How does your game fit the theme?
Reaching the portal at the end of the level will result in the level rotating, finding you needing to complete it again. Thus beginning anew after the end.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All of the code is my own, most of the assets are free (credited) or owned (credited)

Love the thumbnail! It was fun to play, the art style reminds me of my childhood games. Give my game a try!

Developer

thanks for playing and for the feedback!   I'll be sure to play yours tomorrow when get back into it.

Thx bro!

REALLY good take on the theme, easy five stars for Innovation from me :) Level design is great, too, since it takes advantage of the fact that the level rotates when you reach the end. The sprites look nice, too. Although, I think this game could use some more juice, like maybe some particles when you jump/land. Besides that, this game is really fun and really innovative, great job!

Developer

thank you for playing and for the feedback.   I actually had that on my list to add and completely forgot.  This the nature of a game jam.   Thanks again for all the feedback.

Nice gameplay, it was fun to play platformer game like this! You did a great job of putting everything together here.

Cool game. I like how you interpreted the theme. The graphics are cool and the audio sounds good. The controls feel snappy and responsive as well. The level design isn't bad, but it is kinda disappointing that only two levels actually gets replayed upside down. The rest mostly just have two divided segments. I think it would be super cool if all the enemies and spikes stayed around so that the level is the same, just upside down. Also, some of the platforming can feel a bit too precise and having to wait for the saws to go away can be frustrating. But it's also possible I'm just bad at the game :P

Overall, I think this entry is pretty fun and with a few adjustments has a lot of potential.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and the detailed feedback!   The original intent was to play the levels in reverse, upside down.  This is only the second jam I have joined and I bit off more than I could chew in  game design and hit a few bumps so the level design was a tad rushed.  This kind of feedback is much appreciated so I can learn for future jams!

Submitted(+1)

That was pretty good for only your second jam!

Developer(+1)

Thanks!  I am trying to learn this whole game dev thing lol

This is a clever take on the theme and some very clever level design! I think simpler lower resolution sprites might look better. Something like Celeste, older mario games, or other pixel platformers. Especially since the main character and enemies are very small on the screen. Great job overall!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and thanks for the feedback!  I am definitely still learning so this type of feedback is invaluable!

Very polished appearance.  It was nice that you had very fast unlimited respawns with enemies not respawning.  A game of careful execution...even if it takes a lot of tries to make it all the way.  Even though it's easy to die and fast to get back in action, it would have been nice if the crumbling blocks respawned after awhile.  There were a number of times I touched the side of them and triggered their crumble...then I was stranded without a block to go to anymore.

Great submission and good use of the theme.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback.  Not going to lie the crumbling blocks were supposed to be a quick additional mechanic that ended up taking 5 hours because of the way the game flips, so just getting them to respawn when you die was a chore.   I do agree they should lol.   Also I think there was a bug with the triggers on them because they shouldn't have activated unless you were on top of them.  Sorry you experience that but I appreciate you taking the time to play it!!

Nice game, I like the art and the environment :)

Developer

Thank you for playing!  I appreciate the feedback!

I like the idea of playing the same level again, but most of the time it could just be a flat out new level... maybe you could find a way to have the different runs influence each other more?

Developer

Thank you for playing!  I like that suggestion!  I will keep it on the list for possible future updates.

Love the take on the theme! Nicely polished. A encountered a few bugs but nothing game breaking.

Developer

Thank you for playing!  I appreciate the feedback.  If you don't mind when you have a moment if you could let me know what bugs you encountered so I can add them to my bug report?  Thanks!!

Great game. I like the flipping the whole level and reusing it. I wish the controller sensitivity was lowered some. I didn't feel like I had great control. Aside from that, awesome game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!  I agree it is a little twitchy, needed a few more minutes in the over of playtesting.  Thanks for the feedback!

Nice concept! We had a similar idea during our brainstorm, but finally decided to not go that way, so I'm happy to see the "rotating level" concept done by somebody else =D!

The graphics are nice, and the musics are bangers <3. Excellent choice!

The gameplay is really fun, but the controls are a bit tedious : the acceleration of your character, either vertical or horizontal, is waaaaay too much. And despite have 3 hearts, you generally get one-shot, either by touching a spike, or touching an enemy, which makes you bounce in said spike xD.

The level design is nice, but it feels a bit disappointing that the two versions of the levels ("normal" and "rotated") are, in fact, two separate parts that have nearly no common parts. I really enjoyed the first level because you go through the same path, too bad the other levels doesn't do the same... But I guess it's a bit too much to ask for a 7-days game jam ^^.

Overall, this is a nice entry that just needs a little bit of tweaking and refinment. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!  Dying is supposed to happen a lot tbh lol.    I should have probably tweaked the iFrames a bit so you don't die as often but it was an artificial way to increase level length.  Unfortunately the controls were designed with a controller forward mindset and in hindsight was probably not the way to go.  My initial thought was just mirroring the level would be too boring after the flip so I leaded toward a difficulty increase.

This was a cool idea, I really like the visuals, the sound design is good, and the movement is snappy. My only issue is with the level design, mainly how much of the game is a "hurry-up-and-wait" situation, where you have to wait 6 seconds to take 2 steps, then wait another 6 seconds, just to be presented with a hard jump that will very likely kill you instantly. It becomes a bit tedious. I appreciate hard, even some borderline unfair levels, but just so you know for the future, typically its a good idea to let the player be moving the whole time in levels like that.

Developer

Thank you for playing!  I do agree that some of the timings were off, and I appreciate the feedback!  I wasted too much of the time I had trying to implement new mechanics that I ultimately scrapped and should have spent a little more time on level tweaking.

Submitted(+1)

It looks like and it sounds like one of those good old flash games, maybe a little too hard and the controls can be clunky

Developer

Thanks for playing!  Sorry about the controls, I need to do better at designing games for Mouse/Keyboard.  I am #controllergang lol.  Appreciate the feedback.

Like the music and all effects, you have in this game. Great job.

Very clean and polished puzzle platformer. Excellent use of the theme.

Thank you!

I really like the visual polish in this game, the transition at the end of the level is very cool. Encountered a bug that spawned what I can only assume to be in excess of 100 copies of myself.

Developer

I am sorry you experienced this bug!  I appreciate your feedback!
