Cool game! The minimap is super useful and the upgrades are nice and I'd even say essential to get, i agree with others who said that the first level was a bit too hard, not because it's hard to dodge but because of the rate of shooting since you can't keep up with the amount of enemies spawning. Which lead me to find that with one bullet i could hit more than one enemy at once, it helped a bit but i wasn't sure if it was a intended behaviour for the projectile.

Cheers ;)

You're welcome! Good luck! :D

I got to wave 13 in the final level before I was overwhelmed!

The upgrade system is nice, I wish that I could keep my upgrades from one level to the next. The graphics are simple and clean, the sound effects are well suited to a space battle.

Enemy variety is nice, however every enemy and every fight played out the same for me, I'd circle left or right while firing and waiting for my missiles to recharge to take out most ships (or one strong ship) with that.

The game should pause when the upgrade menu appears, so that the player can make their choice without also being shot at. Sometimes I'd gain more than one level at a time and this would cause the menu to glitch out a bit, showing one set of rewards, then replacing them with others.

I enjoyed the game! Great work on bulding the minmap and a nice looking UI! It looks quite polished no bugs so far. What would make it a bit more fun in quick win way is to have some small random rotation when you shoot and as you gain levels you become more precise. Regardless great fun and great job!

Super fun! When I hit laser speed 2.0, I laughed so hard that I died :D  A couple of pieces of feedback (which I'm giving only because I liked the game so much, and you've said you plan to keep developing):

  • If you kill a bunch of enemies all at once, you might level up multiple times simultaneously which leads to weirdness when picking your level up.
  • You can kind of trivialize a bit of the combat by circling the enemies' spawn point.  They stay grouped together, and you just barrage them all over time.  Might be a good addition to have a few spawn points around the map, and the enemies randomly choose one offscreen to spawn at.
  • You may want to pause the action when presenting the level up choices, because it can feel hectic with things still going on in the background.

Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thank you! <3 Think about having 2.0 laser speed + max move speed :D It could've been interesting :) I have added your feedback to my list for future improvements. ^^ Special thanks for the feedback and for reading my note <3

Simple but fun game! The best aspect about the game is the rockets, the cooldown makes it precious and places pressure on you to aim, but landing the hit is so so satisfying with the impact, the damage, sfx and particlesFX.

Not sure if it was intended that the game would go on during upgrade stage, but i felt pausing the game would be a more QOL option. But having it not pause also adds to the tension of the game.

Music was on theme and fit the space theme!

Overall, solid game!

Fun, great looking game, good job! It was a bit too hard for me lol, I couldn't get very far after several tries.

Thanks ! ^^

Fun game, good clean graphics and like the mini-map. I'd recommend lowering the difficulty at the start, you don't want to put players off with a steep learning curve. Might also think about adding some physics to the movement in any future development. Well done!

Wow I had so much fun playing your game!

I was impressed by all the visual polish you were able to complete as a solo dev in the time constraints of the jam. Some of the highlights for me were the mini map in the top left (first game I've played in the jam that implemented that), the particle effect explosion of the enemy ships upon destruction and the rocket reload meter in the bottom left. All of those little things add up to make the game just much more readable than if they weren't there.

I loved the rocket launcher especially how powerful it was on the red ships but the long reload time kept it balanced. I found myself taking extra caution when lining up my rocket shot because I knew it was going to be a while before I could get another one off haha.

As far as feedback for improvement since you mentioned in your game page you will continue developing (which I strongly encourage it's a great project) I will add that I accidentally clicked an upgrade when it popped up because I was madly trying to take down some enemy ships. As skykone suggested pausing the gameplay during upgrade selection and creating a very small time window where clicking would not select the upgrade could avoid unintended upgrade selections.

Keep up the great work and really enjoyed your game!

Thank you! <3 I almost couldn't finish the game for the jam. It could've been a huge disappointment, but I handled it :) I have added your feedback to my list for future improvements. Thank you a lot! ^^

EXCELLENT. I tend not to like these kinds of games for some reason, shows how well you did on this one, something about this specific game I just really liked.

Some minor improvement suggestions could be:

When upgrading, I took it for now  as part of the challenge to just continue playing while the upgrade options were shown and while selecting the upgrade even while it wasn't possible to see the game, but my guess is that's not how you intended it. Probably the main part of the  game should pause or stop while the upgrade is being selected, then resume when you are done selecting it.

Multiple upgrades are possible all at once especially if I use the one shot weapon to destroy lots of enemies at once. If you implement the above idea, keep in mind that it's possible for multiple upgrades to happen at once. By the way, I notice it's working pretty well already. After selecting one, the ones that also showed up at same time are then possible to pick as well. I was doing this while also continuing the game since the game does continue in the background currently, so I must still play even without being able to see what's going on (and, well....I did).

There's probably more, but these would be more detailed kinds of things, and I think this is enough for now.

Just overall, really nice job on this game!

It feels like a solid foundation! the game could benefit from more sound effects and less time between waves, balacing also was kinda rough but overall its fun

Liked the game a lot and I like how you had unlockable rounds and more coming in the future! It really gives the feeling of a complete game and in that time span was not an easy feat.  Great job!

Thank you ^^

for solo is not bad, but music is... dont know if game have SFX, i must mute sound at the start. laser is useles, maybe less damage and better cooldown... now is better just get enemies at one place and use rocket. maybe physic?(not absolute movement). visuals is not compatible(ship, background, vfx). still can be a good game with few touches...

I sadly died in wave 10 of the second part, idk how much I had left, but it was very fun! A bit slow sometimes and the enemies were easy to stack and dodge their bullets. Still, great game! Keep it up
