very cool game, challenging and fun. I really like the retro look. I think the bullets of the enemies could be a little bigger, the missiles are quite OPs, haha, maybe an alert on the screen warning that they are on their way balance things out, overall, it's a great game, congratulations.
I like the game and enjoyed it!
I wish it has a better control for the spaceship though, It kinda hard to control where to go without being able to see the barrier... also the music overlaps when you die in the boss stage... overall, good game, i liked it!

This game is just straight up fantastic. The sound design and visuals are just incredible, and the gameplay is no slouch either. It's tough as nails, but it feels mostly fair - though I feel like the play area should be more visible and the times it moves should be marked on the progress bar.
It's not the most original idea out there, but the sheer execution alone carries this game. I think the moment I noticed the music changed when you paused was when I realized I might actually have found my favourite game in the jam.

I've been struggling with audio for a while, and in this project I saw the opportunity to really gain some XP... I created from scratch every sound, music and sprites during the jam. \o/
I have to say that the gameplay kind of fell short, due the lack of time, but I am already addressing this on the current build. Added 4 weapons to change with a dropped item, a new enemy and some QoL too.
I totally agree with your feedback... I left the circular prison too subtle, with just a simple color variation... I could see it so clear that I didn't even think that some people would have difficulty seeing it... And this totally undermines the game experience... The difficulty spikes a lot when you can't use the circular borders to help you dodge the bullets.
The minimap marking the changes was something I haven't thought... It seems like an interesting idea.

Nice entry with good impact feedback
I like the overall idea of the surviving waves of enemies challenge, and the progress bar below showing how close you're getting to the boss is a nice idea.
Now i get that since it's the theme the movement is confined in a way, but i didn't fully understand how it worked, as i had to tap the direction keys rather than hold them to move ? That felt a bit confusing.
But that's about the only negative thing i have to say really, the rest is really cool, the sprites have their charm especially the little star shaped player starship, the music fits the atmosphere well, and the menu Ui is clear and has some nice sound effects.

To clarify your confusion about the movement... The Star was entrapped by the ships civilization and with that, the player is confined to a small circular area that is moved from time to time... And the boss keeps moving the confinement around rapidly.
Unfortunately my mask effect that represents that circular area was really subtle... That is why you couldn't realize it was there... I'll be updating the effect as soon as the game jam finishes.
Oh i get it ! That explains also the sudden warps from one end of the screen to the other XD well given the context it makes sense.

The game is quite tough. Being confined to a small space to dodge makes the game quite challenging, and can be frustrating when you don't realize your at the edge of the circle. The gameplay and technique is fun, though. Sudden movement to the limited space is also very frustrating. There are an ample amount of enemies and enemy types that bring a lot of variety to the game, though. The visuals are also made really well, emulating a kind of old-style game look. Great work!
This game was super well made and felt very polished.
The visuals are super cute and the great sound sound design made added a lot to the level of polished. The only nitpick I really have is that the enemy bullets are kinda small so it was a bit hard for me to see where they were when there were a lot of them. Thats the only thing I have a problem with tho.

Took a minute to understand that the player is confined to a circular area, maybe you could add some visual clue? Second, personally I was a bit confused by the debris flying into the player (collecting). It looks really nice but I always kind of thought they are bullets which I need to avoid.
Having said that, very very fun to play, well done!
Thanks for the feedback! The confinement was tough to make... I was planning on make a frame with chains or something, but nothing really stand out in my mind and I just decided to leave with a really subtle color mask...
The debris are a tough situation in deed... They are a little confusing, but so much fun... u.u
