Who would you most like to avoid pairing with in Dev v Dev?
Either Dev Pirates, who's got the retro theme nailed, or HugBug, who snatched my round 2 victory out from betwixt my feeble hands >:
Who do you think will win GDKO 2024?
I think so many people have great shots... but I am scared of HugBug, Q34, and Joszs after last round

This was delightfully silly. Excellent entry and great take on the original!
Very funny game. Ragdoll physics are always surprising and interesting, so I like that twist on the original. Nice amount of events cool retro graphics and color palette.
The game is a lot of fun, there are a good variety of events and all of them are fun on their on way. I did find a bug or two. You can submit your score multiple times, so if I had a #1 time i could submit it 10 times and fill the entire leaderboard with it :P and at the long jump event you can still run further after touching the ground :)
Nonetheless a great entry for the jam, I had a lot of fun and this will definetly be in one of the top spots
Wow you just commented and I happened to be on right now (:
The leaderboard thing isn’t actually a bug, I may have said this down in the commonest but due to some issues with measuring time and keeping track of GUID for the players it ended up being easier to reset the player so they can enter another score. I don’t think this will become a problem but if it does I will just delete some entries.
For the long jump - can you just keep running like forever?? Because it might just be velocity that carries over from the initial jump, and since the little guy is simulated with physics he may still waddle around.
Thanks for the feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed!!
Ah, the infamous last minute struggle with some feautures lead to the score thing :D you can definitely delete a score of mine in the 100m dash event, because I accidentally submitted it twice.
You could be right, maybe it just felt like I could run a little further than intended. I couldn’t get it so I can run forever, but it was always another 30m or so.
The ragdoll physics on the arms are hilarious! Using a trampoline for the high jump is a creative idea but I found the timing a bit tricky. Thankfully, the multiple bounces definitely helped though. Hurdles was the event I liked the most and I got on the leaderboard too :) The menu was presented well, transitioned nicely and had good info in it. The one thing missing was a restart button on the events for convenience but overall, it’s a nice game
Really fun remake! The screen visuals look great and the menu animations are indeed pretty cool. Also, the main menu music is such a vibe. The events feel novel while staying true to the original game. Only nitpick I have is that a faster way to restart a round would be nice. But still, a very solid entry!
Super fun game, wish it had more events! The menus felt slow to navigate though, the sliding animation is nice but should be faster.
Yeah, I definitely wish I had gotten more events in but I got burnt out halfway through the jam and just decided to submit early.
And no, that sliding animation took me way longer than it should have to make and you will sit through and appreciate every single moment (kidding).
Amazing game, I like the silly theme.
The only minigame which I did think was a bit less clear compared to the other games was the high jump, it felt a bit random what the effect of the timing of your jump was.
The games are very fun to play and having the highscores is really cool (I regret now that I did not add any highscores in my game)
Glad you enjoyed!
The jump one actually doesn’t really do anything with the timing, it’s just normal jumping and speed. The best strategy is generally to build up as much speed as possible and jump as late as possible.
The timing probably ended up inconsistently modifying the jump distance because different parts might have caught on the ramp and slowed down the player.
I mean the jump one with the trampoline, not the one with ramp.
Oh :P that one you have to jump right as you hit the trampoline or slightly after. You can usually tell if you hit it because you’ll get a massive boost, otherwise you’ll either jump bounce without any extra propulsion, or hit a funny landing and completely fail.
It’s very tough to get the timing right and it gets harder the higher up you get. It’s a bit hard to tell when to actually hit it but I recommend using the sound as a cue.
So cool and silly! The fact that the dummy just dances and swings arms around is so cool!
I kept playing again and again.
I might not win GDKO, but eat my dust!
You should check the highscore again :D
Wow O-o my personal high score is a hundredth of a second faster - you guys are getting close!
a really cool game!, polished and i loved the leaderboard, shame there werent more events
Very solid entry for sure! Polished all around, with a good credits, settings section, and nice little widget interactions in the menu selection.
Only nits from me are that the UI felt a bit slow to navigate, slightly worsened by forcing me to go back to the main menu each time instead of the event selection or even a “quick retry” button. I also feel it’s slightly polluting that we’re asked to enter our top score every time and it doesn’t remove old top scores, that list is going to get very long very quick heh :D
Agreed! I also would have loved a faster menu navigation.
In hindsight, faster UI navigation is something I definitely would have added :P
The way the leaderboard I have works best when it’s reset after each run- if it becomes a problem I’ll just manually remove some duplicate scores but it usually isn’t an issue.
Very silly indeed. Loved the awkward movements and the funny controls, it really made this a fun game. Also, the shaders added a lot to the style. I really liked this one.
The physics aspect of the game is very cool! I like how funky the guy walks :D :D :D
