Great work! I got quite invested and managed to beat it twice, first at level 20 and then at 12. It has a bit of a slow start (since I missed out on base attack +1) but with the right powerups it felt pretty exciting! Also a huge fan of the powerup screen's ascii background filter.

One thing I felt was missing is being able to see the current level of a powerup and how much the "+1" would do. Perhaps adding a label like "2 -> 3" might help. Although since +1 has diminishing returns, some powerups might benefit from being a multiplier like x1.5 or a hardcoded list of values.

Oh the game is so great. I do agree by the fact that the text can be hard to read. I took a lot of time touinderstand how the level up skill choice works, but the game is very well done !

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I should've at least added a snippet of text in the level up screen to explain what's going on. I meant to do that, but forgot >﹏<I'll be sure to add that in the post-jam update.

Great game! I love the gameplay and art style! My only feedback is that sometimes the monochrome color palette made the text hard to read. A pause button would also be a nice addition. I think the idea of having the boss there the whole time but you have to upgrade before you have a chance of killing them is really cool! Great work!

Thanks for the feedback! Moments before reading this, I just added a pause button for a small post-jam update. I could adjust some of the text too

Tiddies, no offence fire game

The art and animations are so good! Upgrades are neat and definitely made it feel like I was powering up.

Really great game. I love the idea of a survivors-like with a giant level boss. Cool stuff.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The original plan was for it to be a boss rush. When that didn't work out I leaned more into the Survivors inspiration.

This submission has a great atmosphere and solid gameplay. Including more devastating weapons/upgrades and enhancing enemy progression would make it even better!

Developer

Thanks! I totally agree with your suggestions

One of my favorite games so far. Nice work.

Amazing game! Absolutely loved the atmosphere you created with the audio and graphics. The gameplay was very addictive too :)

Developer

Thanks! Along with making the game visually appealing, my goal was addictive gameplay

Fantastic! Very fun! I love the gameplay of keeping DPS on the boss while getting swarmed. The AI was prefect enough to box you in but not take cheap shots. The color palette is perfect. Really inspiring me to keep on tinkering with Gdevelop.

Developer

Thanks! I'm happy you liked it. Also happy to hear you want to try out Gdevelop. I hate programming and that's a big reason why I love Gdevelop. It also makes certain things like creating a player controller for platformers stupid easy.  I wouldn't recommend it for super complex games, but for small projects like jam games I'd say it's perfect.

I could keep playing this keep it up!

Thanks! Replayability was a goal of mine

Well done on the graphics! Everything looks awesome and feels very polished. I didn’t make it super far because I’m not great at this kind of game, but it was still a lot of fun. Great job!

Love the style and polish of this game. Great music, sfx and visuals. The gameplay itself is also solid. I chose the attack ability for every level.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I tend to go for that attack oriented abilities too. If I was to spend more time on this, I'd definitely make balancing the upgrades a priority.

Really solid presentation, the graphics and audio play well together. The attacks and effects were also really visually appealing. My biggest feedback is that the enemies seemed to be way too much of a bullet sponge as even the simplest enemies would take many shots to kill. This made the gameplay feel more like a slog than what would probably be ideal for this type of game. Otherwise it's really solid top down shooter/bullet hell game so great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the compliments and feedback! I totally agree the enemies are a slog to kill in this version. I had done most of my testing with a high fire rate which helped me cut through them quickly. My intent was to allow players to also get a high fire rate through upgrades, but due to a last minute error on my part it won't appear as an option in this build. Whoops. Maybe I should've made the base fire rate higher though.

Incredible work! The visual effects are stunning, and I love the art style in the game. It's hard to imagine it was completed in such a short time, Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Most of the development time was spent on art, so it better be good.
