I don't know why, but the main area of the game screen is just plain black for me. All I get is the small map in the corner.

I tried to build a native version, but the build breaks with an error:

Failed to build player.

I removed the Libary folder that was inside the source archive and tried again, still the same...

(This would be a batchmode build with Unity 2020.3.11 on Linux...)

I managed to build it, not in batch mode but opening the Unity editor. I think the issue was that there was no scene defined at all for the build settings.

Gameplay is somewhat quirky with the disconnect of panning the map view around using WASD keys an then setting a destination waypoint with a click. Especially when combat starts the screen should center on the ships in battle. It would probably easier to control if one had the mouse to set a destination point, with the map view following the mouse when it reaches the screen's edge...

Maybe it's already in there but I didn't know the key for it... having a "center map view on ship" button would be really useful...

Loved the visuals, music and the mood. Felt like an awesome pirate adventure.

The idea of point and click strategy pirate game is also what I love.

The problem is that there was not a lot of depth in point and clicking, this is where maybe different modes of shooting from cannons or some other decisions player could take to either punish or allow the player to get ahead during combat would be cool.

Overall not bad!

Fun game, nice concept.
But things got a bit to samey for me after a while.
Would have liked a bit more variety after some levelling up.
Also a little to zoomed in as well.
But aside from a few nit picks like that, it was a good fun game! Great job smashing it out in 2 weeks!

Loved the game, it's bloody addictive.. Looks great, Sounds great, plays good.. I would've loved not having to control the camera individually, but still fun to play, kept me busy till I killed Dark beard.. I don't know if there was a kill animation for him though, It's kind of like the game froze once I shot him up, with just the purple fireworks and water animations going..

Thank you for playing! And thank you very much for your feedbacks! :)

Good game!!  I especially loved the music theme!  Perfect for the game!   The inputs were a little strange for me.

Thank you very much for playing 😀

Good game - certainly got a lot of cool stuff done in the two weeks! I got a bit overconfident and got taken out at level 17 after I thought I had enough health to take down just one more ship!

If might make a suggestion, perhaps just give a level penalty on death? That's all I can think of, anything else is just polish like maybe letting the player continue right after sinking an enemy ship.

Liked the music a lot! It didn't get repetitive and seemed like there were a lot of distinct tracks.

Nice smooth movement-- always appreciate that in a game. I really like the mechanic of having to go back to the village to buy upgrades and repair your ship. Just a thought-- it might be cool to have the option of exiting combat once you've started fighting another ship. Could open up some different fighting/kiting enemies strategies. Anyway, nice work. Enjoyed this one a lot! :)

This is a fun little game that is very easy to pickup and learn. Awesome job. I havent beaten the boss yet but will go back to finish him off soon. I played this one on my livestream if you would like to see it you can here.

Thank you for playing! Your feedback is right on point too :) Enjoyed watching your stream (youtube recording) as well. Thanks again!

Though it is about gold, I don't think the theme comes back entirely :D

The game is extremely easy to get into. Thoroughly set up. One of the best I played in the jam.

Thank you very much for playing :)

Really, really good. Enjoyed playing this alot!

Couple of odd things with the camera from time to time where it would kind of jutter if you moved to far from the player.

Give me an idicator of my awesome power and health so I know where best to invest my plundered gold and I think you would have a winner!!

Maybe the odd seaserpent or something just to mix things up?

Great job, well done!!

Thank you for playing! Yea the camera is pretty much focused on the player with bounds. I agree with you 100% about the stats numbers to show. Regarding the sea monster, thought about adding the Kraken, but I just lack it as a free asset. Thanks again 😀

So, I got up to level 65 before doing black beard, and I must say the fight got a little underwhelming. Only took 1 shot :P But still, I played until level 65, so it tells a lot. I like the music, like the movement mechanic, like the upgrades and the fight. On thing I'm not sure is why the enemy is always the one attacking me first when I'm the one initiating the fight? Was because it was so easy to get so strong? I feel like there could be a better way to balance this.

Developer

Thank you for playing! For sure, there a lot of things to change and tweak to balance the game. I agree with you 100% 😄

Great job on the game. I tried finding the boss. I got to level 41 and circled the map a few times. Is it auto generating? Fun gameplay loop.

Developer

Thank you for playing! The boss is not auto-generated, the new enemy ships are :)

Wow, good job! I really loved the music and art of your game, quite enjoyable. Very well done!

It would have been nice if weapon system got upgraded with the level like shooting two bullets or maby shooting faster.

Overall, I loved the music, perfect match for a pirate game. I felt engaged with the ship surfing around and smashing other ships. I love it :)

God job!

This was great, I liked the way your boats sank, the music was enjoyable, I wish I put a shop in my game now!

Good work! I liked the sense of progression with the levels and the islands are neat. Would have liked to see an improvement of my weapons as I gained levels. Had fun though! Thanks!

I like the suspense of the battles. I also like the concept of leveling after battles. It would be nice to have a way to get back some health. I enjoyed the experience. Thanks!
