I liked this, and was proud of myself for making it through. One suggestion: use lights to draw players' attention to the most important things in a scene.  First person puzzle is a HARD genre, but you pulled it off, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback, am glad you enjoyed it. Will take on board the lights drawing attention… found it a tricky balance between too many clues and none at all!

Even if it's more of a puzzle against the environment and not a twitch shoot or you get shot at game, I'm no good at FPS controls of WASD+mouse. And unfortunately at times the movement was really jerky...

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, can’t be for everyone!

Had some issue with the controller (mostly resolved) and will probably make my own going forward rather than using unity one!

Thanks for giving it a go!!

At first I struggled a bit (I'm not very good at puzzle games) but when I cleared the last room i did it with some degree of satisfaction! Really good demo! A special mention about the music, sometimes was unsettling but in a good way! I hope to see more rooms in the future...

Just one tiny observation, maybe I would use a little less headbobbing.

Good work!

Developer

Thank you for the review, am glad you enjoyed it.

I agree the music was done very well by the artist I found on youtube! :)

Yeah, thanks will take a look at the headbob.

Submitted

Awesome!

About the music, if it's not a problem for you I would like to listen other work made by the artist, can you link some videos on youtube?

Thank you!

Found him when I made my one other game… makes great stuff IMO!

Very interesting 3D puzzle! Very good sound and visuals! I´ve just found too difficult to figure out what is the objective, only from the game itself. But I don´t use to play many puzzles. Very good job!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, I am glad you liked the feel.

Yeah it is a difficult balance between too much info making it too easy and not enough. I will take this on board. :)

Submitted(+1)

Was a little tricky to figure out at first but had fun once I got the hang of it. Great submission!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Ironically I intended for the first room to be the easy puzzle. So glad you had fun!

Submitted(+2)

I was just jumping on the tiles at the first room like a mad man for a while then I started to monitor the behavior and I figured it out finally lol. the second room was amazing, first I tried to jump into the glass by perfectly putting the boxes on top of each other then jumping on them from the ramp lmao. Then I was throwing boxes at the handle lool,  I was trying all kinds of crazy solutions.

And when I saw the ending I was like hell no this is a complete game.

Awesome game really enjoyed it.

(Also the music gave me the chills, felt like some  psycho guy has locked me in these rooms. great choice)

Developer(+1)

Wow, thank you for the awesome feedback.

I am so glad you enjoyed it and managed to escape!

And amazing to see you tried all the stuff I had hoped you might lol

I am also a solo developer and this was my first jam like yourself.

I must add that I'm pretty impressed, would love to work with you on a project, maybe sometime in the future.

And I want to download your source to see what's under the hood lol.

Edit: I can't find it on your page though... Anywhere else you've maybe uploaded it?

2nd Edit: found the github link lol. sorry for being a dork.

Developer(+1)

Thank you again, I have been learning properly for about 6months now.

But I found doing the Challenge club (now called Skill Builder) with GameDev.tv was my breakthrough moment because I needed to do, fail and solve the puzzles I had created in my own code to really start to be able to make stuff.

I am very grateful for the feedback, this whole experience has been such a huge confidence boost and your response has simply made my day! :)

Never say never on a collab, that could be quite good fun!

Submitted(+2)

I was able to jump infinitely on barrels :D I'M THE LORD OF THE SKY!!!!!!!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Totally a feature and not a bug *cough, cough* goes off to make them heavier.

Thanks for playing!

Developer(+1)

Barrel "feature" now removed, thanks for the play test!! :)

Submitted

Wait! I can't even jump with any objects now!!! I'm sad :(

Developer(+1)

You can jump but just normally... you can't use them as rocketships anymore! XD

Submitted(+1)

But...! I'm still sad :(

Submitted(+1)

Nice work on your first jam! I didn't really understand what I was supposed to do in the first room. Eventually made it further though. Seems like you built in a nice amount of challenge. :)

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, glad you at least got out of the first room! :)

(+1)

Challenging, but fun. The challenge makes the game, so don't give up and try! Completed it and now I want more of these! :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and for persevering and making your way out of the level!

