Hallo,

Thank you for sharing your game.  I’ve already saved its RATING;

1. verified: GAME due to observed anttihaavikko of GAME OFF 2022 Entry, “In the Cards”, et al. wrote a review of it; adds: Developer Team appears to also write replies; notes: GAME to be classified as playable via web browser;

2. observed: noticeable use of 2D and 3D drawing techniques; example: noticeable CHANGE in drawing of companion HAMSTER with headphone and mic based on ACTION, e.g. searching for item, putting the item in the set location; adds: 3D object rotation technique; adds: 2D walking image animation technique; admits: re-classified burglars as HAMSTER, instead of MOUSE after observing and reading “hamster” in the FEEDBACK of Rambo_One2 with GAME OFF 2022 ENTRY, “Ambulance Chaser”

3. observed: game to have noticeable background music and sound effects

4. verified: GAMEPLAY to be of searching for a set of three items to be put in any of the available locations classified for pick-up; observed: protagonist hamster is not caught when at position where crow with flashlight is also located to appear to be incorrect output, albeit may been set to decrease difficulty for player and developer; notes: select items can be taken, albeit are not the target items and no highscore ranking exists; adds: mansion map is reusable via change of target items

5. finished: all available missions, including the tutorial and mansion night#1,2,3; remembers: MAPPY (Family Computer) due to GAME SETTING also inside a mansion where select items are taken; observed: self may have continued if there exists additional levels; adds: however, ELAPSED TIME already available as CHALLENGE; admits: finishing quickly the game (without yet the ELAPSED TIME CHALLENGE) causes POSITIVE EMOTION classified as achievement for reaching THE END

Thank you. Health!

Developer

Thank you for such a thorough review! Really appreciate the time you put into this and it's good to see your thought process for each section - thanks for playing :)

Thank you, too, for sharing your game and your response! Congratulations also that GAME OFF 2021 Rank#1, anttihaavikko, with his 2022 entry, “In the Cards”, has written a review of your GAME!  Health!

Lovely art, it's a clever take on an old formula that really spices it up. Also, the full-cheeked hamster art is great!

Thanks so much for playing and the lovely comment!

A very interesting game, everything is thought out with excellent mechanics.

Developer

Thank you! Lovely comment :)

Really clever interpretation of the theme; I love how thieving hamsters makes total sense given the mechanics. The house being the same between missions was good as it gave you an incentive to learn and map where things were to get your time down. I expected there to be a puzzle where I would have to eat something I wasn't "supposed" to steal in order to get to an item, although it would have required some clever level design to show you that that was the answer. I found the stealth mechanic a little frustrating at times with the crows suddenly turning around, but something which could be easily fixed. The graphics were amazing, really great entry!

Developer

Thanks for the lovely comment and great feedback! We were thinking about some items being only accessible while being THICK with the wrong item, but decided to make it negative and lose time - will have an extra think on that :) And with the crows, we should have done what we did with the CCTV and pause before they turn round with an animation - so good shout on the feedback!

Thanks for playing :)

I really like this game and its concept! Like how you twisted the "Thick as Thieves"!

I was a bit disappointed there was not different rooms, but the current room was adequately designed, so that it was hard for me to find the fork in the third level. Well done!

(AND IT IS SOO CUTE)

Developer(+1)

Thank you :) due to time constraints, we decided to make one big level, and make players get certain item for each night! Everything is setup to make many more levels though, something to look forward to in future :) thanks for playing and the lovely feedback!

This game is extremeley crazy and funny.

Developer

Thank you :D glad you found it funny, wanted it to be silly as possible!

Adorable! I like how different map areas become available when you have eaten an object. There's lots of potential here for innovation. The sound effects, like the crow, were good as well. My only hiccup was that i kept trying to press a jump button when there isn't one.

The art style is also great, the sprites are the cutest

Developer

Thanks for playing :) we wanted to only be able to climb stairs while THICK, so we didn't implement a jump! Something we may think about being more upfront about or changing the level dynamics, cheers for the feedback :)

You did a GREAT job. Good movement, level design, sound.(it gives me robbery bob vibes)

Developer

Thank you :D what a great comment!

Fun concept with adorable visuals & writing! Music is very fitting, too. Traveling through hamster tubes instead of air vents is cute.

The single map is interesting to explore, and the difficulty seemed kindly tuned—to me it felt challenging without actually being challenging. I generally finished without two minutes to spare each time on the first try, but also had stretches where I worried I might not find things in time.

