Cozy, quick, games -- please post here!

Hi all!

I'm looking for games that are cozy and quick to get through to rate as many as I can in one day.  I want to get to as many as possible but I'm currently only sitting at a sad 14 ratings for folks.  If you made a quicker game like I did, https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2024/rate/2745346, please post them here so we can find the games we can all get through quickly to get as many ratings out there as possible for others! Let's work as a team to get this done!

Have a great day gaming!

I don't think mine matches your criteria exactly, but it's definitely cozier than a bullethell or tower defense etc.. If it's not what you're looking for, that's perfectly fine =)

1. I doubt there is a shorter game submission..

2. It's cosy if you're unreal engine dev...馃

P.S. I am already prepared to be kicked out of the jam for lack of content, tbh.

Awww no! I'm sure your game is great too! I'll play it and have fun a little later today. 鈽猴笍 I made a picture book ultimately, lol, so I was just more looking to see if anyone else made any visual novels or maybe like mobile friendly games so I can play some on my phone. I feel bad that there's like 1000 submissions and I've only gotten to like 14. So, I get you though lol 馃ぃ  more people went for a bit more advanced looks and dynamics! This was so much fun though. How many jams have you done? This was my first. 馃檪

haha, thanks a lot but nope! it is objectively too rudimentary to be called a game. I posted a video on the game page, it shows all that is in "v1" file, it is only for Windows.

I guess it also depends on what engine/tool used. I used Unreal Engine. Doing the same project from the ground up would be technically more complex using something else. I used all the standard included tools and zero code (i use blueprints, Unreal's visual scripting).

That was my first jam too :)

Submitted(+1)

Well using unreal engine is unreal for most lol so I 100% applaud the effort and concepts and such if nothing else lol!! It may not qualify for the jam, but it's a great first start for anyone doing any kind of development.  I looked at that engine and said probably never so I give you so much credit! yay for first timers!!

Submitted (1 edit)

I wouldn't say Unreal Engine is unreal to use, I think it is just very overwhelming to get into. Other options (Unity, Godot, etc) have more linear educational route, imo. There are many educational options for mid-level and professionals, but newbie hobbyist resources are all over the place and made by hobbyists.

UE is very powerful and seems to offer a lot of freebies for something that you'd have to buy with Unity etc. I've made a choice very long time ago mostly due to free access and realism quality. Doing 2d games is still better with something else entirely. Unreal Engine is built by those that use it to make AAA games, so they constantly update the engine for their own benefit, so it is a safe bet for me.

I would suggest to try and explore it more, look at State of Unreal presentation videos for inspiration... I think it offers both a good career route and fully fledged tool for solo indie. It just takes a lot of time to figure it out at initial stages and what exactly to concentrate on.

Thank you regardless, congrats on your first as well :)

I checked your title, nice visuals. I'm going to vote on it later, after I play it fully.

As for feedback, nothing that hasn't already been said.  I just started developing --- probably about a month into my journey learning engines so this was my first jam and so my advice would be to keep on keep on because it's a great start and unreal is impressive in itself! Keep on your journey :)

That's great! I hope you continue to build awesome games in upcoming jams as well :D
