waaaaaah! logic game! my fav genre!! Why did you do this??? need to play all the time - thanks!

:-) very well done!

Developer (1 edit)

Hahaha I'm glad that you've enjoyed playing it! The reason... well, i always add some kind of challenge to myself on top of the jam rules, like doing a genre i've never done before, in this case a puzzle game.

Thank you for playing Un-LIT! Cheers :D

Game looks and plays great! Haven't enjoyed a puzzle game in a while!
I'm looking forward to the other levels once the jam is over! :D

Developer (1 edit)

I'll follow the feedback received and I'll test a few things that i had in mind as well, I don't want the levels to feel too repetitive.
Thanks for playing Un-LIT, i'm glad that you've enjoyed it, cheers ;)

Great game! Took me a while to get it haha, guess I'm not trained for puzzle games lol. Definitely 5 star game love it :)

Developer

Don't worry I've built it so it was the kind of game that's easy to pick up, yet hard to master (that was my aim at least).
Resetting a level won't punish you since it basically restarts the level and starts from 0 the moves counter.

Thank you for playing my game, Un-LIT! Cheers :D

Very cool game! I like the aestetic, the mechanics are interesting, and the puzzles are quite brain-stimulating.

Overall great concept and execution!

Developer

I was worried that It'd look too plain, and then thought about the lights/emissive theme for it. Wanted the puzzle to be the main (or only) focus for the player, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Thank you for playing Un-LIT, appreciated! :D

Great game, love the visuals, hate the pain I had tryna solve it hahaha. Couldn't beat one level but will definitely try again. Excellent work. Love it

Developer

Thank you so much! I've tried my best to make it as fair as i could, so restarting a level won't punish you and the attempts will be reset to 0.
It's all about finding the correct pattern, in fact for level 4 someone beat what i thought was the minimum score! LOL

Thanks for checking out Un-LIT, cheers :D

This is a fantastic idea. Great puzzle design, and it looks great! Amazing job on this!

Developer

It makes me super happy that you've enjoyed playing it, I've done for a minimalist design that kind of stood out, but I was worried that i might've done it to... simple? The feedback i'm receiving is awesome, I'll make sure to add more levels when the Jam ends, and i'll consider turing it into a fully-fledged game.

Thank you for  playing my game, Un-LIT! :D

This is relatively challenging for the ones I can do in a puzzle game, but it's definitely a creative idea and I hope this idea develops further :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! The aim was to not make it too hard, but maybe harder to get a perfect score, so everyone could play it. I also didn't want it to feel punishing if you failed, so those on top of being easy to pick up were my main focus areas. I don't have experience making puzzle games, and i use jams specially for that, to test genres or types of games that I didn't do before.

Thanks for playing Un-LIT! ;)

Nice idea, was very satisfying to complete each level. If you wanted to make the levels more challenging, making some asymmetrical could add more depth, as the current ones are solved with the same pattern on each side. Well done regardless!

Developer

That's a really good idea, i'll make sure to try that when i'm doing more levels.
Mirroring them worked for the jam because kept the design somewhat simple and still visually appealing, but i totally understand what you mean, thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you for giving Un-LIT a try! :D

It's a really challenging but fun puzzle game concept (could be skill issue from me tbh XD)

I love how simple the mechanics are & the complexity of the puzzles, Completed level 4 with 9 moves somehow, great job please continue this!

Developer(+1)

Hello, don't worry about it, also, what? I legitimately thought 10 was the minimum for that level. Someone already beat me at my own game!?
Hahaha, jokes aside, great job there!

Thanks for trying my game and rest assured, I will (though it may take a while). Cheers ;)

This is a nice game, I could definitely see it working as a fully developed mobile puzzle game. Good luck taking it further!

Developer(+1)

Hello, for now my objective is to get the levels to a total of 10, tutorial aside. After that i'll get to work and see how can i make more levels without them feeling repetitive, maybe even introduce new mechanics.
Thanks for playing my little game, Un-LIT! ;)

Submitted(+1)

I think you have a really nice concept! Keep it on!

Developer

I'm seriously considering making it into a full game, the first thing will be to at least get it to a total of 10 levels without counting the introduction one (maybe more), but that will have to wait until the jam is over.
Thank you for checking out Un-LIT! :D

Developer(+2)

To everyone reading this:
I'm seriously considering taking this game further and turning it into a full game, and Yes, it will be free to play here. However, if I publish it in example on Steam or Google play for mobile, I'll have to make it a paid version to cover the publishing costs.

