Great game with interesting build mechanic. I hope you will continue to please us with your projects

this was really cool fun!

Its a nice fun game, it had me making things that were strange and unique. Great job!

This is a great, infinite replay for the hobbyist engineer! Maybe add a score at the end or stats like time to traverse over money spent, how many revolutions/rotations to go x length. Put it all in a stat screen when you complete the level. Love this game. Reminds me a little bit of a game called soda play when I was growing up.

Ha! Really liked the idea and how things work! When we'll see a release of it on the app stores?

Such an awesome piece of game, spent way too many moments just playing around with building vehicles.
Simply awesome!!!

Very nice game! Building screen could have been clearer with a tutorial or some tooltips.

This is a really cool an unique concept for this game! I do feel like the zoom disrupts the player too much though.

I was waiting to play your game since the start of the jam.

It really is a good/fun game to play, it's innovant and satisfying to play and completly match the jam theme. Congrats, and hope you'll polished it in terms of design, sound and speed to make it even better !

Nice game! Kind of hard to master, and sometimes slightly too slow and silent imo but that aspect is also really relaxing 😌. Nice experience overall, would recommend, good job!

Developer

After getting some feedback about being slow, I have increased wheel speed by 50%.  I also should see if I can make terrain start closer to the build area.

Cool game ! I love the principe ! But the art and audio is not very impressive.

Developer(+1)

I actually made all the art myself, but looking back I should have replaced them with real art assets.  :)

However, I am proud of the sound design.  It is supposed to be minimalistic like you are on a barren planet.  I have some good UI sounds, but I need to add some more clicks and mouse-over sounds.

I mean your game is still amazing tho !

There's no greater joy than to see something you create actually plough through obstacles just as the creator intended. I love the casual setup. If this was eventually released as a mobile game, I'd find myself playing this game for hours, finding new ways to make my crawler a lot more awesome. Keep it up, and like the others said, add a small tutorial session, that would be very helpful to a lot of new players. :)

Thanks for the kind words!  After taking a few days off, I do feel like I can solve some of the remaining bugs and add some more usability improvements.

Initially, I tried to do something similar, but I couldn’t figure out how to connect object instances and, in addition, make some of them round, I’m glad you did it.

Developer

It is impossible to connect two instances of the same object, which is why I ended up creating hidden "collider" objects that are behind every frame.  Then I simply connect the collider pieces to the visible pieces, and it appears like the visible pieces are connected.  Cool trick, eh? :)

Submitted

Yes, in fact, I came to the same solution, only I have an invisible sprite covering the entire area of the "building", thanks for sharing, after the jam I will definitely make some invisible sprites.

nice game really creative, but i suggest you to give some tutorial before, nice game !

I know the power of this game engine. But you took it to the next level. Which physics combination did you use in this game? Really want to know. Liked this game :)

Developer

I am using weld joints to hold frames together, revolute joints for the "pivot joints" and wheel joints for the wheels.

I am planning on doing a devlog of the gamejame process, and perhaps a longer tutorial on how to make similar things.  I also might make an extension that welds physics objects together, but I need to do more research on the feasibility of that.

This is pretty good!

Thanks! :)

Very smooth and realistic movement :D, reminds me of "Bad piggies" so fun <3

the only thing i didn't like is when i was exploring around (moving the camera(holding left button)) i accidentally touched the bomb button, and poof everything i built is gone >.< same thing goes to all the buttons on the screen, overall its a fantastic game well done :3

Developer(+1)

Good insight!  Yes, I should have made confirmation screens for Load/Save/Delete All.   If I continue with the game I will do that (just added that to Trello)

Developer(+1)

Also, I wanted to let you know that Bad Piggies was one of my inspirations for this!   The other is:

Such an innovative concept. My first association was the game Bad piggies for android which is a good thing.I struggled to start my vehicle at all until I made 3 wheel design which functioned with a constant change of direction of rotation. Minimalist sound fits perfectly and the zoom function is a handy addition. I follow your progress in making of game on twitter, I expected a lot and met my expectations. Great work.

Developer

Cool!  I did use Bad Piggies as inspiration for this.  The current UI is basically generation #3 and the most simple, but also not perfect.  :)

Thanks for the review!

I loved it! Congratulations 👏🏻
