Great idea about the menu. I like the mood and old school feeling. Very dope the matrix boss.

Some considerations about the gameplay:
The jump was floaty and it will be interesting to add some timer to allow the character to jump even when it's a little bit off the platform, I think this will bring more fairness to the game and flexibility.
I don't know if this is intended but, the enemies restored their lives in patrol mode, and sometimes even when I shot them the life doesn't go down.
The laser weapon is extremely overpowered, it took less than 1 sec to kill the second boss, if is not intended, it needs some balancing.

It will be nice too, to give more feedback to the player, a vfx or sfx for reload the weapon and some kind of map or something for orienting the player.

Developer

The minimap is an awesome idea.  I'll look forward to laser weapon problem. The enemy regaining life was intended, so you can't go too far from enemy then battling it. Thanks for  honest feedback and bringing new ideas to the scene.

Really creative UI. I can tell lots of work went into this game. Great job!

I would've liked the wall jump to be a little easier. you need impeccable timing to make it work and that can be a little frustrating.

Developer

Today I am uplaoading a new update that makes jumping and walljumping easier

The menu is great and I like the set of an old tv. Cool artstyle!

Developer

Thanks for playing and feedback

The menu was very cool but took me a second to realize you clicked and dragged the cassettes (I would suggest saying click and drag to the cassette slot to make sure people don't just sit there clueless). Im glad I played another game that had wall jumping in it, because it works slightly different from mine, and it was hard for me to do it consistently, so getting others feedback lets us know that wall jumping needs to be very polished, or should be traded in for a different idea. The music was fine, but the other sound effects of enemies chasing and shots being fired were very overbearing, but that could be fixed by just making the sound effects quieter.

Developer

Thanks for the honest feedback

The amount of effort that went into this game is insane! I really liked the visuals and the levels were well designed.

Developer

Thank you so much for such a positive feedback.

Many things are cool about retro gaming but perhaps not the poor visual quality of a retro TV...

Inserting an audio cassette in a TV is just weird :)

The game was too hard for me, but appears to be very well made.

So great job despite some minor complaints!

Developer

Thanks A lot for feedback.
Let us know about your complaints are and we will work on it.

Fun game! The menu is awesome, and the old scratchy television set gives a nice old school vibe.

I found the tutorial a bit too difficult though. Maybe some way to pause the time while reading the instructions will make it a bit easier (or increasing the time to start with).

Also I think some indication that you are being damaged I think would be a useful addition (like flashing the character or something.

Otherwise good job!

Developer

Nice idea with the visuals
Yes Sure we will upload a build with more time in the tutorial level. We don't want our players having a hard time playing it.
Thank You For The Feedback.

Loved the menu and inserting the cassette to play. Really creative!!

It needs a little bit of polish here and there (baloon in tutorial, after walking in an inclined surface the players jumps after as soon as you stop walking, etc) and some controls improvement and flexbility like adding arrows (found it quite hard to play with wasd and space).

Besides that I really liked it, the bosses were crazy! hahah Would love to play more levels.  Good job!

Developer

I am glad you liked it. Also I of course left a rating under your game it deserves it :).

Developer

Thanks A Lot for your feedback.
The game is still under development

The main menu was very original. I didn't know what to do until I realize there is text that explains everything on the right. I like how the weapon aiming works but it was really hard for me the part of the wall jump. Overall a fun platformer, good job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback

Nice game! The skeuomorphic interface was a really cool choice.  Putting the cassette tapes into the slot was super unique. I felt the  tutorial was a little wordy but it taught me the concepts well!

Nice job!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback. The tutorial was made long and wordy for one reason is to make the player familiar with the mechanics.

Submitted(+1)

Love the main menu :) It took me a second to figure it out, not gonna lie. I like the stuck in a cassette look- but as Kazeheki said, it is a bit too white. An option would be great. I also had trouble with climbing the wall- I managed to climb it at first, but then got stuck at a high platform I was supposed to jump at. When I tried again I couldn't manage to climb at all. I would have also liked the option of arrow keys besides WASD, maybe I'm alone in this but I'm much more used to them.  Overall very nice gameplay and idea, I especially liked that we can aim the rifle. Cool music too- though it reiterates a lot :) With a little polish this will be a very nice nostalgic game!

Developer

Thanks a lot for your honest feedback. We will look into the matter that you pointed out.
We also did like the menu a lot

Submitted(+1)

I like the visuals in general but because of the white overlay it was quite hard for me to look at it. The white overlay gave me some headache, probably the contrast is too low for me. Giving it some “higher contrasts” option would be a nice to have.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback. We had to put that white overlay to make screen look more curved. But bigger contrast option is a good idea

Submitted(+1)

the visuals were really cool especially the cassette in the main menu, the only thing i didnt like was the wall jumping was a bit, it was really hard and maybe adding a wall grabbing animation can tell  the player that he is hanging on the wall and can jump again. right now it looks like a bug that the player just stuck in the wall. other than that great game.(best main menu i have seen)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback.
The wall jump is intended that way but we have received a lot of feedback on it and we are in discussion to how exactly improve it.

Submitted(+1)

This has a very cool look! Love the cassette idea, very original. And I enjoyed the old-school graphics too.

I didn't get very far because I constantly was getting stuck  while jumping. I found the movement a bit frustrating. Admittedly I didn't put much time into it, I'm sure I'd get better at it with more practice.

Developer

The wall jump is something we wanted to add to our game.
All the game mechanics are related to any of the time quotes. So we wanted to keep everything time related.

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed the old graphics, some of the mechanics weren't as enjoyable and some polishing would definitely make it better, but great submission nonetheless.

Developer

Thanks for playing. What mechanics you didn't like?

Developer

Thanks for the feedback.
What exactly bothered you the most?

