some level and mechanic ideas to make it feel more chaotic, but I unfortunately ran out of time to make more chaotic levels (darn you level 10 taking all of my time xD)

And indeed, making a game, polished or prototype, in a single week is hard. Even I looked at some other entries and I was like "how did they made this so fast?" xD

I am very proud of how it turned out for the jam and I am so happy to hear such positive feedback! I will also give yours a shot once I am done with my backlog of games to play from that one topic I made.

Excellent graphics, good sound, and the screen shake is dat good shit.

For some reason the blue tank keeps going up and to the left. There's nothing wrong with my keyboard and I don't have any controllers plugged in. I even tried it in Edge and the bug is still present.

Unfortunately even with a second player this was a showstopper for me when it came the laser switch puzzle, we couldn't keep the blue tank on the button.

If you know how I can fix the issue I will give it another shot.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Hmm.... This is the first time I hear about this issue. I can't seem to replicate the issue on my end. My main PC, laptop, old desktop and caveman era PC all control correctly. HMMMMMMM......

If you can, try the game on another computer. Maybe there is some program or misc device interfering with either key bindings or xinputs. If you have any xinput mappers, try to close them.

Cool game! really appreciate that you can play this with a controller, that made the game easier haha. As feedback I can only say that using "Shift" for shooting is a bad decision, because you have to press that key a lot of times in a short period of time, causing the "Sticky keys" alert to appear constantly during gameplay. Other than that, good job on this one :), and thanks for playing my game too btw.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it! Yeah figuring out the best keyboard layout for this was a puzzle in itself. Trying to make both hands as similar as possible was a mess xD

I know not everyone turn off sticky keys, but it was my best option here. Ctrl might have been a tad too far for the pinkie finger. So happy I managed to bind controller inputs in time for the deadline :D

Your game was nice too!

Submitted

Not chaotic tbh and not that fun to play. good graphics tho

Developer

Oof, sorry to hear you didn't have fun with my entry X(

I do understand different reasons why this game might not be fun for everyone.

Feel free to share your thoughts about how I could make my entry and future ones better and also how I could add more chaos to it. Glad you liked the graphics at least :)

Nice game. Controlling the 2 of them is really hard and chaotic.

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it :D

Dang that was real polished! That transition effect is so satisfying! Great music and chaotic feel towards the end too!

Developer

Thanks for playing and happy to hear your feedback! Yes indeed that transition is super satisfying, even to me xD

Glad you enjoyed the soundtrack too! probably the single best banger I ever made :D

amazing graphic, but i felt like the moving system could be better

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it! I do intend to modify the movement code a little bit to make everything run smoother and more consistently, but for the jam version I felt it was good enough. Really happy you liked it nonetheless!

Pretty interesting mechanics

The timer on stage 6 was overly tight I think unless I misunderstood how it worked

Developer

Thanks for playing! On level 6, I made the corridor for the blue unit quite long so that you have to move back and forth constantly with the red one to actually survive. I thought it would be a way to understand better the move timer mechanic, perhaps a tutorial level would have been good (but I ran out of time for the jam, so I stuck with a wall of text in the "How to play" section of the main menu.)

Glad you liked the mechanics anyway! :D

Submitted

I thought you just immediately die once the red guy dies or moves off the switch though?

Submitted

Hi, I really like the game mechanics here controlling two separate robots and having to keep them both moving adds an interesting twist to the puzzles. Graphics and gameplay work well and I think it fits the theme nicely too.  I wasn't a massive fan of the music, a little too up-tempo for me, but I am getting old so maybe that's the problem ;) ... but overall really enjoyable to play - good job.

Developer

Thanks for playing my entry and glad you liked it! I do understand the music isn't for everyone and some people won't like it. It's up to personal preference I think :)

Glad you enjoyed it nonetheless! :D

Game ran poorly on my computer. Did you make it that way to run poorly or just because I have low pc specifications for such game?

If you want, you can play my game:

https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1174936

Developer

What are your PC specs? I did notice that my very old PC, having quite outdated hardware, ran poorly too. But its hardware is REALLY old. WebGL doesn't help with performance either. Tho so far I haven't seen anyone have performance issue, so PC specs is my theory. I would never design a game to run poorly on purpose.

I will for sure give your game a try too!

Loved the artstyle of the game. Will play again!

Would appreciate if you give mine a try: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1176432

Thanks for playing! Really glad you loved it and intend to return to it!

I will give yours a shot tomorrow or Wednesdays, stayed up all night replying to everyone here and rating all games I played on stream on Sunday Dx
