Simple and nice game!
The game's idea is straightforward, yet you've effectively incorporated the theme. While there are quite a few similar games in the jam, perhaps after the jam concludes, you could consider adding unique elements to make your game truly stand out.
I understand the idea of the game. But the character skids too much, it's hard to keep control of him, and that's exactly what the game asks of the player.
Nice simple game you have made :)
I like trying to pinpoint where to jump and the music is pretty good too. Short and sweet.
music's no mine it from open game art but thanks
Even if you fail, you can retry immediately, so stress is reduced. It's a simple and good game. It would be great if there were a couple more tricks.
i was thinking about moving platforms but it did not work right
Oh, nice thing. Levels not too long to complete, so learning curve is smooth, but I would probably play a bit with character controller because of inertia.
That's a cool concept! The game is not too hard but it's pleasant too play. To simplify the gameplay, you could have used the same key to activate/show the player. Besides that and a few typos, it's a great idea for the theme and potentially an excellent basis for something bigger!
Great concept! The controls are slippery. You can easily fix it in the platformer behavior. And the art as well needs to improve. But your concept and gameplay has a lot of potential.
Enjoyed playing <3
there was only 1 hard level i guess :o but dang its too hard xD i wasn't able to pass it D:
i like the idea of turning the light On to see the platforms and Off to get back to the character :D
overall, well made !
yay i wanted more levels but i could not think of any more levels except for a level with moving platforms but i could not figure it out
This was decent. I appreciate that showing the platforms also stops the player. Unlike a lot of similar concepts, this feels like a memory game on purpose instead of on accident.
The audio needs balancing. The switch and death sounds are much louder than the music or jump sounds.
It is possible to press off and on at the same time, which biases towards "player off" and produces an awful crackling noise. There should probably be some kind of buffer requiring the player to un-press the control before they can re-press the control.
While the physics are fairly competent, especially for a first platformer, I think the turn-around should be a bit faster. While it's usually fine for momentum-based platformers that the player stops slowly when nothing is pressed, the problem is that the player also stops very slowly when the opposite direction is presed. While this can be a valid mechanic under the right contexts, it's usually very unintuitive and, in this case, makes the player feel out of control.
All in all, good attempt.
thanks for the feedback and i hope you win logic bulb adventure is an amazing game make a squeal pls
The player movement is so slippery, even after you stop pressing the key, the player keeps some of the momentum and keeps moving. This aspect is really detrimental for this game in particular because the design of the levels is focused on precise platforming and I found myself repeating levels because I couldn't land jumps exactly where I wanted because the character kept moving after landing. I also found myself barely enjoying the main mechanic of the game because every time I switched to the visible platforms I was unable to move, so I rather just took leaps of faith until I finish each level which felt unrewarding. To end this comment on a positive note, I would say that idea for this game could be really fun if it had more work and polish put into it.
yay i wanted to add more polish but this is my first "good" project with gdevlop so it was going to have bugs although one tip is to turn the player off to end the sliperyness. i had trouble gauging difficult because its my game and i could beat the game with out even seeing the levels soo yay
It was enjoyable, I really liked it !
However, it's just a bit unfortunate that the game is so short ( and quite simple for my taste )...
PS : I explored a similar concept in my game, so I think you might enjoy it...
i wanted more levels but I could no think of more
A very original concept and quite challenging to play.
great concept. I like the color scheme you chose. I really struggled with the last level XD
Interesting game IMO. I don't like how loud the sfx is when the box blows up or how slippery the ground is.
I liked how you freeze when the lights are on, I played a similar game in the jam where you continued moving while seeing the world and it was very difficult. It is a bit jarring to see your character disappear though, so maybe the player is always visible or is there as an outline?
I also felt like the movement needed some fine tuning. Due to the slow acceleration and the slippery floors precise jumps were too difficult. I either slid off a platform when I wanted to stop, or I couldn't stop moving right otherwise I wouldn't be able to get back up to speed.
"This levels hard", it suuuuure is haha!
Great usage of sound, very creepy. Was hard to beat but not unbeatable! Some effects to increase the feel of the game would be great if you have the time in the future.
thanks for the feed back. I didn't know how to add triggers for landing on the ground and i couldn't find any button sounds that went with the games aesthetic also the portal was supposed to make a sound but it didn't for some reason p.s if you want to see a silly easter egg go left instead of right in the first level
So I get the general idea, but I think the implementation needs some work. It felt very cumbersome to switch to see the platforms, then switch back to the character to try and use what I just saw to beat the level (I couldn't even beat the first one, despite trying a few times). I'd ease players into the difficulty or most would probably just quit :(
you couldn't beat level 1?
