Really fun and I loved that it wasn't too punishing - if you get cliche'd you just go again. Got a little laggy on the last round but it doesn't matter because I ascended to meme-lord. Had a great time playing - wonderful entry!

thanks a lot!! :D

No idea what’s going on, but I love it. Would probably spend hours on the phone just watching the tree graph being generated. Managed to get 2865 on day 14, game almost died tough xD

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Yeah I also have in mind a mobile version would be dope :D Thanks for the honest feedback! News about the game coming soon

Excellent innovation and theme interpretation. Hooked me right away and got me to keep playing. Audio started getting a little wacky at the higher share levels.

Developer

Thanks a lot!

I liked the overall game and the concept. I felt like I was breaking the internet at the end and then I realized it was a bug.

Developer

maybe i should call it a feature 👀 thanks for the feedback!

This is actually quite clever :). It did compel me to finish the game, good stuff.

The only thing I could nit pick on is the fact that it took me a while to understand what's happening during the branching phase. A tiny legend explaining the colors would help I think. Otherwise some less sharp people like myself might spend several turns before understanding what's going on and why.

Developer

Hey! thanks a lot for your feedback!

That's indeed something I wanted to address but didn't have time ^^' I'll look into it in the future! :)

You know, i'm something of a memer myself
Haha, i liked this game a lot, it's very fun and has a good concept
It almost crashed a lot of times, but the experience was great, congratulations!

Developer

thanks a lot! yeah performance issues are known :/

Really fun simulation. I think the voice acting really added another layer of humor to the game and I liked messing around with the stats. Great game!

Developer

thanks a lot!

I see you're a man of culture as well! 5/5 Theme interpretation

Thanks a lot dear shitpost specialist! :D

Awesome introduction! Made me laugh a lot and made me really really really curious!

I liked the memes and how the "tree" grows larger and larger.

Interesting concept and the game makes you keep playing to get more and more points.  The only problem is that the audio breaks as you said in the description.

Overall it was a nice experience and a funny game! The memes are good too ahaha

Good job!

Developer

thanks a lot!! I am happy the intro did it's job ^^'

Fun unique strategy game! Its really satisfying to see the shares branch out into a big web of people. My final post got about ~2500 shares and after about 800 the audio did get quite messed up, loud and crackly. Other than that though I had a good time playing. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot!! It is especially meaningful to me as I have been impressed by your own strategy game :3

Yeah performance issues causes audio to explode, I am aware of it and hopefully will find a fix ^^'

The concept and the progression are really interesting, and the graphics and sound are on par. I had a bit of trouble understanding that you must drag & drop fans to unlock the points, once you go past this point, everything goes smoothly. That is until the point you achieve 2000 and sound starts crumbling, haha, it scared me! Nice entry, kudos!

Developer

thanks a lot!! I loved your game too!

Yeah I had a few UX issues with teaching the drag and drop, but didn't have much time so I just locked the player on the screen until the first fan is dropped on something x) it seems to have worked lol

Great game! The extra followers you got for upgrades each round and the increasing numbers are like a perfect formula for making an addictive game. As well as that I really like how you interpreted the cliché theme in a different way to nearly everyone else.

Developer

thank you!!

I liked a lot playing this game!! And the discord link at the end was a nice touch! It made the game felt real! The sound effects when sharing your meme are very cool, but get glitched a lot when you get 2000 repost at the end haahaha! Good job!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thank you!! Yeah audio issue is annoying ^^' i will update it after the voting :)

Really fun concept and watching the meme web unfold if very satisfying. Well done!

Developer

thank you!!

Overall really solid game: Clever interpretation of the theme, addictive gameloop, and the icons of the people were funny looking :)   Well done!

Only one thing I can really complain is the audio getting glitchy when posting danker memes. But I see many other people complaining about it here so no need for me to get more in depth.

Developer

thank you! :D Your game is one my favorites too!!

I love progression-style games. Definitely had that “one-more round” vibe about it. After a while, seeing the same memes repeat after a few days got a bit stale, but that is an easy fix and certainly understandable with a game “prototype”. And good choice of well-known memes… gave me a nostalgia trip as well. One last minor suggestion would be maybe having an explanation of how each of the “stats” (virality, university, etc.) affect your likelihood of spreading and getting fans. Maybe a tooltip or a help menu, or something. Well done, all in all!

Developer

thanks! I am happy you liked it :D

There is actually a tooltip when the mouse is over the stats text, so I am not sure if you are saying these were not explaning the mechanic good enough, or if you missed them entirely, which then is a UX problem for me to solve? Cheers

Submitted(+1)

It was user error… I missed them entirely facepalm

Developer

No worries haha ^^' There is no visual cue they exist at first glance so maybe I need to add something

Simple but satisfying game loop. Took me 15 days to win, although I do think I can get that number down to about 12 if I put fans in the right categories from the get-go.

I love the idea of a Discord invite link as a "reward" and to join the society, sadly the invite had expired and wasn't working.

Normally I'd consider sound-breaking as a bad thing, but it honestly just ended up sounding bass-boosted towards the end, which added to the memeness of it all, so it fit strangely well! I don't know that that's intentional, but it gave the game a much more "dank" feeling once you got past, like, 300 shares per post.

Good job!

Developer

thanks a lot!

Yeah the invite is broken, I was certain i put a permanent one but for some reason I made a mistake :/ Here's the permanent one if you want https://theophile-dreux.itch.io/memes-die-too

I'm glad you liked the exploding audio lol ^^' It actually does help for the gamefeel, though I would like it better if I did it on purpose x) I for sure will fix this problem after voting ends but will try to replicate the experience of audio going wild. Thanks for the feedback!

It took me 15 days to achieve victory. Having come here from the community forums I get a sneaking suspicion that another negative nancy has probably rated you fairly poorly (as they likely have me as well) so I am here to level the scales by maxing your rating across all categories. I thought your game idea was very novel and the gameplay unique (at least I have never seen it before). This also makes it very innovative to me, and it fits the theme interpretation perfectly. Did notice that when shares got to a high number there were some apparent performance issues in the browser FYI, but this doesn't factor into my scoring for your game. Great work.

Developer(+1)

😭 you are so positive about my game omg thank you!!!!!

I am quite sure this guy rated me bad, as he rated most certainly everyone's game bad ^^' I'll check yours to correct this tendancy too! thanks for doing this in the first place :)

yeah performance issues are well-known, and I now know why :/ for jam rules i won't fix it until voting ends though (and it requires me to dig deep in my code so not i'm looking into it with hype ^^' )

Submitted(+1)

its not a big deal - at first I actually thought it was a feature!! It was like "oh damn the sharing is getting crazy everything is taking strain!" lol. I think what you did here was very well put together, and in Unity too, has me wondering how it was done, so will also try to learn from your github :)

Developer(+1)

well the code is pretty messy x) but i did put a few comments for me to understand what i was doing, i hope it will help. As a first tip, the best place to start should be the scripts Tree, TreeNode and SpreadingLogic.

I also have plans to make a simple video explaining the design process and philosophy for my portfolio so I could link you that when it's ready if you want.

Didn't work for me but looks good, intresting concept but horrible graphcis, see my game for that.

Developer

could you specify your browser, OS and hardware? it's supposed to work for everyone

Firefox, Arch Linux (Latest) and I have pretty modern computer, that can run Unreal and my game, that you played in 100 FPS.
