Excellent old-school pixel art and solidly fish-like movement. It can be quite challenging, though. The fact that you cannot actually defeat enemies makes it lack a feeling of progression, so there is not much motivation to keep going. But overall, great work!
cute and pretty fun. the pixel art FOV is nice :)
How to beat the final boss coulda been a bit clearer :P
all around, i had a nice time :)
Hey I Saw Your Progress On The The Log Page And Im Glad Everything Worked Out, Game Was Pretty Neat, And Challenging
Cute pixel art and fun, challenging gameplay. I also like the music and sound effects. Good game!
Neat game! I think that the enemies could use a bit longer flee duration when they get hit, as they didn't give me much of an opportunity to get away when I hit them.
Fun game. Tried to save everyone, but it provided to be quite a challenge. At the end, settled to just beating the boss. I noticed that if you died while stalactite was just falling, it's position was saved for the next round. Overall optional challenging goal and option to just go to the boss was nice. Great job!
this game is made in picocad that makes it 1.4x cooler. and it was pretty cool to begin with. cool. fish
A nice and well made game! I like the art, and the music fits well too! I also like how your character has like a vision circle(?). I thought that was cool and made the enemies more terrifying. 🦈😩
I personally would have liked to use WASD for movement but that's totally a preference thing and not a big deal. I also feel like the coral could have change colour or disappeared or something after healing from it? I kept mistakenly coming back to ones I'd already used and then realising I couldn't heal again rip. 🪸
Overall though nice work! :D (I enjoyed checking out your devlog too btw!)
Thanks for your comment and kind worlds.
Good point about WASD, I'll have to see if I can configure it in Pico-8. As for the corals, it's true that I'm only removing the "health" animation, but it would have been easy to change the colour too, good point!
I'm glad you checked out the devlog, I spend some time every day writing a few words. It's also nice to look back on your first day and see how your game has developed.
The visual style is great! I also like that you provided a video with the full game, cause I died it before reaching the final boss and it was nice to be able to see it. Good job on the game! :)
The map and graphics awesome + a very creative idea. I love the way pico8 looks and sounds, it's a little unforgiving when a shark attacks you though, you need to react very quick. Really nice game though
Good work. I liked that there were two ways to play, rush or completionist. I wish the end screen showed your time. Was pretty fun to avoid enemies. I think the floors should have a palette swap on the environment, that would keep it more fresh I think.
Thank you for your comments and suggestions. You are right about the time, I did not spend much time on the start and end screens, they are definitely quite rough. Regarding the palette swap, that's a good idea, I was originally going to change the background colour from light blue to dark blue (to represent that you're going deeper and deeper), but ended up not doing it.
