Wow what a fantastic idea! Closing your eyes and focusing on sounds is so interesting! It was well done too, highly rated!

Developer

I'm happy you like it! Your game had such a relaxing vibe to it. Would love to see a full game post-jam.

Nice work with the puzzles! I liked the detail of the art as well to tell a story. I should have taken your advice for playing on the executable the first time, I ended up pressing ctrl to crouch, then w and it closed my tab lol. Well, I gave it another shot so I could get through. Well done!

Developer

Thank you! I appreciate that people liked the art. I usually don't do 2D stuff, mainly because I'm bad at it. Oh thanks for pointing out the crouch issue, it's a toggle button so you don't have to hold ctrl, just press it once. But yeah, I recommend the executable, it has nicer visuals too.

Submitted(+1)

Ah yeah, I figured out the toggle on my second go around, so all good!

Absolutely amazing game and execution! Loved the use of different senses and the different way to see. I really like puzzle games and this was very well done! only problem I had were that when jumping from one moving platform to another, sometimes their timings didn't add up, so had to wait for them to do that to be able to jump. And also when jumping to the second platform, it gets so dark that I have no idea when to jump to the place with the light bowl, so it was a bit of trial and error to get there. But other than that, super great game and a fantastic idea and use of the theme!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The timing of the second platform is a bit tricky, but the bowl emits light, and once the platform stops it emits a soundwave, so you just need to switch your senses more.

I left you a comment on your game. I couldn't get the drone to move, let me know if I missed something. I'll replay it and give you a rating afterward.

Played to the end. I really like the tranquil atmosphere you created. The visual effects for sound were neat and some of the art like the murals were really cool and mysterious. Puzzles were simple but fun. Good job!

Developer

I'm happy you like it! I've enjoyed your game just the same.

Submitted(+1)

This is a great entry. Terrific visual style, wonderful interpretation of the theme, incredible murals, engaging puzzles, and you are solo? What? You've earned a follow, excited to see where your career takes you.

Developer(+1)

Haha thank you! I actually need to try jamming with a team for once, seems fun.

Submitted(+1)

I have jammed both alone and with others. I think I've come to slightly enjoy working alone more for the creative freedom it offers, plus I don't have to worry about disappointing anyone. That being said, seeing the project advance by leaps and bounds while you're not even looking, and incorporating the best ideas from others, that's all incredibly motivating.

I'm on the lookout for new collaboraters . I've only got 1-3 hours a day to devote to game development, but if there's weeklong jam or something you want to fiddle on together, I'll drop a DM on your Discord so you can keep in touch.

Submitted(+1)

I love your option menu. Sensitibity is something I don't know how to do in my games

Great mechanics, The best so far. The fact that the 2 dimension were 2 senses is the best idea.

I think the effect of moving camera is too strong.
Good Job!

Developer(+1)

It's just using a Slider component with a function attached to the value changed event, and the function stores the sensitivity for later use. It's always good to add to your game, as people prefer different values.

Thank you for the comment and feedback!

Submitted(+1)

This was amazingly done, I loved the use of Echolocation and the visuals to represent it. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks. You've got a great game yourself!

Submitted(+1)

That polish tho~~~! Awesome game :). All 5 stars! I love that I can tweak my sound and mouse sensitivity settings. It's the first thing I look for :)
Everything is polished from the ui, to the gameplay, to the sound. Awesome interpretation of theme!
Sound and light dimension mechanics was mind-blowing. I got chills the first time I used sonar.
And was pleasantly delighted that when there was no sound... there was also nothing going on in sonar mode. I was MIND BLOWN again XD.
Great game man!!!

Developer(+1)

Oh wow, thank you so much for the comment! This made me smile from ear to ear :D I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Your game was cool too and it has a lot of potential, I'll definitely keep an eye on future updates.

Submitted(+1)

You are so kind! Thank you so much ^w^. Yes we are still working on some bug fixes too :) .

Submitted(+1)

Linux version might not be working. I looked at the game's screenshots and it seems the "sound dimension" is not working for me, at least not in Linux. Reading the comments, though, it seems like it's a very cool game!

Developer(+1)

Oh no! I don't have a Linux system on hand but I assumed it worked the same as Windows. I'll look into it tomorrow and I'll let you know. Thanks for the comment!

Submitted(+1)

To be more specific, what happens is that the screen goes all black when you press the "F" key (or Y on the controller). From the screenshots, it seems it would have this cool effect with outlines and whatnot, but in my end it's all black.

