How does your game fit the theme?
When you faint, the dungeon possess the character. The next character that goes in will have to deal with that. An end is a new beginning, as a puppet of the dungeon
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All code from scratch, assets are partially self-made and others are free to use from others.

Incredible game, i liked everything !
It's difficult even in easy, and even if i got rekt by my own wizard, it was pretty cool haha !
The only thing that could be changed is the number of mana? (the purple bar), it's going down really fast.
Really great submission overall!
Also, could you rate my game ?
Took me a while before I actually decided to play this one. Really good game, well done.
Pretty difficult game, but a lot of fun and pretty fleshed out for a jam game. The concept is really unique and I think it has a ton of potential. Good job.
I would love to see the idea made into a full game. That said one thing for me is that I think the death mechanic needs to be a little less frustrating. Not that it can’t be difficult, but the sanity meter would drain pretty fast and it really feels like by the end you are fighting against your character’s life battery and not like overcoming the dungeon.
Downloadable game that runs in a window by default! Yes! I have a ridiculous ultrawide monitor for productivity and this is super nice for me!
Great pixel art! Felt cohesive!
The music was great, but I felt it didn't exactly fit the theme of the game. Still bangin' though!
Movement and shooting felt good - but there is little to no visual feedback when hitting enemies or being hit. This would feel even better with just a bit more juice (but of course that takes time and it's a game jam after all).
The mechanics are very interesting. For a short game jam game, I think it works well. If it was a larger game, I think there would need to be some way to refill sanity - or stick with simply fighting your old self upon regular player death. Skipping through the empty rooms was kind of neat at first (seeing all the aftermath), but a bit tedious once you got to rooms 5 - 7 and you had to skip more and more rooms.
Overall, very well developed game, a lot of polish, and lots of potential for future iterations! Great work!
This game has more strategy to it than might seem at first glance! I failed a few times by not being able to defeat the final level because of my dead-self being too powerful. Quite the twist that the main bosses are created by the player's own failure.
There are many factors and details to think about in order to optimize time. It can for example be a good idea not to pick up power-ups before running out of sanity, to minimize the strength of the dead guy and being able to pick them up before battling him. Original and fun concept and mechanics.
I accidentaly clicked "Leave dungeon" multiple times. When dying so suddenly and often, it's easy to click any of the options while frantically clicking all over the place (a confirmation would be great, or having the leave-button somewhere in a top corner).
It was also a bit annoying to click through all the rooms after every death. But I suppose this was meant to imitate that a new wizard is entering to see what happened, logically starting from the beginning.
Art, sound and music was satisfying. Good work :D
Was very fun, definitely one of the best ones from this jam, that i've played so far. And music is just soooo good!
Thanks for the praise, glad that you enjoyed playing it :D
Great game. the art and music are realy good and especialy the machanic of fighting your previous self als a miniboss is realy cool. I did how ever did not realy understand the sanity meter, since I would die atleast once every room because I took to long. But it was still a very fun game to play.
Amazing game. keep it up♥
Thanks for the kind words :DGlad that you had fun!
really fun game! love the mechanic of having to fight your previous self after you've died. the only thing i wish i could have was a health bar for the normal enemies aswell
That was a cool game concept! You always see games of dungeons where you eventually die, but never ones where you face off against your deaths. Gotta say, fighting against your previous op self got hard and challenging, I liked it! Nice job!
Hey, great game! The gameplay is engaging and has a bit of the strategy in it. I love how the last character becomes mini boss for the next run. Also, music and art are also nice!
Very noice game and great use of the theme, Great job
Very fun little game!! Fun use of the theme.
The sanity bar had me wondering how I died many times, especially when I had full health still. The enemies should have a damage indicator when hit as well. Overall fantastic game!
You hit the theme pretty well with this one. Super fun to get stronger and stronger but at the same time know - this is my enemie soon. That also made it a little punishing, you want to become stronger but at the same time you don't want to become too strong so you can't defeat your old self.
it would have helped to know what each potion does. I just collected them randomly but i guess each color does something specific. also maybe it would be cool to see my current "stats" like attack speed and number of projectiles i fire.
Overall i had a lot of fun with this one!
Thanks a lot for the feedback :D
As for the potion effects, there were on my description page. I guess I should update the list as a picture to make it easier for others. I planned on making UI to help with identifying each upgrade, but I ran out of time :(
.
It was such a pleasure playing this game. It's so fun to run like a crazy kid and kill these monsters with one shot at the end of the levels . The game makes a lot of movement on the map and it's cool. The soundtrack is just amazing. I would like some variety in the maps, more colors. Great game))
Wow what a fun game. I wish I could see the stats, and when the enemies or the player got hit the screen would shake a lit for some more feedback. But I had a great time playing. It felt like I was playing a realm of the mad god dungeon.
Cool game! I liked the part where some strategy pieces come up and you need to plan what kind of resources you’d gonna take (or some monster wizard will appear). The sanity bar is quite a clever design that builds up the main mechanics very well. Also the music. Although it comes from Dova-syndrome, it’s so good (also a bit Touhou vibe).
This is crazy +w+
aye thanks for the feedback and for trying out my game :D
The whole sanity bar was a bit confusing on how to prevent that from going empty or maybe that was a timer you get as far as you can get.
Im a sucker for good pixelart :D
That sanity was indeed a timer! I will try to make it more clear that it ticks down whenever you are battling next time.
I felt motivated to beat my former self at all costs lol. Great job.
Seeing another game with the same art is pretty cool, though I think it's funny we went with the same bullet-hell genre lol.
The game is really nice, but the sanity is a bit unforgiving. It kind of just exists as an annoyance. I'll start a room with less than half sanity and then I feel that I just need to just kind of wait until it's run out so I can restart with full sanity and actually clear it, if that makes sense. I think the game would have been better off without it, but I'm not saying that it ruins the game or anything.
The game mechanics also weren't super clear. I know it says in the description on the game page, but I just downloaded it from the submission page so I never actually saw it. That's technically my fault but I think it would've been good to include it in the game itself somehow. I also don't know what all the potions do, I assume heal but I usually just grabbed them at full health.
It was a really nice game though, and felt very polished.
Hehe thanks for playing! The sanity bar is there to make it so that you will die at least once or twice per run. If not, the core mechanic of the game will be avoided completely by skillful players (the possessed previously fainted character).
And yes, adding UI to help indicate current stats and upgrades were literally my next dot in my task list, however I ran out of time :(
