How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
It starts with a dark forest and graveyard like, with undeads, bats and skeletons that you need to fight against. It is very reminiscent of Castlevania games.

Really enjoyable. I enjoyed watching this develop in the Discord and pleased it turned out so well.
I personally would have liked the action to not keep stopping when you get hit, and throw you straight back in the action instead. I really appreciate having loads of hearts! I would personally like a bit of control over the jump so you can correct in mid air. It's possibly a bit repetitive, but it is fun stabbing the heck out of everything! Best boss I've played so far.

Looks gorgeous, absolutely banging soundtrack. Really fun, deffo one of my faves!

Thanks for playing.
As for the controllers, it was mostly designed for d-pads and keyboard and not for analog sticks at all, that is why "up" is jump as i felt it a lot easier to control when using the keyboard and did not realize it was really bad on the analog stick.

It was, but I was using D-pad. I stand by up being jump is bad. even on keyboard I would have hated it LOL.

Developer

Oh right. I didn't had any issues playing it like that but maybe I'm simply more used to this control scheme (which is inherited from Rush'n Attack, the game it is based of). But I will consider other control schemes in the future. Thanks for the feedback.

Woah pretty solid game and challenging, I liked it a lot, and the first boss just looks amazing!!

Wow this is great! It's very fun to play, quite challenging too. Only managed to beat the first boss and getting to the second level before running out of lives in my first run.

The spritework and overall design is very pretty and all the music tracks are so good, just nailed the gameboy vibe! And all the game done in love2d is quite amazing too. Congrats to the team!

This is awesome! I really enjoyed the gameplay, and the art is fantastic. The movement of the first boss looks amazing. I played it on the web version because I'm on Mac and I didn't have issues. Well done!

Unfortunately I was unable to play it so I'm unable to rate it, would have been handy uploading it as web browser game, but the artwork in the screenshots looks great!

Developer

What was the problem? Did it threw an error? Or was it something else?
You can try to install LÖVE and run the love file instead if you still want to try it.
As for a web version, the game was simply not compatible with it.

I just didn't know how to open it once I downloaded it, I am on Mac, would that be the issue?

Developer(+1)

Right, I don't know how to make the game work on a Mac as I don't have one to test, the build is only for Windows, but I managed to make a browser version of the game here: https://eliasjosue.itch.io/bloodstabbed-web

Awesome! Thanks for doing that; word of warning, the web browser version does create some strange artifacts, so there are 8+ colours on screen at a time, having looked at your screenshots I can see they're much cleaner and adhear to the 4 colours rule, but despite that issue... Wow! That is super hectic hahah Love the art, the music and gameplay (despite dying every second the first two play throughs haha) Couldn't get past that awesome boss, but never been a fan of keyboard controls, so not surprising.
An all round great effort, I was looking forward to playing this having seen your progress posts on Discord and I'm certainly not dissapointed :D

Thanks for playing and for the comments. I don't think I can fix that issue so I'll just put a warning on the game's page, but I'm glad that it actually worked haha.

Super robust for a weeks worth of work! A really awesome and polished package. Very glad I took the extra effort of downloading as I generally just stick to browser games.

Brilliant art and audio. That Bach chip tune rendition was awesome. Game was brutally difficult for me, I couldn't get past the second level but the first was already so polished I wasn't expecting there to be any more. Really great work!

Wow! That was really fun and the art and music is incredible! I really loved the boss fight!