Well done!

Submitted(+1)

Its actually quite challenge. Very nice map design but needs more contrast, i didnt see any pipes until i was right next to them, they sort of blend in with the walls. The controls work great. When picking up a box though it will be on screen where you picked it up, you have to place yourself in centre to get it picked up in centre screen. All in all its a great game with awesome music. Well done.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, the contrast thing is intentional as the hiding of the pipes is part of the puzzle aspect :)

I had no idea what I was doing in the first room. The floor seemed to change colors at random? And the switch did nothing? I'm not sure what I'm missing. I tried only stepping on gold platforms, but things kept changing red for seemingly unknown reasons.

The game looks really nice. Controls felt a little twitchy. I liked the music that slowly built up, too.

Nice job on your first game jam!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving it a go, the first room is a lights out type deal.. you step on one block and others change colour around it... you need to work out what tile does what and then you can get the sequence to make all of them gold :)

Appreciate the feedback and agree on controls, even after I have tweaked them... something for future reference!

Submitted(+1)

Good take on the theme, and good start on a puzzle game concept! I managed to put all 6 boxes inside but couldn't get to the gold lever. The movement was a bit too jerky before, but with the update it's a bit better at least for me. Maybe you can incorporate a Sensitivity setting that people can toggle to fit their preferred movement.

Other than that, solid submission for a 2 week jam!

Developer

Thanks so much for the comments and giving it a second go!

Yeah going forward I will build my own controller for the player but glad it feels better!
At least you got the 2nd puzzle completed :)
Reaching the switch is to do with things not being as they seem (optical illusion caused by the colouring of the scene...just in case you want to go again XD)

Developer (3 edits)

Taking feedback into account so far I have made a few changes:

  • Message in first room to give a clue as to how to proceed
  • Tweaked FPS controller a little to stop the wild swinging feeling
  • Widened FOV a little to make it easier to see when carrying items
  • Lightened up the second room to try and reduce peoples migraines!

Thank you for all views and feedback so far!

Submitted(+1)

I managed to figure out the first room. The second room i couldn't get the gist of what to do.
I also had to stop a little while after running around in there for a while, as that style of movement control, combined with the lighting, gives me a migraine :(. But that's my issue, not the game :D.
Otherwise i liked the concept in the first room, and the music was nice and intense, suiting the mood you was aiming for i feel.
Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I am going to look at the lighting today as this has been fed bakc a few times now. The FPS controller that comes from the unity standard assests seems to be an issue also so that is soemthing for me to rethink in the future.

Sometimes maybe I try to be to clever with my puzzles and this makes it too difficult for the player (something for me to work on :) )

Great to get the feedback, will help me as I move forward!

Submitted(+1)

Game feels solid, though the movement is a bit jerky (Too fast for clear navigation). Idea on the gold is cool

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for the feed back... yeah I think I will work on my own player controller going forward instead of using the unity one as it has casued me no end of issues!

Submitted(+1)

I like it! Good game!!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback, am glad you liked it :)

Submitted(+1)

I am not sure how I got past the first room, because I basically ran around randomly until something happened. The lighting in the 2nd room is really hard on the eyes, so I wasn't able to stick with it.

One practical improvement would be tightening up the movement, I found it hard to judge exactly how far I would move when I was moving.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, appreciated!

The first room is a simple lightsout deal.
I will look at the movement as I used the Unity FPS controller, I think in the future I will make my own!

I will also look at the lighting but it does however serve a second purpose but I will take it onboard and see it I can achieve that with a brighter setting!

Again, thanks for taking time to play and feedback!

Submitted(+1)

You basically must select the panels until everyone is gold.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Am I doing it right? I'm not sure.

You are having a lot of fun with the physics, but I was confused about what to do.
I didn't find anymore gold boxes to put in there.

I am tempted to try again.

Developer

Hi yes, there are  2 more blocks hidden...

Submitted(+1)

Good looking game, but I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing, do I run from the red tiles? Do I turn the gold ones red?

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Thanks, the tiles need to be gold... might need to make that clear... a sign maybe that says “The path you seek is paved with gold”?
