This was a really unique and cute concept. I really struggle to understand what the instructions were telling me to do and when I fianlly understood what I was suppose to do I seem to struggle getting the mechincs to work. Other then the rotate and look around controls which worked fantasticslly. I did however really love the art it was very well done.
Too bad it didn't work well for you. I'm aware of a few rough patches (mainly vines and the birches imo) Thanks for giving it a try.
Truly creative idea for a game, and i suppose a bit tricky mechanic manipulations were needed to implement it. Although, the sound and music not so perfect and fitting (imho, not gonna tell for everybody), but all in all great job!
Thanks for playing!
I played all the levels, nice cozy game I liked it a lot. Controls are very intuitive and easy, and I did not notice any major bugs.
Glad you liked it!
Took me a while to get it but I love the concept! Super creative implementation! The scenery is beautiful and the puzzle is very satisfying to solve! This game was stunning and was both innovative and well executed! I think the only change I might suggest would be to add a hidden image or animation reveal when the level is completed so there’s more of a pay off to make the game even more satisfying. Overall a lovely concept! Incredible work!
Those are some great suggestions. If I continue working on this, they're on my list. Thanks for the kind words.
Nice game concept. It is very pleasant to paint over the leaves :>
Thanks!
I really love idea, and how it look. U should develop this further <3
Yay! Thanks for playing.
Love this original concept and the gameplay was fun ;)
Would enjoy some more levels !
Love to read that! Thank you.
Really enjoyed the game! The leaf painting mechanic is very entertaining, perfectly nailed the balance between the simplicity, coziness, and trickiness of some parts of the puzzle. Also fun to see the reverse idea of our own game, but instead of transitioning to summer, it's the opposite, lol
I noticed that it's the reverse of yours too, but I failed to mention it. I liked to see how you implemented painting.
Thanks for playing and for the nice words. So glad you enjoyed it!
This is really a cool game and gameplay solution. At first, I couldn't figure out what to do for a minute, but once I understood, I had a lot of fun coloring all the trees.
Thanks for giving it that minute, since it definitely needs a better tutorial. Glad you had fun!
Amazing game with really unique gameplay! The art, sound and music were also great, good job! Only feedback I have is that I (slightly red/green colorblind) had some difficulty differentiating between the orange and the lighter green leaves.
Ah. that's a great tip about the colours. Aside from improving the colours, maybe a different texture for summer vs fall leaves would improve that?
Thanks for playing! I'm so glad you liked it.
Loved the game. Such a different concept, never played a game like that. Loved seeing these beautiful fall gardens. Amazing Job. One of the best games I played here!
Aww, thanks!
Ohh, a very interesting concept for sure! It took me a second to understand how it worked exactly, but when I got it it worked quite well. With a few exceptions, where it wouldn't always transfer nicely onto other stuff that was. Sometimes it was a little difficult to get small stuff in the background, as foreground stuff would easily cover it entirely, and that was the main difficulty I had with the game. In lvl 2 there were some small vines in the background, for example, and they were pretty hard to actually color in. But I like the idea a lot and the worlds seem nicely designed too! Very cozy fall vibes too :) Thanks for participating in the jam and congrats on making a game!
Appreciate the feedback. Thanks for playing!
One of my favorite games I´ve played so far in this jam! Love the simplicity of it, the perspective mechanics feel smart and the level design is diverse. The soundtrack sets the mood perfectly and reminded me of Untitled Goose Game ost, wich is great.
How hard it was to implement the swipe mechanic? how did you do it?
That's so nice to read! Glad you liked it!
There are a few steps to the tracking. It was a little trickier than I expected it to be, but if I were to clean it up, it's probably not so bad now that I know how. There are two main parts: The in-progress foliage swipe and setting the foliage cursors (the starting fall colour vs the in-progress summer colour).
To set cursors:
The in-progress foliage swipe:
Thanks for taking your time to explain!
cool. love to see a 3D game here
Thanks for playing! Also thanks for commenting on the game page with your issues. Now I think it'll help non-cozy-jammers figure it out.
I had to check the screenshots to understand, but the idea is not bad at all!
However I think that some little things could improve the overall vibe of the game:
- A skybox with a nice sunset and some rays of light and then you nail the automn vibe! Your visuals are nice but it lacked a bit of something =p
- Maybe put a bit of a wide reverb on this piano to make it sound less dry haha. Not to hard to do but improves the feeling a lot ;)
Thanks for the great feedback! Solid quick tips.
Took a while to understand but then it was brilliant! Great job!
Thanks!
I dont know how play in this game ( But visual cute
Thanks for giving it a try. I attached a screenshot that hopefully does a better job of explaining the gameplay if you wanted to try another. Either way, appreciate the feedback.
Awesome art direction, awesome idea !
Difficult at first to understand how to play but very clever entry. Congrats, what a perfect fit in the theme !
Yeah, it clearly needs a better guide. Thanks!
This is awesome. I assume the inspiration comes from The Witness, which is a favorite of mine, really cool that you were able to build this behavior out. I’m curious how you did it? I’m thinking it must be a Raycast from the camera through the cursor each tick, and if that raycast ever hits something not tagged as Foliage it loses the magic? I’m not sure how you did the part that partially recolors the models though, that was cool. Overall lots of really good bits of polish and animation that bring this all together, really nice chill puzzle game, great job.
Yes you assumed right! I initially wanted the overlaps to connect more like the Witness, but that ended quickly. Absolutely loved that game. Love to meet a fellow fan :)
The behaviour uses raycasts. I track where the click started. look for overlaps (using RaycastAll) to transfer the focus. There's also a hidden flat collider that centers on the cursor and looks at the camera, just in case the player's mouse is still clicked and moves off foliage. It's to help avoid having to reselect. The colours/recolours were a custom shader that used the mouse tracking as parameters (point on start side of foliage, mouse position, opposite side of foliage). It moves in reverse if the transfer doesn't complete.
Thanks for playing. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Cool bro but I think got some bugs!
Hey, thanks for trying it out. The controls are kind of wonky at times. The idea is that you line up the orange tree next to a green tree (by moving around), then you can click the orange tree and drag its orangeness to the green tree.