Submitted(+1)

I didn't like the jump mechanic, I just felt you need to get the timing perfect or else you will fall and sometimes it became really frustrating dropping from high points. I also felt as though the enemies weren't a challenge at all and got no satisfaction from killing them, I could just run past them and ignore. The boss fight was also very stale and repetitive. Again, this is just my opinion, I hope it doesn't come across as me slandering your game, I think the game is still amazing and very well made with a lot of effort. Just some of my the things I disliked, just my opinion though.

Developer

The Jumping mechanics is what most of our users have complained about. We are working to fix that issue. The enemies work slight differently as in when their health is less they attack faster. The Boss Fight is something that is still under development.
No worries all opinions are welcomed and as developers we really appreciate all kinds of feedback.

Developer

Also I wanted to add, that I think, you played the game only till level 1.  Lvl 2 and lvl3 bosses are much more interesting.  I bet you'll like it. We didn't have time to make the first boss battle as fun as others.

Submitted(+1)

Oh and why not make the aiming with mouse? so many times I try to shoot and move away but I would shoot the opposite way or would have to restrict my movement.

Developer(+1)

We wanted to go with a more classic arcade set up where all controls are there on your keyboard.

Submitted(+1)

The visuals is really the best element of your game, I always find something unique in this  older art style with tape cassettes etc. The melody is nice as well, and compliments the gameplay.

I have some suggestions for you. First of all, I don't like that the character sticks to the wall if I didn't jump high enough, reducing or removing friction can help. Also, I would rather control the gun with my mouse, but probably it's just a personal preference. But overall, the game is really appealing and cool, nice job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks For The Feedback.
While developing we had many thoughts about the wall jump mechanics and after hours of discussion we decided a wall jump of this type.
About the controls we wanted to make sure all the controls are on the keyboard.

Submitted(+1)

I really like the look/feel and music. I wanted to play this FULL screen, the TV effect and the tape cassette within the vhs was funny! (BUT I WANT TO SEE THIS CUTE LITTLE GUY HOLDING THE GUN!) hahah great work- you nailed the cute and surreal aspect.

Developer

Thanks for playing

Developer

haha
We also didn't want him to hold a gun but sometimes the good guys need to be bad in order to make the bad guys suffer.

fantastic game, with beautiful old TV graphics

Nice platformer :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback.

Game somehow gave a cool feeling, but was a bit annoyed that the bullets weren't hurting the enemy, apparently you have to be really close, also the controls were a bit weird. In games like these, if you have different controls and mechanics I would suggest a small tutorial to start of the game. Lot of people don't read up on instructions too much, they are used to having certain buttons do certain things.

Overall good art and cool idea, but polish it a bit, and it feels more complete! :)

Developer

This might sound crazy but this isn't the whole game. There's a windows build available that's is the whole game with the tutorials and everything. We tried the webgl but it wasn't stable.
So do try our Windows Build.

Thanks for the feedback.

Submitted(+1)

Oh perfect, I will try that our for sure and give feedback on there as well!! :)

Developer

Thank You
We are working on making a stable build for all the platforms.

I improved my rating for you guys, the PC version was better for sure. Few suggestions:

1) Make the tips on the casette player (right side) pop out more, so people notice them. When I got to the end, I was wondering what is happening, until I read them on the side :D

2) Jumping is a bit weird, once I got the hang of it, it was alright, but for sure could frustrate and make a lot of people quit thinking that it does not work. I realised that you have to take the movement button away, press space and then move for it to be able to work. Not sure if this was meant for the game, but I would think about changing this.

3) One enemy was inside the floor on the end of the map.

4) The animation does not really work if you're looking toward left with your gun, the guns position is way off (more of an aesthetic problem though) But one real problem was aiming upper corner maybe add that pressing Q/E will put the weapon towards there if you're looking at that way.

Otherwise good idea and I would definitely love to play more levels and find more guns to use/etc, I liked the powerups too, but there should be better explanation what they do, still not sure what the bullet things did, one I realised was slowed time, which was actually quite well done, you could go close to an enemy and empty your clip and then watch the bullets fly (Really liked that), one was some kind of rewind, if you died.

Developer(+1)

Thank You for the improved ratings.

The idea behind such a design was to give an experience of the earlier gaming  time. The Jumping is the one thing the we added as a part of a more advanced plat-former.
We will look into the enemy that was floating at the end of the level.
Each  power-up has a manual which is shown at the right of the screen but that's something we plan to improve in the future builds.
There are more than 5 weapons in the game which you can find in the chest as per your skill and rarity.

Submitted

Yeah I didn't dislike the jumping but probably would have needed to get a small tutorial how it worked, in the end I kind of liked how it felt! :)

Oh alright, that explains it, I just missed the manuals, maybe just by giving a bigger notifications on the side when it is showing something, since I was focusing on the gamescreen. I liked the whole casette player thing though, it was so cool!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Now we made fully stable build for WEBGl(and other platforms). The level loading didn't work for earlier build, but now you can play through 3 complete levels(and tutorial)

Submitted(+1)

5/5 on every aspect this time! I need to tell that your effort have been so amazing with this game, making it better and listening to feedback!

One thing I noticed is that during the tutorial if you don't do exactly what it tells you to do (for example pick up the sniper) it won't continue the tutorial, meaning once you get on the state that there is the fucker who kills you immediately, it doesn't spawn the timestop power. Otherwise great game, and I played all of them through, the last boss was perfectly hard as well. It took me 3 times to beat him, wish I had some other weapon on that instead of the basic one. I liked the explodin minigun thing! :D

Developer

Thank You For Your Feedback.
Tutorials are supposed to be like that way. When the player is new to the game, it's important to know all the mechanics and controls.
