An interesting concept. Good job.

This reminds me of a game I played called The Typing of the Dead. I used that to train myself to touch type. This is a very cool game. My only beef is with using the arrow keys to move around the grid. I get what you were going for, and I'm not sure if there is really a better way to do it, but quickly switching between the arrow keys and the keyboard caused me some grief. Otherwise, I loved it!

Developer

Thanks! Alternative keybinds were suggested a lot so I added (shift+)tab/enter (like Excel) for moving around.

Great game! Definitely has a great gameplay loop. Hp was a bit confusing. And I didn't quite understand what some of the "buffs" did. Really good job, keep it up!

Developer(+1)

The adjectives don't currently do anything, and the characters are your HP. (you heal yourself and damage enemies as you type)

Meet someone named GunnarRartralala and got slapped like a pussy! Fun typing game; I liked it!

nice funny game, i really like the concept. I didn't know, what I must do, how I can type, but I'm also a type, who don't read. But as I knew what i had to do, it was fun. But for me was the gameplay too long and I stopped at level the beginning of level 11

Great concept, though my only critic would be the case sensitivity!

My hideous dyslexia meant I couldn't get very far!

Very cool, unfortunately I am not great at speed typing so I got slaughtered a lot :)

Developer

I've just released the game in full yesterday, with many new mechanics and improved graphics/sound. There are 3 different difficulties now, so I'm sure you'll find one that's right for you. The UI has also been overhauled to improve clarity. I'm sure you'll enjoy the new version a lot, so feel free to try it out!

Ha! Thats something else. I like it! To be honest, i think there is much potential to unleash. It could be a little bit hard to balance, but I enjoyed it and it`s refreshing and new :)

This one is certainly unique.
Can be also a good practice of typing speed.

Nice! Proper names got me in the end, lol. Very unique, well done!

What a unique concept! I think this is my favorite so far. It's like Mavis Beacon meets old school text adventure. :) I hope you develop it more. You may want to add difficulty levels, because I'm a fairly fast/accurate typist and I still found it really challenging. I made it to the final floor though! Great work. :)

Developer

Thanks for the comment, I've lowered the difficulty slightly in a QoL update. You can still download the jam version btw.

What a fun, unique game!  I liked the balance of deciding whether to keep exploring and looking for the green cells, fighting simple enemies to gain characters, or just trying to beeline for the stairs.  Certain levels really felt like I was exploring a dungeon in an RPG trying to avoid random encounters!  Echoing other reviewers, I found the dropped inputs a bit frustrating, and I wish the next pressed key wouldn't automatically skip over the game over screen, but overall this was a super creative and fun game!  (Also, BOB THE SCREAMER was too tough a miniboss for me!)

Exciting music! Too bad I suck at typing fast, haha! Interesting game for sure.

This is a great concept! Really fun typing game and executed well, but it sometimes does not register what I’m typing. Still, good job!

I really liked it, I see myself as a quick writer and I got to like level 15 (I think), but the problem was that when I died, I was already pressing a button, so it skipped over my score text and went to mainmenu, I must have on that moment pressed a button that took me there, so that was a bit anticlimatic :(

Great idea and Gunnar Gunnarsson AND BOB THE BUILDER can go F themselves :D Almost took me out both of the, since I wasn't ready to such a long and different text.

Great concept. Wish i could see my health tho

Developer

The "characters" indicator on the bottom right is your health. The game is a bit unclear about that though so I'll make it more explicit.

I am a slow typer so it was a rough ride for me, but I did enjoy my time playing. It felt nice and smooth and wasn't too difficult to figure out what was going on. I had a good time.

Really fun game!! I love the attention to detail with the motion blur and the animations for the insertion line... Sadly I died at the "something something, Son of Gunna" phrase. It would be nice if there is realistic typing and excel sound effect. Overall, cool game. Super unique and original!! I think it'll be cool to be made into multiplayer for people to compete in the future.

pretty good concept, it's pretty frantic.  Since it's a spreadsheet game, I kept trying to use tab and alt-tab to go to the next and previous columns, maybe you should consider allowing those keys as controls for us Excel people. Other than that, a volume control for the music might be nice. Overall great game though

Great game! Not only is it fun but it helps me get better at faster typing too!