Seriously, I can't thank you enough for the feedback. Keep it Un-Lit! ;)

I think all this needs is more levels. And maybe some way to select a level for playing again and improving your number of moves.

Developer

First of all, thank you for trying out my small game, I'm so happy that You liked it!
I got the suggestion of turning it into a full game, and I'm strongly considering that given everyone's feedback. Nonetheless the original idea was to make at least 10 levels or so, so after the jam i'll try to do a patch and add some extra levels. I'll try to keep them fresh but it may take me a while, as testing and figuring out the puzzle design for some can be a bit tough.

Thanks again for playing Un-LIT and for the feedback, this is what I love about making games. ;)

Proper puzzler this one :).
Really nice aesthetic to it as well.
Great feel and quick concept to pick up, tricky to master :)

Developer(+1)

I feel like if If i didn't add the tutorial one, It would've not been the same. I was worried that it had too many texts so i made the level short, yet a place where you could click and discover all the mechanics. I was worried that it could still be a bit confusing, but I'm glad that it worked as intended.

Thank you for playing Un-LIT! ;)

Pardon me for not replying to everyone, but i'll make sure to do so tomorrow. Recovering from a cold that i caught on the weekend so i'll be back to sleep. For now, I just want to say thank you to everyone for playing my game, and I'll make sure to play and rate every single one of your projects. This made my day.

Thank you and remember... keep it Un-LIT! ;)

Absolutely addicting gameplay, a simple yet eye-catching look and a bopping track! A stunning game, amazing work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, I kept second guessing myself and i was about to add sound effects, but i was worreid that it'd break the game feel specially when multiple lights triggered at once, so i kept that out of it, and i think that was the right choice, given the feedback from you guys.

Thank you so much for playing my little game, I'm so happy that you liked it!
And remember... keep it Un-LIT! ;)

As I said on the discord, this is a lovely game! The glowy lights are a simple but effective way to make your game look pretty, and I think all the puzzles are creative and well-crafted (I played through all the levels, I like the two more you added). You also chose a very nice music track for this style of gameplay. Great work! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I honestly can put into words what I'm feeling right now because It worried that I could've made it too difficult, specially the last levels. It is really hard to make a fair puzzle and I knew what I was getting into, as it was sort of my personal challenge for the game jam, to do a genre that i've never done before in a tight time constraint.

I'm really happy that you like it and thank you once again, knowing how long it took allowed me to adjust things further :D
Usually for game jams i don't spam that much to look for feedback, but this genre of game makes it kind of a "must do", to gauge how hard it really is, and adjust things accordingly.

Keep it Un-LIT! Cheers ;)

I played your game on my youtube and if you want to check it out you can at the link here. This game is ridiculously good. I could play this for ages, the atmosphere and vibe is perfect, looks amazing and you did a great job explaining how to play to the user without making it super boring in your face heres exactly how you play. Making a good tutorial is hard and you nailed it. Well done.

Developer

Thanks for trying it out and recording it, I'm glad that you liked as it was my first game of this genre.
Usually i tend to overscope things but for this jam i wanted to do a game that i could finish in about five days from start to finish, and as you mentioned, my main focus was that it was casual, ao it wouldn't feel punishing. When I saw you playing it It was as I've meant it to be., and I was literally rooting for you, it was really fun.

For now, resetting a level restarts the movements as well, as if you started from scratch. Felt that keeping them would make it kind of punishing but if you read this please let me know your thoughts about that. As per your suggestion, I'm strongly considering to make this into a full game, though it might take me a while.

Cheers, and thank you for playing Un-LIT! :D

i think resetting makes sense there, its tricky with puzzle games and balance like that. Even on mine I struggled going back and forth between the idea of health for the base resetting each level or persisting through the game. I ended up going with a middle ground that each level you would recover a percentage of health. Nice I hope you do make it, would be really fun.

Developer

Thank you, I think I will, it'll just take me some time due to getting back to study this year.
Can't promise it for sure, but for now what i can promise is that i'll do one update with three more levels at least, so it is 10 levels plus the tutorial, so a total of 11.

Again, thanks for your feedback, I will do my very best for future updates to be as fun, or even more fun than it currently is :)

Very chill and relaxing game! Great music and addicting gameplay!

Developer

Thank you! I've loved making it and I'm glad that you liked it!
