Very neat style! I also love your interpretation of the task with obstacles aligned to the music. Cool game!

Thanks so much ๐Ÿ˜€

I managed to get to the end of the game and I'm second place on the leaderboard which I'm happy with. I like how the spikes are timed with the audio and there's a lot of other things I liked too. I wasn't sure what causes the hands to come out of the walls but they are pretty awesome. I think the game might benefit from making the hands just steal some of your gold coins instead of killing the player and maybe make it possible to push the barrels to block them or have a more dangerous route around them maybe. It's a great game and the traps were fun to get around

Thanks I appreciate the feedback lots of great ideas, I would have liked to have done more.

I will have to step it up next round ๐Ÿ˜‰

The retro vibe is really cool. More variety in items and events would be nice but already a really cool game ! Congrats !

This game is very consistent in its graphics and retro sound effects, and I love the idea of traversing a dungeon to a beat and facing obstacles with music cues.  Very impressive for 2 weeks of work. The color palette reminds me of old arcade games, which I love. For a future version, it would be cool to add more obstacles, and maybe experiment with attack bonuses on the beat. (Haha maybe there were some but if so I didn't notice.) And some defensive things, maybe like raising your shield on the beat to block an enemy attack might be fun to play with. :D

Thanks those were some great ideas I thought of allowing enemies (when I actually get some in) be able to strike or move twice on the beat but had not considered a player attack bonus. I will try and keep building on this prototype its my most successful turn based-ish movement I have applied to a game so far.

Glad you picked up on the nostalgia style it was partly to make it more manageable and partly cos I am a big fan of what I grew up on. One day I would love to do an Eye of the beholder / Dungeon master style game :)

I had a lot of fun playing this game, I liked having the audio cues for when the spikes come up, still got me several times though.

Thanks mate appreciate the kind words :)

A fun little game! I'm not really sure where the audio cues come in, it would have been really cool if you ahds to attack only when the music does that pulse thing. The tiles in the dark seemed to act a little weird, items being unable to pick up and exploding barrels pausing their explosion. However, it was certainly a neat game and I had a lot of fun. Maybe just look at the judging criteria first. ๐Ÿ˜…

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I set the traps and barrel explosion base on the special notes of the tune (this is why it pauses when you die :). I have been told my jump scare trap does not feel aligned to the tune which i suppose is to do with the animation length. Music is not a strong area for me leading me to this concept - in my head i had many more trap and actual enemies utilizing the special note but sadly met my limits.

As far as the not picking up in the dark, this was a conscious choice with the goal of showing the importance of the torches and lighting the wall and floor torches to allow easier navigation when the player no torch.

Thanks so much for playing and providing so much valuable feedback :)