I wish there were more maps! And that the existing map changed a bit each night, if only to remove the items you already stole. But maybe that shadowy boss figure is just ransoming back the goods? Hmm...

I'm also impressed you were able to put together something so good with such a large team—often in jams it seems like things move too fast to easily keep groups over 4-5 people in sync & motivated.

Well done!

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play the game so thoroughly with some good thoughts thrown in there!! We ran out of time so made the items different each night that you had to collect, thought it'd be a good compromise for such a large map and to reuse it :) might have been funny if the other nights the items we stole previously were now knock-off replacements haha

Thanks again for the lovely comment and also well done on your solid game jam game!

Is the last level even possible? I just can't figure out how to get the fork. I know exactly where it is but can't find how to get there without already having something in my mouth which of course blocks me from picking it up.

Well, never mind. Did go for another try after writing this whole thing and found the weird drop spot.

Cute visuals. Some stuff looked annoyingly blurry. Even the player character got blurry when rolling in the pipes. Quite a lot of the items had the same thing and same for the chandeliers. The list appearing and disappearing seemed a bit useless. Why not just keep it on the screen at all times.

It controlled pretty well. The rolling physics while stuffed where kinda janky, especially when climbing stairs, but that didn't really matter that much. A bit more polish on that would have made rolling around way more fun. And the whole game was quite on rails, there really wasn't that much movement freedom. Well there was some strategising when your mouth was stuffed like you could get over pillars/stairs and kinda control whether to pass or lower on a chandelier. But obviously you had to ditch the stuff before getting something else so there goes that idea for any skips or creative thinking really.

The guards and cameras where just an annoyance really. They posed no difficulty at all and quite often they were such a time waste that it's just better to take the penalty and blow through them. A stealth game with a time limit is a bit of an oxymoron really I think. Usually in stealth games you have to be patient and wait around learning the environment but that doesn't work here at all. And just losing time as a punishment isn't great as you're losing time while waiting for them to pass too. Obviously just instant failure wouldn't be a great fit here either though. I think that's the beauty in stealth games, you get caught, you have to fight your way out and the odds are usually way stacked against you.

It did start getting a bit repetitive already doing the same level again and again. I already had to scour pretty much the whole join on the first level as one of the objectives was pretty much the last item I came upon so the next runs were just more of the same really.

That's about it. Good job, pretty fun game! 👍

Developer

Thank you for taking the time to play our game and to write so much about it! We've been discussing your feedback and appreciate it :) will take it on board for future game jams, we are relatively new so appreciate this level of depth.

Love the artwork, love the music and audio, loved rolling around with stuff in my mouth. Had some collision weirdness with items in my mouth once or twice but super clean.

Developer

Thank you for playing!! Do you know what browser you played on? Will look into the weird collision stuff! Cheers again for the lovely comments :)

Google chrome :) cheers!

I loved the game! It was funny, well executed idea! All aspects are well designed no need to say more!

I just felt missing of jumping, I always tried to jump :D And sometimes climbing with foods felt slow.

The game has too much potential on Mobile platforms. It reminds me Dadish game series but this is more original.

Developer

Thanks for playing :D our previous game jam game we made it work on mobile, we didn't implement it this time due to time constraints sadly! We've taken the feedback on board and will speed up the climbing with food :) cheers for the great feedback!

Fun game.

Developer

Thank you :)

The art is very charming here. The awkward tumbling controls worked surprisingly well. I had a heck of a time finishing the missions as I kept forgetting where certain items were! I also noticed that you can sorta 'cheat' the crows if you just stand right on top of them -- they won't see you when they turn around. All those years of playing MGS 1 and 2 have served me well! Great entry.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the lovely comment, great shout with the MGS tactics :D time for me to give that cheat a whirl!

Submitted(+1)

So what the hell, why is this so cute! Art is top notch. I also love how the smooth controls shift to fun and clunky when your cheeks are full.  Great job!

Developer

Gah thank you for playing!  We truly enjoyed making this game, was really fun to dev!

I loved the game so  much. The level design is really good, and you did a great job of reusing the map across levels. I love the movement change when the mouse becomes bloated. The game fits the theme really well too! One of my favourite games I've seen this jam so far!

Developer

Ahh thank you so much!! T_T  We are so happy you enjoyed it, thank you for playing!
