Really nice platformer. I enjoyed the environment. Congrats!

Developer

Thank you!

Pretty Nice game!

The music sounded a bit buggy, however the gameplay was great!

I specially like the way you show the backstory and teach the player through those wooden planks!

Developer

Thank you! Yes the web one tends to be buggy on slow connections.

Very neat concept! I like how you managed to add many ways to play in a small game, making small sections for each of the souls instead of adding powe-ups! 😄

The game's fun overall, but I feel like some sections/puzzles are a little cryptic, making difficult to know what I'm supposed to do next. Other than that, the game feels great to play and the controls are very tight, well done! 😀

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback!

Hope it helps!

nice game , i like it :D

Great game! I loved the water effect :)

Developer

Thanks!

Honestly, really great idea for a game. I still loved fish the most though, because of the swimming animations primarily. I did notice a couple things, that it's harsh that you can't change characters as you're drowning/suffocating and if you restart while falling in a death pit, you only have half a life when you respawn. Oh, also, I'd have loved something that indicates when you're being hit, like a bounce back or maybe a grace period of invincibility. Other than that though, I had a great time! This game has legs for a longer entry for sure. It's very metroidvania in the way that you get other characters/personalities. Games like this challenge your brain to think about what you've just seen and how to work past it with every new skull. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! I will try to fix the half health bug... Yes I was going to add knock back but the problem was if you get hit while high up you could get knocked far down and die of fall damage. I should add like a red blur around the edges or something...

Even a sound effect would do. But I'm not here to criticize your game, just something I noticed. It's hella cool

Developer

oh yeah a sound effect might help too. And I like criticism! It helps me make it more fun!

Nice and smooth gameplay experience. Art and music was neat and the gameplay idea was interesting and executed well

Developer

Thank you!

Good game idea. I liked the mechanic of changing characters, and I found out that the Web version lags a lot and the sounds are a bit buggy. Everything else is great!

Developer

Thanks! Yes web version is a little laggy.

Submitted

The game is very interesting, although sometimes the controls feel a bit sloppy. The truth is, it's quite cool ^^ Special mention to the animation style, I really like it, haha

Developer(+1)

Yeah need to add coyote time to the jumping. Thank you I put a lot of work into the animations! Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted

Really cool concept of changing the characters ! I found the web version to be a bit buggy but other than that it was a nice experience, would love to see more.

Developer

Yes the browser one is pretty laggy sometimes. Thank you!

Submitted

I like the concept and there seems to be a lot in this game. Unfortunately I got stuck in the part after becoming a fish man. I explored those caves but I don’t know where to go next. If I find out what to do next I’d love to come back to this. All the silhouetted characters give me the promise of a lot of content I am very curious about.

Although a bit laggy (I played the web version), there’s a lot of attention to detail that I really appreciate. The very pretty parallaxed backgrounds, the random animal sounds, the water ripples, and more, gives the game a nice charm.

Good work! I hope to come back to it once I figure out where to go next!

Developer

after you get the fish you're supposed to go underwater and get the "strangely shaped piece of wood" You can use it to open the apparatus (door) at the start. just click on the little lever at the base of the door.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Really liked Grapple Pack!

I like the idea of changing characters, sort of like a metroidvania with a unique twist. I like that the world is very big and has much to explore. The problem with my playthrough is sometimes I cannot transform for some reason.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Yes I spent a lot of time on world building. You cannot transform when you're drowning or suffocating.

Submitted

oh thats why! I was able to transform as knight to fish in water while inside the earth area, so I thought this wouldnt be the case. I guess the knight was bobbing up and down between earth and water so his state doesnt count as drowning or suffocating for a short time window?

Developer(+1)

Well you only count as drowning/suffocating after your bubbles all go away. If you were underwater and still had some bubbles left you could switch to the soldier.

Submitted

For some reason my fish man would automatically swim up the waterfall in the cave. Cool concept, I died to the giant pit a lot as the soldier. Great work!

Developer

Yeah that pit seems to be giving a lot of people trouble... Thanks for playing anyway though!

I liked the cute graphics and animations. They reminded me of Terraria. The souls mechanic is clever and works really well.

On the other hand, I felt it had too much text for an action platformer. It made the start very slow.

Congratulations. Keep it up! :)

Developer

I'm honored to have my work compared to such a work of art as Terraria! Thank you so much!

Submitted

the way the screen moves when you jump made me a bit nauseous, but overall i really enjoyed playing what i could! this has a lot of charm and heart, and i'm sorry i couldn't see more of it. great job!

Developer(+1)

Will be making a demo video of playing the whole game through if you get stuck eventually. Thanks for playing! And for the feedback! lmk where you got stuck and I can help you if you want!

Submitted

Loved the concept, though I only managed to get the first 2 skulls, I might be missing a trick

Submitted

Yes I was missing a trick, got the 3rd

Developer

Oh nice! Good luck! Let me know if you beat the whole thing!

Submitted

Had a bit of trouble understanding the game at first but after unlocking the first skull the game turned into a lot of fun. Nearly unlocked all characters now and really enjoying it. well done!

Developer

Thank you!

Submitted

different take on the theme. game is confusing at first but onec i figured out the mechanics it was fun. Well done

Developer

Yeah you're supposed to be "scaling your soul" XD

Submitted

Interesting idea be able to play with multiple characters! Well done!

Developer

Thank you! How far did you get?

Submitted

Admittedly not very far. I got stuck in the caves and couldn't figure out where to go : /

Developer(+1)

aw bummer

maybe I'll make a solution video.

Developer

thanks so much!

Submitted

Controls was too bad I could not even open the other characters. I was just falling the first pit.
Coyote time  would help this game a lot.

Developer

Oh yes! Coyote time would help! Will update after jam ends!

Developer

I think that first pit was a little hard but if you just stand in the right place before you jump it works every time. I guess as I developed it I just got so used to it I didn't notice anymore. Thanks for the feedback!
