Please share with us the connection your game has with the theme "Tough Choice"?
Each turn in PEMDAS has you making "tough choices" about when to attack and when to defend.

Did you use any third party assets like art or music? If so, which ones?
I used graphics and sound from Kenney.nl

Superb gameplay! With a few tweaks and improvements to the UI, more content and juicy polishing, you could look into making it into a commercial title. I felt that limiting the slots in the first waves would help prevent people that are highly allergic to math from just giving up, as it can get a bit intimidating. Awesome work!

Developer

Thank you so much for the encouragement.  I'm super-excited to get back to work on it and implement everybody's awesome suggestions!

Took me time to figure out mechanics. I think first levels could me tuned by hand and with less dices so tutorial would be easier and controllable. well done!

Developer

Thanks so much, I agree.  I kind of hate my "Operations Manual",  I want to create an interactive tutorial that introduces players to the game.  Thanks though for sticking with it, figuring it out, and giving it a chance.

Fits the theme perfectly and gameplay is, from my perspective innovative and interesting. Visuals were ok and game would have benefited from at least one bg music.  I love the games that makes you use brain. Well done.

Developer

Thanks a lot!  I agree completely about the visuals and music.  I was so focused on making the mechanics work, I ended up ignoring other things.  Luckily, I'm looking forward to tackling all that post jam.

Nice game idea, need to add music and it would be a great commercial educational game to propose to schools and educational game portals!

Well executed and good match with the game theme!

Thanks so much!  I agree on all accounts.

Once completed, if you publish it, let me know where. I will suggest it to kids and parents for learning maths :-)

Developer(+1)

That would be amazing!  Thank you so much.

Took me a while to understand what i had to do but it was totally my fault lol

The mechanic is so simple to understand yet so fun to play, could be expanded in so many ways and, as you said on the "settings" menù, a nice reskin with some polished animations would make this even better!

I loved how the player has to choose either to attack or defend most of the time, making some really interesting situations!

Developer

Definitely not your fault.  I meant to get an interactive tutorial in there, but just ran out of time.  Thanks for figuring it out anyway.

Nice little game. The images look great. It took me a minute to figure out what to do, but when it clicked it was awesome.

Well done!

Developer

Thanks so much!  I'm really glad you dug it.  It's not your fault it was confusing at first though, I really need to get an interactive tutorial level in there (I just ran out of time).  Thanks for sticking with it.

Thanks!  I do too. :)

Nice mechanics, and I love the space theme! I appreciate how you have to decide which numbers to use and where. Also, it’s cool that our settings screens are similar :).

Developer

Thanks!  I'm glad you enjoyed it.  "Settings" can mean so many things. :)

I've completed your game! It's a fun challenge that's also fair. I love seeing the different alien portraits in each wave and I think there was 2 times when I managed to deal out 2 damage which was cool. I also like the special options afterwards. If you were to continue on your project, I think adding animation and background music could improve your game

Developer

CONGRATULATIONS!

That's so cool that you played it all the way through.

I don't know if you looked at our setting page (it has no settings at the moment), instead I listed all the things I want to add to the game and animation and music are at the top of the list.

So, thanks for the great feedback, I will definitely get to work on an update after the Jam is over!

I like the idea of using PEMDAS as a gameplay mechanic. I feel like it could be integrated better into the narrative, i.e. you have to charge the cannon and need to hit the exact energy value.

Developer

Thanks for the suggestions, I agree.  I think with some more story and animation (that all connect together) it would definitely enhance the overall game.
