I like the aethetics and the click sound from the armor, though the goal of the game is kindof ambigous, but you have done a good job in your first jam, cheers!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. The thing with the goal I get a lot - I plan on extending with feedback and aids. I since then have extended the description and added a fast speed run video to showcase the full level :-)

Really enjoyed this game! Beyond impressive that this was your first game jam! Loved the Lego character it added a really cool feel to the game. Very excited to see what you do with this game.

Developer

Thank you! I am excited to see what I will do as well :-P

The animations are great! I would recommend speeding up the climbing, as some walls take upwards of 15 seconds to climb all the way up. Or scale down the maze a bit. Cool entry!

Developer

Thank you. Yes, I had comments on the speed, I will speed it up a little on an update after the jam rating ends.

I really liked the player movement in this game.  SFX were on point and had a nice story to it.  great submission!  I enjoyed the old school feel to it too

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I tried!

Submitted(+1)

The game is interesting. I loved it when I realized I could dangle-crawl on the ceiling. The game has some nice movement that fits it very well. Great Job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. Yeah moving on the ceiling is weird, but people seem to enjoy it :-)

gives me strong 1989 prince of persia vibes! the maze was brutal though. I wandered around for what felt like hours, then fell to my death (when I was trying the cool catch-the-wall-shortly-before-the-floor-quick-descent-technique). and how did you get a lego figurines inside your game?
unique entry though!

Developer

Prince of Persia? Wow, now that is a comparison I never expected to hear. Thank you! It was actually the first game I ever played, I believe. I admit that I did have it in mind, and Flashback of course, and thought that my character should be as cool as possible as it is the main thing the players see all the time. You think the maze is difficult?.. Hmm, food for thought. I might include aids in the future.

The lego? I built the character in Bricklink Studio (2.0), copied it around and changed the stance and after rendering the model into an image, I manually edited it to place each frame into the correct position. A tedious process, but I am trying to learn Blender to create a model instead (for my lego pirate game). I invested in it, to make it as cool as possible. Though for some animations cut frames to make it on time.

E.g. Attack animation. From this model:

The climbing was really neat! Great work on that. Some way to keep track of the remaining "correct" potions would be a great addition, it gets confusing with the healing ones.

Thank you. I am planning to add visual and audio feedback. You can see what you have collected in the pause menu if you hit the "goal hint" button. Hmm, many people miss that. It is too obfuscated then.

Submitted(+1)

Yea, I also think it could be a bit faster but overall well done.

Developer

Thank you. Faster huh? Hmm... Ok, I'll see what I can do, after the jam ends!

Great work on the sound and animations. Wall climbing was cool, didn't know I could do that for the longest time. The game felt a little slow and I wished my character was faster. I found three potions and returned back to the beginning only to realize that I must have not collected the right colors or something so I quit. Great work on your first jam though definitely a great game for your first!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you. The dark pink potions were healing potions... You needed the other three to open the chamber for the sword (somewhere in the middle) then you you could get out! :-) I have updated the description. The updated version after the jam will contain visual and audio hints as well.

Submitted(+2)

I like the art side a lot.  Couldn't find what the goal was. And why was I able to walk on the ceiling (like upside-down) that was fun though. Other than that I liked the game. It was fun.

Developer

Thank you. I updated the description this morning (well about 12 hours ago) to give goal hints because, yes, for a rushed playing for 1K entries, no time to search around. :-)

Submitted(+2)

Great concept and art. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'll work on it to make it better.

Fun game. I did have a couple of issues. if i had the game full screen and hit escape it exited out of full screen not sure if  you intended it that way. if i was in just the webpage and not full screen using either alt to attack would pause the game but in full screen it worked fine. It could be something with my browser.  I got the character glitched into a climbing animation facing the camera and couldn't get out of it unless I died.  But it was fun I enjoyed the Lego dungeon vibe kind of made me thing of Spelunky meets Legos.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you. The collider glitch is something that happens sometimes. Is a known bug, I'll work on it more after this. Hitting the escape when in browser full screen going back normal, I guess is the functionality of the embedded player of the site. The alt I guess opens the browser menu, and that is why it pauses. It goes "out of the game". Hmm, things to consider for browser.

I loved the eerie vibe and the Lego knight and skeletons. The animations looked good as well. I think you should provide an option to turn off auto- jump on the ledges tho ,  other than that good job.

Developer

Thank you. I understand, yes I'll see what I can do about this :-)

Submitted(+1)

Hmm, I like the atmosphere and the climbing mechanic, but I didn't really understand what my goal is. I found potions of different colors, but I couldn't track how many I have and where I need to go with them.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you. Hm, there is a goal hint in the pause menu; if you get potions they light up to show which ones you have. If you get the three potions (green/green-yellow/glue) (the pink ones are healing; the others have no effect, maybe I should add something) then the chamber opens for you to get the sword! Maybe I should add a "dialogue" the first time you come across the scribble at the beginning ;-) And maybe also each time you get a "relevant" potion (like got one, two to go, or something). Nice, I will improve it!

The game design was werid in fisrt then i got the mwaning of it.It's great for a spider knight.Overall great idea, concept and game.

Developer

Thank you :-)

Submitted(+1)

Felt like spider knight ;) Nice game

Developer

Thank you. My wife said the same and found it really weird :-P

Submitted(+1)

I liked how you climbed the walls and crawled on the ceiling.

Developer(+1)

Thank you. It is a bit weird to do all that donned in armour, as it is obvious, but I liked it too ;-)  I will add more graphics at some point to hint ladders and handles, so no one complains!

Submitted(+1)

Good effort, movement felt a bit not in place (can't explain it better) but I liked the idea and the feeling when walking in the dungeons (sfx/music). Also the animations when falling down a long way was fun :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I might understand what you mean, I will try to improve it in a future release. Some animations were "cut-short" due to lack of time, (render in Bricklink studio, edit with photoshop for details, put them in place.), but it was fun and I would like to enrich them with a couple more frames.

(+1)

Great effort, bravo!

Still needs work to add enemies, more items etc...

Keep going

Developer

Thank you. Will definitely do.  It is planned for the future.
