The gameplay reminds me of the plane minigame in Lego Island Extreme Stunts, really nostalgic! (I'm not gonna reference Superman for the N64 when Lego Island is a 1000 times better reference heh).
The concept is quite simple, and I think that its simplicity is holding back the true potential of the gameplay. Adding more gameplay elements to the formula would make this game more interesting to play, things such as speed buffs and debuffs, moving targets, going though different locations, etc.
The movement felt overall nice, but there are two minor issues that distracted me while playing. The player's model seems to have a little stutter; I don't know if this will be your case, but when it happened to me it was because I was calling a move function inside _process instead of _physics_process. The other issue is a silly little detail, and it may be an only me problem, but the camera angle is a little rotated in some parts of the game, which was a little distracting for me.
The game having an online multiplayer option is quite ambitious and unique for a jam game, well done! I haven't had time to try it out yet, but I do want to give it a try with someone and have some races 😄
Well done overall, keep working and improving guys, you are in the right path!! 😊
Thanks! Yeah, we are lacking a few features. We had some more stuff in mind but we did not commit that much time, this was mainly a little exercise to learn some godot. Will look at the process vs physics process bug, sounds like a rookie mistake :)
Quite busy right now in life but will pick a day where I host a multiplayer lobby and stresstest a bit. Could you write to you then.
Lego Island Extreme Stunts looks really fun btw!
Nice concept! I love this simple game.
Thanks! Looking forward to trying yours :)
Lovely simple game. I have played a minigame very similar to this before and found the idea intuitive. I got
32 seconds and I'm quite happy with that21.5 seconds and I would really appreciate a quick-restart button at this point!I'm pleased that you let us un-invert the controls in the settings because I couldn't handle the default. But once it was set the way I'm used to, I found it easy to slow down and speed up on all the right bits.
Some music may have been nice.
I haven't tried the multiplayer aspect but that seems really interesting.
Yeah +1 on the quick restart! 21.5 seconds is solid, the fastest time by far by a non developer.
You should give multiplayer a try! Was very fun to play with the other people in my team or with friends. It was really easy to set up in Godot. We might not do it in the best way but it works!
Making a multiplayer game is actually very hard in a jam time so congratulations. I did not test the multiplayer part but if anybody find me on discord we can play the multiplayer games.
For solo play:
Controls:
I think non inverted should be the normal options. Also mouse controls were a little fast but I had a custom dpi mouse so it was fine for me. I did not understand why we should roll?
Gameplay:
What I miss in those ring racer games is that if you miss a ring you have to return back. Now this would not work for multiplayer prob but at least in solo play I wish the game also move to the next ring or accept the next ring even if we miss some. Of course leaderboard would be based on that.
Thank you for playing and for the feedback!
We had a version where you couldn't roll, but we felt that it was fun to do barrel rolls so we added it back.
I like your suggestion to be able to miss a few rings. Maybe we should make it so that you can take any of the next 2-3 rings from the latest one you took. It would also allow for some innovative shortcuts :)
We could totally arange a mutiplayer session. I think we should be able to have at least 16 players (that is how many spawnpoints we have :D) but we have only tested with max 3. Will think about a day and time and write to you :)
Good looking fish racer game (now there's a sentence I never thought I'd write ;P)
The controls are hard and only got a bit better for me after not inverting the X-axis. I never even increased my speed as I was too busy aiming the fish ! But I did have fun durdling around with my happy swimmer, bonking into all of the level.
Some music would add to the atmosphere and an on screen timer + progress bar would convey a more racer feeling to the game. I never felt hurried since there was no timer (and I had too much trouble controlling my fish).
I never knew you would be timed if you finished it until I read the comments here ;P
Great job on the game and it sure has potential !
Thanks for the feedback! We will probably add an on screen timer. If you play with others there is a bigger incentive to be fast :)
It's a lot of fun; let's see if in a few more tries, I can beat my score. Really enjoyable to play, honestly. Very good job ^^
Thanks a lot! What time did you get?
38 seconds here after a few tries! reminded me of the rocket league ring trainings lol awesome that you got multiplayer working! this could be a really really fun game to play with friends, you could have different sorts of fish / attributes. Really like the fish tank as an area to explore, also nice stuff to find around the track in the tank as well. Great job! :)
Yeah, we were thinking of assembling your own fish and race with that. But that was a bit out of scope :) One of the best scores from outside the dev team!
77 Seconds here. Basically I think it worked well as a conceptual game. perhaps some music, some time goals to meet, maybe you go faster after each ring or something, I dunno, just something to make it more engaging after the first few rings to want to go again.
Yup, totally. It needs to be fleshed out, thanks for playing!
Good one! congrats :D
Thanks!
Honestly dude this feels like it could be one of those viral games that people get really good at for the luls. i like the look and the controls are actually really smooth and responsive if you can get the hang of it. Really cool idea.
Thanks! I think we will continue to work with it especially since it is multiplayer. Makes it a lot more fun :D
The joel game. Can't give any detailed feedback as the game doesn't have a lot to it. Some music would have been nice but that's all I can really say.
Yeah, I agree with the music. What do you mean with the joel game :P
99secs, took me a while to find the last checkpoint. Cool idea, good luck!
Thanks for playing, will check out your game aswell
It's pretty nice, but I couldn't play the multiplayer :(
Did you download it? You have to port forward as the host aswell, if you want to play multiplayer I could host and you could join me :)
