Love the ambiance and the music. The puzzles are intuitive and I like that you can dive in without having a lot of upfront tutorial, or even having to read the instructions. Great graphics!

Developer

Thanks for playing through this :D.

Nice game. The movement was slow and there could've been more complex puzzles. But, the lighting, graphics, and sound effects were amazing.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing through it!

wow, this game's got style! from the font to the textures to the lights and the awesome anubis - super cool style!

Developer

Thanks so much for taking the time to play it, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Awesome!! nuff said.

Developer

Thank you! :D

Oh, I see you had a similar concept for the plot to mine, though realised it a bit differently. Well, I'm afraid I'm not gonna say anything you haven't read yet: the aesthetics are wonderful, both the visual and the audio. The slow movement may be a bit tedious, though I guess you may have opted it for the aesthetic reasons.
I actually played the game yesterday for the first time, but left the review for today, because I couldn't open the second gate (apparently due to a bug, because today I did everything like before and it worked),
Anyway, good job!

Developer

Thank you for playing it twice, I really appreciate you spending the time to do so! The movement really was for aesthetic reasons and I had zero time left to modify it by the end hahah. Going forward I'm definitely going to implement a faster moving mechanic. It's interesting you ran into that bug the first time, as I haven't encountered it, but I'm glad you were able to finish it in the end. Thanks again!

I would have greatly appreciated a run button as the walk speed left me just begging to clear an otherwise spectacular scene. Having any amount of backtracking at all will ruin the pacing if the move speed is that of a slow walk. I wish I didn’t feel this way, as when I first saw the in-game visuals I was generally impressed.

While the gameplay is very light, the presentation here is wonderful. The use of lighting is generally great and I can see that you had some lofty ambitions with this entry. Congrats on getting to the finish line!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for taking the time to play through my game, as well as for the feedback!

This looks awesome and the background sound loop fits quite well.

What it dearly needs is some running option, or at least faster walking. While it might fit for Anubis to walk majestetically, it becomes a bit boring after a while.

The source repo is unfortunately not accessible.

Thanks for playing, I appreciate the time you took to go through it and the feedback! Source repo is back up now.

Amazing looks, love the lighting. Movement did feel a bit slow as others said but it is a good looking game !

Developer

Awesome, thank you for the suggestion and for taking the time to play it!

A very beautiful game. I really like the theme. The sand, the cracked stones and Anubis looks great. Love the SFX. They are simple but they work great! It is impressive that you managed to do so many things all by yourself!

The game feels a bit empty, and the movement a bit slow. If there are more complex puzzles, it will be even better!

Great work! Especially when you did this solo! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing it and I appreciate both the compliments and the suggestions! Taking all these into account for sure as I move forward with this :D.

Nice work, a solid foundation to build on. using the souls as a puzzle element is a nice touch.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing it! I'm going to add many more puzzles :D.

Submitted(+1)

wow, this is awesome.  Love how you used the lights and the pimp walk from Anubis.

I think you can continue to work on this further and see where it takes you!

great job, nicely done!

Developer

Haha that pimp walk tho! I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for taking the time to play it. I'm definitely planning on continuing this.

I also really loved your menu intro.  It is inspiring and makes me think about what I could have done with my game.

May I ask you how you handled the timing/fading?  Was it with animation component, hard coded in scripts, or something else?

Developer

Thank you! I handled it partially with scripts while learning how to use the Unity UI Toolkit, but I don't think it was the most efficient way to do it lol. In hindsight I probably should have just used Canvas which would be easier to implement with the animation system. That's the way to go! lol.

Submitted(+1)

Ah i see, I was thinking there are multiple ways to achieve it and was wondering which way would be more clean/efficient.

thanks for the insight!

Great concept! environment looks great, and I love the way the lights look, the music is great and relaxing, goes with the theme of the game. Really awesome job! :)

Developer(+1)

So happy you enjoyed it, and thanks for taking your time to play my game!

Gorgeous visuals. You’ve put together a beautiful world. I loved the music as well. I liked the look of the main menu lol. Honestly, so polished. My laptops are fairly well powered, the FPS was a bit low but I played in the browser. Fairly certain native MacOS/Windows build would have been a better experience.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you, and I'm glad you enjoyed exploring the world! I actually spent a little too much time on the main menu but meh, I thought it was worth it hahah. Thanks for letting me know about the performance too - I was actually wondering about this because I have easily 5 real-time lights going at a time in a few spots. I'll look into performance now that I have a chance to actually do some testing lol. Thanks again for taking your time to play through my game!

Submitted(+1)

No problem! And I just re-read my comments, it came off a lot more negative than I imagined lol. The FPS wasn’t so low that it was distracting. Noticeable, but it took nothing away from me.

I also saw some commenters complain about the pace of the character. Being faster won’t hurt, but honestly I think the slow walking helped with the vibe. I was really happy with gem, can’t say that enough!

Developer

Nice to hear you actually liked the slow walking - I guess you like to stop and smell the flowers, like me! lol. I didn't find your comment negative at all btw, thanks a lot for playing!

Beautiful. And extremely well made.

Developer

Really appreciate you taking the time to play it!

You really know how to use lighting and take full advantage of 3d models, spectacular job on making the game pure eye candy. Wow on the looks! The game play though I feel needs a bit of work. The game at its base is about movement and the movement was not that fun. The player was slow, no obstacles  to overcome to make the movement interesting. There needed to be an inventory system or some way for us to remove an orb without having to make the slow walk to the center. That being said you have an amazing base and this can easily become something great. Just need to make sure that base experience is fun, the eye candy you can easily do, you are a Master in that area.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for making it through, and I hear ya! I wanted to put in an orb removal system, but I just ran out of time. Movement is something I thought a lot about refining even before I submitted too - this is something that's come up with a lot of people and I totally agree. This will likely be the next step I take before I even build out any more of the world or puzzles. Thank your for the kind words, your time, and your suggestions!

Submitted(+1)

it was looking nice. but i think character was too slow. maybe you can add a run ability by pressing shift or whatever in future. music was really consistent whit the game atmosphere. thanks for game

Developer

Thank you for playing it! I agree, I'm definitely going to improve the movement next.

Nice game, a very good start, showcasing the concept without being too long.

Good work and good luck!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you and thanks for spending the time going through it!

Beautiful visuals, very relaxing music and nice puzzels, had a blast playing this!

Developer

Thanks a lot for spending the time to play it!

Simple, relaxing, pretty on the eyes. It benefits from that implicit tutorial that doesn't require the player to read pages of text. If I had to criticize something I would say that it's just too short; but that's more of a compliment really. Very nice.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the playthrough! I appreciate the fact that you noted the implicit tutorial, as that's really what I was going for. I'd love to keep this theme of teaching the player how to do something by showing instead of writing text or having a tutorial. I'm glad you enjoyed it and much thanks again for spending your time on it!

Very relaxing game and great atmosphere with the music. Great submission!

Developer

Thank you I appreciate it!
