Definitely reminds me of GoldenEye on Nintendo64

Submitted(+2)

Love the look, reminded me of N64 GoldenEye.
Wish i could have moved a bit faster though.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. That was a complaint I received on earlier feedback as well, so I increased the sprint speed but kept the walk speed the same. I'll definitely look into tuning it some more! :)

Submitted(+1)

Great job on the atmosphere of this game. I hated every single second of it. Definitely could do with some more feedback from shooting the enemies.

Developer

Thanks for playing! We'll get to adding more impactful combat soon :D

Had fun exploring and loved the general vibe of the game! Good stuff :)

likes the graphics style. good atmosphere! the notes were great for the story

The aesthetic in this game was great, really felt like one of those horror VHS games. I think the pistol could pack more of the bunch. I did walk through a door and fell out of the map though, I don't know if that was intentional or not but it sucked to make it that far without taking much damage just to have the whole level reset on me. Overall the vibe was great and the game was fun, great entry guys!

Developer(+1)

I am aware others have faced the same issue with the void doors and it's now very high on my list of things to address. I'm sorry it impacted your experience of the game. Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you like the aesthetic :)

super creepy!! i really liked how the low poly graphics contributed to how scary everything was. and having the player piece together the story from items :)

Submitted(+2)

Wow this game as creepy!

I would have wanted more mechanics to the game. But the creepiness was a success!

Making the enemies black in a dark scene was a genius move. Also, the notes made the game a bit scarier!

Well done, wonderful job :)

Very moody, I love the graphics style and it plays well!

I'm not into horror, but your game is really good! It is well made and I can see how much thought and effort you put into it. Congratulations!

Awesome game. Loved the whole experience.

I've got to say this is a very well polished game. It has an eerie atmosphere which I personally prefer and you have done a great job at it. The interactive way of telling the story is good and boy it's scary. When that one AI ran across the screen, I left my mouse. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to the updates if you have planned some.  Although mouse sensitivity could be increased a little bit. Thank you for this submission.

Awesome game! This is really polished for the time constraints.

Feedback: 1) A mouse aim speed option would be nice. It seemed low on the desktop version and high on the web version. I could probably mess with my laptop settings to fix that though. 2) Having some subtle music would really add to the atmosphere, even if the music only played in certain areas. Or, if no music, maybe more variety with the ambient sounds. 3) The enemies could use some sort of 'damage' animation. Right now, you can't tell if you're hurting them until they're dead.

Very solid entry :) Thanks for sharing.

Very nice Aesthetics and Sound work, I enjoyed the shooting mechanic alot. My only wish is to move faster, then it would be perfect! Overall, had fun trying not to get scared lol

Submitted(+1)

Very good ambiance, great work. although I somethings weren't as intuitive and objects seemed random as to why they would open things, after playing for a while I went down some spooky stairs and went through a door and fell (out of the world?) and died, over all though it was a great scary experience, I was very spooked by the person that ran past at the start >.< and found the crawly guys 2 spoopy 5 me so I shot em >:3.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for you review! The objects you collect and the areas in the game had a lot to do with the story, and some of the notes you read hint to what they are, though doesn't explain it entirely. The void doors in the basement were an issue many people have also come across and I'm looking into changing it. Thanks for playing!

(like other people mentioned)I love  the psx/old graphics kind of vibe, very nice ambience :D

Also, I've accidentally found out that i could climb trees xD

Developer(+1)

Lol, I watched someone on stream play it and he climbed trees too xD it was pretty funny and something I'm looking to fix.

😱 Whew! This game is So scary! My heart was racing the entire time.  Sounds are so creepy and shadow people are so freaky!! I just screamed and ran for my life after I had run out of ammo. 😆😆

 Nice game!!

Developer

thanks jiggly!!! i feel the same way ahaha! I'm glad you had fun, and thank you so much for playing our weee little game UwU

Absolute masterclass in minimalism, the old style PS1 feel is nailed down perfectly
The creepy unravelling of the story of the town and the people there, the shadows lurking and following you, notes and the snapshots of the town is great, just enough for you to fill in the blanks yourself!
Would jump at random piano noises again!
The lack of music is actually a fantastic feeling, as you don't want music to signal you are being followed or in danger

The only criticisms I can come up with are nit picks really
From my enjoyment of the survival horror type game, I would personally prefer if your gun could fire a bit faster, I understand the thought process that slower firing means the monsters are more of a threat, but personally i like to be able to unload all my ammo into a wall because I panicked and missed!

I think it would be nice if the shadows had a walking sound on them, as that would racket up the tension in a way music would kill.  Also, the walking on grass sound effect from the player did get a little grating after a while

Developer(+1)

Thank you for this great review. Yes, we do need a lot of tuning to be done not just with sound but other gameplay elements. I also think the firing rate of the gun could be increased a little bit, as that did start to annoy me after playtesting it hundreds of times xD  I really wanted to flesh out the monsters a little more, give them more uncanny animations and sounds, but that will have to wait for now. Again, thanks, and I deeply appreciate your feedback.

This game has made me feel that at every point i was gonna poop myself. The opportunity was there but it didn't happen. Is that a good or bad thing ? It's for you to exploit I guess.

The note messages were very well done. It adds to the atmosphere I am about to experience at every point.

I think with more sound effects, tension bgm eg; when the enemy appears  it will probably take it to the next level..

Developer(+1)

Thanks for reviewing! I guess I was against the idea of using too many jumpscares. I agree with you about the sound. I made some tracks myself but felt they weren't good enough to make it to this release. I will be adding more sounds and music in the future, for sure. Your game has awesome sound btw! :)

Loved the art style - plus it ran fine on my aging PC :) I was going to moan about falling off by wandering into one of the dark rooms in the tomb / police station. But then I put my big boy pants on and realised a) that was a dumb thing to do, b) fits the story nicely and c) got back there in no time.

Really impressive game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing :D Originally I wanted to have the rooms be explorable, with different set pieces inside each. Running low on time, I decided to just put kill triggers in there when you fall xD Maybe in the future I can look into that and potentially expand the map and adjust some things
