I like the game,

I think it needs some minor improvements but it's fun to play.

It definitely needs an in-game how-to-play or objective so players don't have to pause go read the description and come back.

maybe have it so that you can move and fire at the same time.  Also at the shop maybe add an indication to which attack you're currently selecting along with how much it costs. For the mini-game to use the attack it's nice but at first, I didn't know what it meant, it took me two tries to do it and figure out what I'm supposed to do.

The art is really cool and the idea has a potential,  good job!

Quite tricky but so dynamic and fun to play. The sprites are well done and the spell animations look really good. The QTEs to cast spells are a nice touch.

Thank you for trying out our game! We are glad that you had fun playing it and our artists will be glad to hear that their sprites are nicely done!

Awesome game! Loved the way you trigger the spells and actually have to do a mini game to have the spell pop off. Great visual design and I think it has a lot of potential.

This game was impressive given that it was all done in a week! I thought the gameplay was really fun & the vibrating icons at the top for when a castle is being attacked was super useful!

Developer

Hello! Thank you for trying out our game! We glad that you had fun playing it!

Fun little game! Really liked the graphics, especially if you made all of them. I agree with the other comments that a minimap would've been nice, but the shaking tower healths was a great way to get my attention and told me where to go once I knew where each tower was. Overall, great submission!

The game runs smoothly, but somehow I find that the +30 soul cannot be collected 😢

I take some time to figure out where are all the three towers and where I am located. (A mini map may help but may not suit retro style?) I have another suggestion for the boundary of the stage, you may bound the camera to the floor area. In Unity, if you use Cinemachine, you can use confiner to do so.

Developer

hi thanks for playing! the 30 souls are for to revive the castle! sorry for the lack of user guide :(

i am using cinemachine but forgot to add the boundary opps

Good game! Arrow key for special felt really unnecessary but overall solid game! Nearly made no upgrades run.

Developer

thanks for trying! it to make it feel like you are trying to cast the spell!

I got really addicted to this. I was spending so much money on healing towers that I didn’t really do any upgrades, but I managed to beat it (I think? The enemies stop and the game just ends at some point and you win right?). I should try another run with upgrades. This is a really fun game, I think it would play really well with a top down view on a 3d world, hopefully you keep building on this.

Awesome submission, thanks for sharing. My game is linked below this post if you want to check it out.

Developer

Thank you for trying out our game and it is really pleasing to hear that you were pleasantly addicted to this! Thank you for your kind feedback and our team would definitely take into account what you've said if we do expand on this!

skill acquisition and use are good. The game designs are also nice

Developer

Thank you for trying our game out! Our artists would be glad you liked the game designs!

The game is good. I quite like it but you could make a few minor changes to the core gameplay to make it appeal to a lot more people.

For example, the boundary for the stage/level: there were tiles extending beyond the stage which made me think I could go there but I couldn't. And also maybe add a few more sound effects.

One thing I really like about the shooting is it goes through the enemies and damages any enemy in its path. That is really nice.

Overall it's good for something made in a week. I liked it. Keep it up!!

I find pressing arrow keys everytime I want to do a special attack (and most of the time those attacks don't even deal damage at all) pretty unneccesary. Soul gathering is also very unresponsive, sometimes it takes some time till it registers I picked the soul from the floor. Also I can't tell which spell im buying when inside the shop. Otherwise the spell drag and drop mechanic and sprites are really interesting.

Honestly cant say that im a fan of the game as it currently is.
Spells needing you to do a sequence of inputs that are seemingly random just doesnt feel great, even if it pauses time while youre doing it. It just breaks the otherwise fairly fluent gameplay.
The one big thing to be improved is adding some form of communicating the layout of the level, so you know where the towers you have to defend are, before you have to actually defend them.
(Also ideally the shop should tell you how much an upgrade is, or what it does exactly)

The art assets in general are pretty cool tho!

Art and animations are very well made. However I find it a bit repetitive to have to defend the castles for 5 minutes.

Developer

Thank you for trying our game! We tried to avoid making it very repetitive by having different types of enemies so we are sorry if you still felt that it was repetitive! We will do our best to make such games less repetitive in future!

The animations and art are very well made! I was a bit confused on what exactly to do at first, but i figured it out. Gameplays solid, but a bit stale. Cool game!

Developer

Thank you for trying out our game! We think we could've done better to explain to our players the general flow and the controls of the game a bit better. We are sorry you felt the game was a bit stale as we tried our best to avoid it by having different types of enemies. We will do our best to avoid this scenario in future!

Nice game idea. The companion is really nice way of implementing the theme. Also I like the graphics very much. The characters and env-art is really good. But compared to that the floor is boring.

I like the system how you've implemented the skills. Turning it into a minigame while slowing down the enemies is really a nice mechanic and allows playing around with different tactics. One thing which you could improve here would be to have a auto-fire on basic-attack while the mouse button is pressed.

Overall the game could explain more the player. So it took some time to figure out that my companion is also the shop. Then in the shop it would be good to see which spell is selected + the costs. I first wanted to have some description of the spells but I also enjoyed finding out what certain spells will do. So I think it is ok to let the player explore the spells instead of presenting everything.

The game kept me in for some rounds. So good work :-)

Cool Game idea adn gameplay so far. For some reason the F-Key does nothing. Keep going!
