I enjoyed this game, it's very original but also very difficult.

great job, im still learning but i can see the effort you and your team put into this and how much thought went in, very impressed

I'm not sure how to say your game name, but I enjoyed playing it! Congrats on finishing your submission.

This is a really unique gameplay loop. The flips felt satisfying, and jumping and dodging around was cool. The scope for this is perfect for a jam game and I think y'all nailed it.

I think the only areas that you might want to improve would be more clarity on the enemy attacks. It was tough to tell where a shot was going to land (maybe add drop shadows?) and how long the blast lasted. Also, enemies scaling in difficulty by number of hits didn't feel super exciting, but it would have been nice to see some sort of hit reaction when they take a non-lethal hit.

Overall, great job everyone. Please keep making games!

Wow, it's so cool to do flips and everything and shooting at the same time. You probably already got the same comments, but the one issue I had was that I had trouble distinguishing what was dangerous and what wasn't. But that's just minor for me because you made a unique, challenging, and fun game!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! There were definitely some improvements to be made.

This made me feel like a bad azz! When you get a double kill in this you feel like a real sharpshooter. You know that scene from Boondock Saints where William Dafoe says "You only see that in movies. No one uses two guns like that!" Well in this game I did! Awesome feel goods from your game. Love to see you develop this idea. I love it!

Thanks for playing! We're glad you enjoyed it!

Challenging and unique !

This was a great idea, an interesting mix of genres - I enjoyed playing it!  Linking the jumping and shooting together gave it a rhythm-game like feel and helps it to stand out.

I didn't spot anything that indicated whether taking a hit would end the game or give you a buff (but that could just be me not noticing it), but other than that I felt it played really well.

Developer (1 edit)

I needed to add in more UI to clarify how that worked.

There are 4 waves, if you die once during a wave you get buffed, die twice on the same wave and you lose the game.

Any time you beat a wave the enemy gets a buff. And you can now die again and receive a buff, instead of losing the game.

Thank you for your feedback.

Played and rated.

I like the jump and shoot animation, it's really badass! I had fun playing with the mechanic, but it was kind of hard to distinguish what is harmful or not. One improvement I could think of is color coding, and being able to more easily know where the ball is going to fall with some shadow or indicator of sorts. The music was a bit low on my side too.

Overall a fun badass concept I enjoyed playing for a while, but that could be improved with better gameplay feedback. Good job! :)

Would appreciate if you check out and rate our game as well: https://hadilepanda.itch.io/rise-of-necromancy

So there's a platform to jump off from (and shot) and for each an enemy that "pairs" with the platform?

Developer (1 edit)

Each time you jump between platforms you fire your weapon.
If you jump left or right, you fire up and down.
If you jump up or down, you fire left or right.
Enemies will always hover between platforms so they can be hit. (They are just nice that way.)

There is a bug where some shots won't hit specific spots (downward jump specifically misses often).

You can still hit those enemies by moving to a new platform and performing the needed jump.

Hope that helps.

This was such a cool mechanic! I've never seen something like this before, so well done. I think maybe some more visual effects like a death effect and a hit effect would be really helpful. But I like the style of the game.

OOoo!! I Enjoyed playing this game! The shooting movement is really refreshing. Backflips and trickshots to defeat your enemies. Hahahah really fun to play XD.

Fun concept and nice visuals.  The main thing that threw me off a bit was that after the enemies got stronger, I sometimes couldn't quite tell if I was hitting them with my shots and just didn't deal enough damage yet to kill them, or if I was just missing.  So a flash or sound effect or something to tell me I hit them would help.  Other than that, the animations and attacks for the player and the enemies worked well I thought.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for the feedback Xendro. A hit indicator would be a really good thing for the game for sure.

P.S (I really enjoyed your game, the buff (shop) system was similar to what I originally wanted for Renascentia.)

Cool game. I didn't quite understand what was doing what though. When I played through it I thought I was supposed to avoid the blue things but I think collecting them gave me a power-up. And then whenever I didn't collect them and the game ended it said that enemies can take more hits. So I was just confused a bit. Making that clear I think would be helpful

Developer

Sadly we did not have the time to create a clean UI that would have helped clear that up. I did my best to clear it up in the games description.

The orbs are deadly, but, once per wave the player can die and get a buff.
After you beat each wave the enemies get a buff.

Great game mechanic with intuitive controls, can get a little repetitive , but it plays really nice!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Yeah, if we were to spend more development time on the game we would need to change some things.

Submitted(+1)

Nice work on the game. I like the no fighting the controls. Clean and simple. Would be cool if you brought in more enemy times in the future. Rock on!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback and for playing! We actually had different enemies, but we had to cut them because of time.

Oh I know how you feel on that!

So many bugs haha =(
