Cute character design! I wonder what a finished version of the game would look like, it has the potential to create some very interesting mechanics. Promising project!
It was real fun to play as a jelly cat. I loved it, but the controls get a bit crazy sometimes. I found a missing collision on the window, but overall, pretty good game. Hope you polish it and update it because I really enjoyed it :)
Jelly Cat, Jelly Cat... what are they feeding you?
Goldfish crackers, apparently.
As others have said, the controls definitely need a makeover to match the camera. But still a cute kitty and a cute little game! Thanks for making me smile!
The cat is so cuuute ! I liked the mudic too, it gives a really cute and cozy atmosphere :D
I just few things to say :
- use camera-relative movement instead of absolute movement, for example, when the camera turns, if you press forward you still go in the global z axis direction (i suppose it's the z axis)
- use mesh colliders instead of box colliders (or use a combinaison of box colliders), for example i could go through the tap and fly over the sink. I assume you didn't put a mesh collider because the shape is concave then use multiple box colliders on the same object to approximate the shape
- just introduce the game mechanic, i had a hard time figuring out how to climb to green walls
Actually this is a good entry, keep up the good work ! :)
The cat's really cute, it has some mascot vibes hehehe 😍.
The game's quite straight forward, but the controls are a a little rough, and sometimes anti-intuitive. For example, when the camera rotates around the corner of the table, the controls don't update at the same time so you go to the left by pressing W. I would advise to make the controls relative to the camera's rotation so they feel more intuitive.
The platforming sections feel a little rough too, some jumps are really hard to pull off, and sometimes jumping after being in a sticky wall sends you flying in an unknown direction. I would also recommend to add a little shadow below the character like Mario 64 does so the jumps can be more precise, I missed some jumps because of this.
Also, you can jump out of the window that's located at the end of the map, you seem to be missing a collision there!
Other than that, this is a good student project. Keep working and learning guys and you will have a bright future, I'm sure! 😁
I was frustrated with the controls and can't really get with the jumping, thus I didn't get to the finish and maybe just halfway through, unfortunately. Sorry for nitpicking the controls, but still, you really did the good job with the jelly cat and the music used in the game, nice entry!
Super cute on the modelling front. Love your character a lot. I would recommend looking into making the controls consistent based on camera angle rather than world space, as using a to go down isnt always the most intuitive. Signaling that the climbable object is important with more than just color (maybe have it covered in a sticky material or signal with words) would also help with more intuitiveness I think. Really cool once i figured out the mechanics, and I really love the model for your character a lot! Nice job!
Hey! i liked the premise a lot, but the controls were very very hard to understand so I couldn't really play :/ They seem to sometimes be absolute (meaning that, relative to camera, they hard not correctly aligned) but also sometimes contextual? Like when sticking to walls, they seemed to reorient to a vertical axis. I think it's very fixable so please continue working on it! Cheers
Jelly cat is cute. The "jelly" has a really cool hand-drawn look to it. You should keep going with this!
That was cute soft body character and cute song! Concept had potential to be a good platformer game!
If I speak for this version, actually I couldn't control the character.
I passed through and fell to the infinity at window next to the sink, also character movements doesn't rotate with camera so it is too hard to control when it rotates.
Kawaii desu! Very cute jelly cat, enjoyed the main menu screen animation and the jelly cat modeling is really nice! I think someone else touched on the movement being I guess inverted as soon as you turn on the counter, but I worked out the jumping up the platforms. Nice work!
Very cute game! Idk if it's just me though but I absolutely could not find the cat door in the first level 😥. Is it up the green pole? I wasn't sure if that was the right path since I'm not sure if it's intended that jelly cat can climb on green walls. (Windows version if it matters)
I'll also agree about the camera and movement comment, it was a bit confusing to control when the camera started rotating haha.
Loved the music!
Nice game! I had trouble controlling jelly cat, it looks like the movement is locked to the world forward vector, which can get confusing when the camera rotates. Jelly cat is a great character :) Nice work!