If useful:

GPU: Radeon 6950 XT
Tested on: 1400p monitor
Distro: Arch Linux
Driver: Open source RADV driver

Developer

Yeah I know, the same happens with WebGL builds (hence why I don't have one), for some reason it doesn't pick up on my custom shader. I'll see what I can do!

Developer

I'm like 90% sure the Linux build is fixed, but just in case I also got the shader to work on a WebGL version. Let me know what you think!

Submitted(+1)

Oh, this is a brilliant interpretation of the theme

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I had fun playing your game.

Submitted(+1)

Beautiful graphics and the mechanic was super unique. I really liked how if you deactivated certain switches, gears wouldn't be making noise enough to see in the sound realm. Overall really well put together and so far one of my favorites of the jam.

Developer

Wow, I'm glad you liked it! Your game is super cool too, one of the top entries for sure.

Submitted(+1)

Really great graphics and unique idea!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you liked it! Your game was one of my favorites. I suggest you turn it into a mobile game after the jam.

Submitted(+1)

Very well done! Even though I spend most of my time in the sound dimension^^
The sound and artstyle are already rly nice if you continue after the jam you should focus on the movement (I felt a little out of control) and rework the stairs I had to jump them up diagonaly because I couldn't just walk on them... and in level three after you turned of the first platform you basically have to do that in the dark except if I missed something

Developer (2 edits)

It warms my heart to get such comments! There is always a way to "see" where you're going, platforms emit a wave when stopping and there should be some light on the stairs too on that part. Btw, I just put a hotfix for the character controller. Movement should be way better now. I would love some feedback on it, hopefully I didn't break anything else :D

Submitted(+1)

What a fantastic puzzle game. I thought they were really well done. The sound pinging was really cool and I liked that you actually had to switch between the sound and visual. Very cool! I think the movement was a little too difficult. I would've liked to be able to move in the air. Like just walking up the steps on that last level was really difficult because I just kept running into a step and then jumping and not being able to move. But that's the only complaint. Really well done :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! It's really nice to hear people liked the visuals and sound system. I'll make a quick update to enable some air movement, it'll fix most of the problems but the controller is definitely in need of some rework later on.

Submitted(+1)

Brilliant idea! And the art on the walls was a nice addition!.

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the concept and art :D

Submitted(+1)

It is very good. I love the concept and you executed it very well! The game overall looks very pretty and SOUNDS pretty, which, I would say, is very important for a game about echolocation. It's so good!

I would say, the platforming is a little difficult and you have to restart a bunch of things a lot. But it's so good, well done for doing this on your own!

The murals look so cool too.

Developer

Thank you! I love that you liked the look and sound of the game. Oh and nice to get some feedback on the murals, I'm a noob when it comes to 2d art so I was worried it looked out of place!

Submitted(+1)

It looks great. It gives lots of mystery and made me want to learn about the world in the game. Loved that they had the style of old murals but looked techy.

Submitted(+1)

You have a really pretty effect with the sounds and swapping. The platforming is a little tricky. I sometimes could not leap on to a plat form- it would take multiple tries and I'm not sure what was getting in the way. Some great work to put this all together and a nice take on the theme.

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks! The majority of my time was spent making those effects so it's good to hear it looks and sounds good. I tried making the jumps a little bit tricky, mostly by disabling air movement and playing around with timing but it should still be doable. If I hadn't, the game would be too easy imo. I think what maybe feels off is the dimension of everything compared to the player, but that's a bit late to fix now.

Submitted(+1)

impressive implementation of the theme. your sound/outline shader looks awesome with the world you created. I wish I wouldn't use the sense-switching-mechanics to solve jumping puzzles, but the potential for greatness is there. if you decide to do something with the concept, you should definitely give VR a thought.

Developer

Not as impressive as yours! Thank you so much for trying my game, yours was lovely. I completely agree with you, it almost feels like a waste to use my shader on just platforming, but I'm not really a creative guy xD. VR would be awesome, and I don't know a thing about it so that can be an exciting project for me. I am thinking of pushing this shader along with a short tutorial to a git repo, I feel like people would use it infinitely better than me.

Submitted(+1)

Amazing game, loved the aesthetics and mechanics!
(+1 for the a bit floating navigation, but still really fun)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Loved your game as well. I'm excited to see what your finished version will look like!

Submitted(+1)

Thanks a lot! We will keep an eye on each other and improve our games, this is my first jam and i'm really loving the vibes

Submitted(+1)

Great Game. Loved the mechanic and visuals. Controls kinda float-y, had some challenges navigating some stairs.

Developer

Thanks a bunch for trying my game! I left you a comment on yours as well. I think you're right about the floatiness, I'll try making the movement more snappy.
